Deko is a lovely place to stay in a secure area in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and buses. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, have comfy beds, Sky tv and an iPad. All of this is indisputable but what really makes this place, as everyone else has said, are the owners. Arriving hot and tired you are ushered to a table and served a complementary drink: espresso, cappuccino, juice, prosecco, whatever takes your fancy. Your local map is then 'Marcoed' ie annotated with all the places to visit, the bus nos, etc. Then all the best places to eat or drink near each site is added, together with the best time of day to visit them if applicable. All bookings are made on your behalf if required and if you are really lucky, Marco knows the maitre'd and then you are treated like a VIP at the restaurant as well. Marco and Serena really made our holiday feel amazingly special and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Me and my husband wanted to go to Rome to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and our birthdays, so started looking on Trip Advisor for tips on where to stay. The reviews on here for
Deko Rome do not do it justice. It is the two owners of this establishment, the lovely Serena and Marco, that make this the best place to stay in Rome! The accommodation is very clean and modern with beautiful bathrooms and accessories, very stylish place to stay. They up graded us to the suite room for no extra charge as we told them we were celebrating. We had a huge bed, which was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in!! We also had a lounge area with fridge and flat screen tv in both rooms. The bathroom was very stylish with a Jacuzzi bath. The place is spotless and I am fussy about bathrooms when travelling but even I could not fault this place.

When we arrived the lovely Serena sat us down offering coffee, juice, wine whatever we wanted and then proceeded to go through the map she provided. She asked us what we wanted to visit and what we liked to eat and gradually marked every landmark, restaurant, shopping area, bar etc. on the map!! I have never known anyone do this for us before and we have travelled extensively. We had booked the guided tour of the Vatican for the day we arrived and the guided tour of the Colleseum for the next day, both with Dark Rome Tours which were recommended by Marco by email before we arrived. These tours are fantastic as you get to jump the queues to access the sites and the guides were brilliant, very knowledgeable. Serena told us which buses to catch and guided us to the nearest train station (Barbarini), although I must admit we walked everywhere as we wanted to see as much of Rome as possible in the short time we were there. It is in a very central location just off the elegant Via Veneto opposite the American Embassy. We felt safe walking around any time of day or night. We stayed from Friday til Monday. Breakfast is lovely too. They served juice, tea, coffee with fresh fruit, cereal, croissants, bread rolls, jam, cheese, ham, salami the list goes on! Also check out was at 10am. While chatting to Serena over breakfast we asked if we could leave our bags as our flight was at 10 pm that evening - no problem. We set off to see the last of Rome, but about 4 pm we decided to go collect our bags and make our way to the airport as it was very cold that day and we had done it all. On going to collect our bags from Deko Rome, Marco was there and remembered that our flight was a late one. He insisted that we stay there and wouldn't let us go sit at the airport. He took us to a new room which was all ready for the next guests and put on the tv (English football for the husband!) told us to use the shower, relax on the bed and watch tv until we wanted to leave for the airport. We couldn't believe how kind he was. What other hotel would do this for their guests. You truly felt like you were staying with friends or family there is such a lovely feeling in this place. Serena and Marco are two of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure to meet. Since our return we have been telling everyone about this lovely couple and Deko Rome. When in Rome do not stay anywhere else, we cant wait to come back. Thank you Serena and Marco for making our stay so brilliant!

Room Tip: some rooms look onto a courtyard others the street, but all rooms are great.

WOW!!! My husband and I were recently in Rome for 8 days. Marco & Serena, the owners, and Adrianna, their helper, made our trip priceless!!! This is a very small boutique hotel, only 6 rooms, but in a very good part of town. We were greeted by Serena when we arrived, and she detailed all of the sites of Rome. Marco was there in the evening to offer champagne, ask about our day, and plan for dinner and the next day's activities. We woke up to a beautiful, large breakfast every morning in the kitchen, and they even put this in our room on a morning we left before 8am to go to the Vatican. Every restaurant they recommended was superb! They helped us book tours, or showed us where to go if we wanted to tour on our own. This would not have been the same trip without their expertise and helpful attitudes. I can honestly say that i have never been treated so well at a hotel. Ever! They are very passionate about their jobs, and it shows in every little detail. They even presented a guest with a full size Birthday Cake at breakfast while we were there! Truly a remarkable experience I will never forget!!!! I would give this 10 stars if I could!!!

Room Tip: Not sure about other rooms. We were in Room 2 and it was very quiet.

My wife and I recently returned from our second trip to Rome and first to Deko. The hotel, a small boutique was lovely-thoughtfully appointed and beautifully kept. This is not a luxury hotel, but certainly upscale. However, the staff at the hotel are the finest you will find anywhere. Marco, Serena, and Andrea made our stay fabulous. We quickly realized that they were sweet, caring, and extremely knowledgeable about the city. Marco guided our restaurant decisions more masterfully than Michelin ever could. He and Serena helped with tour information, booking hard to get tours, providing hints on transportation, places to see, etc.
The breakfast each morning was the best we had in the three weeks we spent in southern Italy.
When was the last time a hotel e-mailed you at your next destination to make sure that you got there safely and offering help, if needed, although you were 200 miles away?
My father was a travel writer and as a result I have been to more places than the average traveler and I have almost always been treated "well." However, nothing has compared with the hospitality shown at Deko. There are 5 star hotels out there that could learn a thing or two from Marco.
The only downside is that Deko probably ruined us for other hotels which just won't live up to its high standards.

We have just returned from a short stay at Deko and confirm all the reviews you read here are absolutely spot on. Although we were booked to stay for five nights unfortunately due to an accident our trip was cut short and we had we had to return to to the UK. Serena and Marco did everything possible to help us in what was quite a stressful situation for which we are very grateful. The are genuinely lovely people. Deko is a lovely upmarket guest house in a great location just round the corner from Via Veneto, We booked the suite which comprises a good sized bedroom and separate spacious sitting area, there is a fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks replenished every day with no charge. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee excellent. Although we did not get the chance to try all the restaurant recommendations, the one we did was perfect. We will definitely be going back to Rome as soon as we can and would not dream of staying anywhere other than Deko!

What can I say that everyone else hasn't already said. Stay here if you want the absolute best experience visiting Rome. Marco & Serena are the most wonderful, caring owners/hosts you will ever find. They are truly passionate their hotel and their guests experience. We left feeling as though we had known there friends for a lifetime. The hotel is lovely. Its in a very safe neighborhood ( although we never felt unsafe in Rome), across from the US embassy and just off the famous Via Veneto.Very close to bus, metro and walking to the sites. Rooms are nice size for two and have a very cool retro/chic flair with Modern amenities and changing artwork. Hotel is quiet as well. Here are a few tips. First, take the taxi Marco will arrange from the airport. The difference in price is minimal from a regular taxi ( a few euro) and the experience is so much easier. Driver meets you outside customs with a sign and off you go. Second, follows all of Serena's advice on the map. She absolutely knows the best restaurants and bars. All are reasonably priced and excellent ( non touristy). Last, sit and enjoy a glass of prosecco or coffee with Marco after a long day of sightseeing or before dinner. It is the perfect day to wind down your day. You will be happy you stayed here.

It is run by the kindest couple who focus in your needs for a fulfilling stay Rome. It is a delightful, fresh and comfortable environment; and they give every consideration to the needs of a traveller. Head for every restaurant they suggest; each one we ate in was delightful.

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms in Deko. We had to upgrade as all the other rooms were booked; but each...
