“A beautiful & calm hotel”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

We stayed here for 4 nights over Easter. We'd requested a room overlooking the garden and when we were brought to the room, I was a bit disappointed as it seemed quite dark. But then we open the window to the stunning gardens and bue skies - beautiful! Otherwise the room was comfortable and clean. The shower was a bit small but its an old building so we understood.

The hotel is located in the ancient city, across from the Forum. It's about a 10 min walk to the Colleseum and a 10 min walk to Trastevere - perfect location for us!

The selling point really is the garden, a calm oasis in the middle of frentic, wonderful Rome. We had drinks there most evenings, including a complimentary drink from the hotel - nice touch! We also ate in the restaurant twice - one evening when we were tired from a day in Pompeii and for lunch on the day we left. We were really impressed, great pasta, wine and service.

Great location, fantastically clean and tidy, lovely staff, especially the bar man and the lady in charge of the restaurant (don't wear name badges). It was my 50th birthday whilst there with my sister and we ate at the hotel, they came out with a small cake and candle and sang Happy Birthday and stood and chatted. Near to everything and although theres not lots of bars and restaurants surrounding, the Trastevere area is only 10 mins walk and is great value for money. I would stay again and recommend to my friends (my sister is usually very fussy), we booked a British Airways package and was a very good price for what we got. Refreshing good customer service in a big city hotel, oh, and the continental breakfast was great choice, much more than we were expecting! Well done Kolbe!

Room Tip: Get a room higher up than the ground floor to get a better view as windows high up on ground floor

The hotel is located adjacent to the Foro Romano in the building of an old monastery. If you enjoy walking, this is a perfect place from which you can discover Rome. The Foro, the Colosseo and the Capitol Hill are all a 10 minute walk away. The Circo Massimo is a 5 minute walk, from here you can catch a bus to the Vaticano. Some of the rooms, especially the 3 person rooms, are very spacious. The normal double rooms have a nnormal size. All rooms are elegantly furnished and have a personal taste. the garden is beautiful for breakfast.

Room Tip: The rooms towards the street can be quite loud due to traffic.

The Kolbe is located opposite the Roman Forum and is within easy walking distance of most of the historic sites including St Peter's.
The staff where helpful and friendly and full of great advice. We where in Rome during the Rome birthday celebrations so the area was busy and some shoppe where shut, however with the help of the staff we saw and did all we wanted to do.
The rooms where generous (for Rome) and well appointed and most importantly quite.
I will be happy to stay here again.

The hotel locating close to all attractions. We did all our trip by foot. Even get to the Vatican took 20 min by foot. The breakfast was very good and room was clean.
If you wish to print something you can to this for free at the computers in the lobby.

We stayed at the Kolbe Hotel in April 2014, and had a wonderful stay! The staff was very kind, helpful, attentive and professional. The lobby is beautiful and has a computer station with a printer for any last minute needs. The restaurant has an incredibly delicious dinner service (some of the best meals we had in Rome were and the hotel's restaurant) they also offer a tasty and very well stocked continental breakfast from 7am to 10am. Our room was on the 2nd floor and was nice enough, I would rate it as average except for the fact it overlooked the courtyard garden and was very quiet and peaceful, I especially loved waking up to the sound of happy birds chirping! I found the location to be great, very close to the sights and within easy walking distance from the metro. As a side note I would recommend taking a shuttle or taxi from and to the airport rather than taking the metro as trying to wheel you suitcase over the cobblestone streets to get the the hotel would be difficult. I highly recommend the Kolbe Hotel spring for a room overlooking the courtyard and enjoy!
