We have just had the most fabulous four days in Rome and we could not speak highly enough of Marco and Serena and their beautiful little hotel. What a gem of a place and two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Serena and Marco gave us all of the best advice about how and where to go which made our stay that little bit more special. Rooms were fantastic - clean, beautifully appointed and comfortable. The hotel is in a great spot close to the Spanish steps and the lovely villa Borghese gardens that we jogged through. A little supermarket next door is really handy as well as a taxi rank just down the road. Not that you need it as walking is the best part. We would highly recommend Deko hotel and look forward to coming back.

Marco and Serena have redefined what it takes to be a great hotel. The hotel is located in one of the most exclusive areas of Rome within a short distance from the Spanish steps and stone's throw from the marvellous Villa Borghese.

We had a guide book but never opened it. From the moment we arrived and were handed a prosecco by Marco he gave us a long explanation of where to go, eat, drink and how to do it. It was a wonderful window into Rome as seen by the Romans. The advice and help was never ending. Every day we refined our itinerary to perfection with the help of Serena. The restaurant recommendations were sublime, everything from the tiniest bar to the grandest hotel.

That was not all, the rooms were beautifully appointed. We used the complimentary ipad, free minibar and the bed was the most comfortable I can remember. Every day we went down the steps into the grand entrance lobby was a new adventure. One evening we came back early just as Marco and Serena were leaving on their Vespa for dinner! We had a really enjoyable holiday.

We booked two Context Tours (US online company). One of the vatican was 5 hours long and allowed us to jump all the queues. The guide was an academic and was truly amazing. Expensive but superb. We also took a Context tour of the Villa Borghese which was shorter but fantastic too. The Villa Borghese is a must see and so close to Deko,

We loved the restaurant Zimbertos recommended by Marco. We dined at the Hotel Eden but felt it over priced and not worth the money. We loved Rosseta's the fish restaurant by the Pantheon, expensive but fantastic.

The churchs were the real revelation for me. There are so many stunning churches in Rome, they are free and jammed with works by the great masters. I never tired of seeing them.

I cannot recommend Deko highly enough. We wil be back.

I booked here because of consistency of the reviews and because if its excellent location, in fact i walked everything i wanted to see in 2 days and had a ball. Marco helped me locating attractions on a map and this was for me of utter importance. The role of guiding you to a good place to eat can't be matched by any website (yet). In the morning i was swiftly helped with locating and printing a boarding pass (Ryanair charges you if you don't have one at check-in!!). Basically Deko touches a kind of empathic hospitality which is rare to find but actually extremely welcome and i guess for many people quite unexpected!

I won't go over what everyone else has already said but Marco & Serena are what makes this place No1, don't hesitate to go for their eating & drinking recommendations and you won't go far wrong. Fabulous hospitality.

Staying at Deko Rome was the very best decision we made regarding our trip to Rome. Serena and Marco assisted us with everything, from arranging a taxi from the airport, helping with tickets to various sights, dinner recommendations and reservations, the list could go on and on. Our breakfasts were always wonderful, food and company included. Serena would always assist us with our plan for the day and make sure we had everything we needed. Having never visited Rome, we had no idea what to expect and how to go about the sights of the city. Serena and Marco helped with all of it and now we cannot wait to return. Thank you for making it a trip we will never forget. We miss you already! -Elizabetta e Gregorio

Serena and Marco have created a unique combination of a boutique hotel in a great location with a friendly, personal and, in our opinion, a unique attention to detail to make our stay in Rome a fabulous experience.
Deko Rome is a small intimate 6 room hotel in a quiet yet convenient quarter of Rome directly opposite the American Embassy (which helps to describe the type of area that Deko Rome is in). The rooms are stylish clean well equipped and have a very comfortable bed and linen. Our room (4) was facing inwards away from the street into the courtyard and was very quiet. The fridge is refreshed daily with spring water, coke and beer.
On arrival Serena gave us an invaluable description of personally recommended restaurants, sights to see, ice-cream parlours, travel advice around Rome, tips to avoid queuing, etc etc ! We used that map and Serena's recommendations throughout our 5 day visit - and without fault each recommendation was proven to be worthwhile.
Arrival back at the hotel in the evening after a day touring the city was greeted by Marco presenting us with glasses of Prosecco (courtesy of Marco) or coffee/tea - we would have a chat through what we saw, what we were planning, and once again Marco would be offering us helpful constructive advice as to how to get the best from our time.
Breakfast was a platter of fresh fruit, bread, cheese, ham, fresh coffee/tea, yogurt, croissant - all gorgeous...and substantial. Marco would arrange taxi's, reserve restaurants, and whatever it took to make us and their guests achieve what we wanted. We have stayed in a large number of hotels, large and small, around the world, however Serena and Marco have created a unique style and intimacy that truly works. The decor is elegant, clean and really stylish, the location is far enough from the city to be quiet yet near enough to be convenient - approx 15 mins walk to Spanish Steps, and Serena and Marco are fabulous hosts. Deko Rome is not your large (impersonal) city centre hotel - if this is what you are looking for there are many to choose from. If small and intimate is your preference Deko Rome is highly recommended. Like many others before us we absolutely support the view that Deko Rome should be #1 in Rome.
(Will also include a number of reviews for restuarants - to follow)

Room Tip: Room 4 - inward facing to courtyard - very quiet.

Yes, the fantastic reviews are true! My husband and I spent 9 nights at Deko Rome in March. Serena and Marco were the best hosts. They gave us help and advise to make our adventures go well. Having been to Rome before, we were interested in more out of the way sites. Thanks to their help we were able to use the metro and bus system with ease. The location is super! Our room was a nice size, with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was very modern. The breakfast each morning was a great way to start the day and a beverage and chat in the evening was a nice touch. They were more than happy to make reservations (and change reservations). This is truly a gem of a place.
