Close to the termini station, makes it easy (and cheap) to get to from the airport, really is less than a 10 min walk, and only another 10 minutes or so to the colisseum.

Unusual layout as the hotel is actually part of an old apartment block and is accessed on the first floor (you will find it on the name plate and buzz to get in), but it is immaculately clean and a welcome quiet off the noise of the street. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and supplied a bottle of prosecco in the room with a birthday card on my request for our arrival for my husbands birthday.

Our room was again immaculately clean, not very big but perfectly adequate, with safe, built in wardrobes and a really large en suite bathroom. The breakfast was much better than others I've experienced with cornflakes, delicious pastries, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cheese and ham and they were also able to advise me on what I could have gluten free and I was well catered for.
We would definately stay again.

Other tips - we flew easy jet and found the return bus tickets they sold on the plane to be excellent value compared to others (can also be purchased at bus stop 1 at the airport), the restaurant opposite the hotel is very good with great food at much better value than we found elsewehere, purchase a Roma ticket from tourist info and use this to skip the queues at the colisseum (saving at least a few hrs!) and includes 3 days free public transport around the city and discounts for other places, pre-book tickets for the Vatican Museum if you can (save another 2-3hrs queuing) or if not don't follow the advice of going first thing in the morning on a lot of websites - everyone does and when we came out about lunch time after queuing 2 hrs to get in after getting there early and the queue was no longer than half an hr (for weekdays anyway). Trastevere is lovely in the evening for street entertainers and a great atmosphere but it is the area immediately the other side of the river, not further in where the bus stops actually say Trastevere - we made this mistake and ended up in very residential areas with nothing there initially. If you're coeliac or gluten intolerant don't worry - all the restaurants we went to understood what it was and only one didn't have gluten free pasta as an option.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the building which was quieter, we stayed in room 70 and had a great spa...

We stayed at this hotel for one night and it was a good experience, better than expected from a two star hotel. The room price €135 per night is very expensive for this hotel and the only thing that justifies it is the location. The breakfast could be better and for me if orange juice is not on the breakfast menu of an Italian hotel then it's a shame.

Also the breakfast seating area is very small. One other thing that I noticed is the fact that the tv has over 100 channels and not one of them is an international one.

Dear Sir ,
I'm sorry you did not notice that orange juice is served daily for breakfast .
Also on Satellite TV all rooms have got BBC Channel .
We inform you that during high season room rates are about the same everywhere in
Rome .

A great hotel with clean rooms, friendly staff and a perfect location with walking distance to the all the major attractions and also close to the public transportation if you don't feel for a walk. The breakfast they serve is fresh, tasteful and generous. There are several restaurants in the area, and a supermarket close by.

This was my first trip to Rome. I traveled with my older father and we stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights. We both agreed on that this hotel is well worth the money and we would definitely recommend this hotel and I for sure will stay here again when I return to Rome.

First of all, we have to thank the staff of Hotel Italia for being so nice and accommodating. We never had any issues, nor complaints, they just took care of everything in a prompt and professional way.
The registration desk is located on the first floor, not on street floor, and there is only a small sign outside marking the hotel. But once you go through the large wooden doors, a nice surprise waits you upstairs!
We had a very large, clean and bright room in the beautiful Residenza. There was plenty of closet space, a desk, and as requested, a fridge. Luigi was very kind to show us the room. The bathroom was very nice and clean, although the shower may few a bit narrow for some people.
The beds were very comfortable, and although the room faced the street, the noise didn't bother us.
On our first morning we found the breakfast room full, so the guests at the Residenza were served a beautiful breakfast on a private dining area. It was a nice experience! Breakfast was delicious, with pastries, jam, eggs, meats and cheeses, and coffee made to order.
The hotel is in a great location, and it's an easy walk to just about anywhere. It's close to Termini, but also to the Colosseo area, restaurants on Monti area, Spanish Steps, etc.
We only stayed 2 nights, but our stay was wonderful. All the research done beforehand on TA paid off :)

A small 2 star hotel, located quite centrally which is an absolute boon for a solo paranoid traveller. Safe, cozy, neat and clean. Booked online with not much expectations but i was thoroughly satisfied. The family/ staff that runs the place were very helpful and guided me well since i wanted to cover as much in just 2 days including recommending a local jazz club, and suggesting the smartest way to get to the airport. This place is mainly meant for people who uses it as a retiring place after a busy long day and not if you expect the hotel to spice up your experience too much, its a no nonsense hotel. As for the price, well i have stayed in much better places ( 5 star) for the price i paid but guess stay in rome is generally expensive. will definitely look at staying at hotel italia again, whenever that happens. cheers arun sam

Ciao Sam ,
Thanks for the kind words about the Staff .
Yes , Rome during pick season is more expensive . If you during winter time prices go down
( this is valid for all kind of Hotels ) . But I assure you we are keeping the same room rates
for long ( at least 3 years ) improving the service each Year .

All the best ,

Very much value for the money! Good room, nice breakfast, kind people and the hotel is perfect situated in a sidewalk to Via Nazionale. You can walk to The Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain etc. And near the hotel are the busstops. You can take bus No 64 to St. Peters, Bus H to Trastevere and bus No 117 (from via Milano) to Piazza del Popolo.

Room Tip: Ask for room in the main building, because the rooms across the street (hotel Picasso), were not wha...

Hotel Italia Roma was a lovely place to stay in Rome. I booked it online and had no idea what to expect. Initially I was put in a very small room that smelled a bit like smoke- those working for the hotel were smoking just outside my window. I asked to have a room change and they quickly changed it to a much better room on the street.

The breakfast and cappuccino were excellent as were all those I met staying there. The lobby had plenty of books left by past travelers. I thoroughly enjoyed the location and being able to walk everywhere or get public transportation when needed.

Room Tip: I would recommend street side rooms, not interior rooms.
