“Great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

For a hotel in Rome we found this to be an excellent location & good value. A number of rooms are in the newly renovated annex across the street. The interior design was lovely, despite our bathroom being really small( evidently all rooms are a different size). Breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend & will book again if we return to Rome.

Room Tip: Check the room first as room size varies. Also avoid rooms facing the street as noisy.

The Fodor guide we purchased recommended this hotel and it was quite accurate. We were very pleased with the location, friendly service provided by the hotel staff and the breakfast was fresh and enjoyable each morning. We stayed four nights and the hotel even provided a private breakfast for our family one morning which made us feel really special.

Room Tip: If you travel in summer, make sure you pay the extra surcharge for the airconditioning. the room ma...

I just completed a third stay at this fine hotel. I've never stayed elsewhere in Rome--and I never expect to look for a room at any other establishment. Cosy with character!
The location is fabulous--far enough (half a block) from busy Via di Nazionale to be quiet, but with quick access to that main thoroughfare, and in walking distance of Termini Station, the Repubblica Metro stop, the Colosseum/Forum, Imperial Fora, the Palatine and Capitoline hills, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, etc.
The staff is nonpareil, offering 24-hour expertise, fluent English, impeccable manners, kind demeanor, and eagerness to help. Rooms are clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained (and air conditioned--which can really make a difference, as we always visit Rome in June). The breakfast is wonderful--beautifully presented and graciously served. There is a quirky collection of original art adorning the walls of hallways and rooms--such a refreshing change from the impersonal chic of so many hotels (even those advertised as "boutique" hotels).
Actually it's hard to think of something I don't like about the Hotel Italia. I only hope it continues to be available to us. (Book far in advance!)

Room Tip: I've stayed in several different rooms here--and liked them all!

Great Little Hotel in Rome! Room #50 in the annex across the street from the main hotel is fabulous! This is a corner room with windows on two sides. These can be opened and will provide a great breeze during cooler months, but the air conditioning works great if it is hot weather. This room has been newly renovated, is very clean and we had great service. Our only complaint is that the mattress was hard. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of room for everybody to relax and enjoy. Abdul and Sabrina were both very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for room number 50 across the street on 2nd floor. There is a cute little elevator that will ta...

From the moment we set foot inside this charming and welcoming hotel, we knew that we had landed well. The staff and owner were exceptionally kind and helpful in all ways. The room was a gem, clean and quiet, and with a magnificently comfortable mattress! Breakfast was awesome. What's more to say? Ah, the location. Out of the five or so hotels we've stayed at in Rome, Hotel Italia is best situated. It's an easy walk to the train station but not so near that it's "near the train station." It's on a quiet street, and just across the street are two restaurants, and one of them is quite good. Next door is a fantastic sandwich shop that has to be tried! We really loved Hotel Italia and hope to stay there again.

Well situated but very noisy single room on first floor. The shower space was far too small for comfort. Difficult to sleep at night because of noise coming from other rooms or from outside the hotel.
The staff at the front desk were very efficient and helpful and generally staff very warm making the general atmosphere pleasant.
The breakfast was generous and good
I think it very discriminatory to give single people a poor room and recommend the hotel only for doubles.
The situation is good and close to public transport.

Room Tip: Only book double room

Wonderful hotel in a location close to transportation and attractions. The room and bathroom were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was lovely with a good selection of foods and drink. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great; with a 10 minute walk to the train station and less to city bus stops. We walked to many of the tourist attractions. Close to shopping and restaurants too. We would gladly stay in this hotel again!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the breakfast area.
