“Superb tasting menu!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We started with drinks inside the Hotel d'Inghilterra - a lovely little wood panelled bar with an excellent barman.

We then were shown to our table outside the hotel's restaurant in a quiet side street of central Rome. The tables were elegant and classy (as were the clientele) and there was terrific jazz background music from inside.

Our waiting staff were lovely and helped us choose - we opted for the 47euro, four course tasting menu that was brilliant and fantastic value. Every course was delicious and was meticulously prepared.

If you want an upmarket, high quality meal in classy, atmospheric surroundings without breaking the bank go to the Cafe Romano.

One small downside - there is a sign outside promoting aperitifs at 11euro. We ordered an Aperol Spritz and a Gin and Tonic and while the Aperol was priced accordingly the G&T was charged at 20euro - not an aperitif apparently. The cost was deducted at the end of our meal though so full marks for attending to a cock up.

“Food not so good”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

Elegant restaurant with waiters who tried hard but not what I expected for the inviting decor and prices. I am a foodie from Los Angeles and the food was not good. I had a Veal shank that came out luke warm. It was cooked through but not hot. It also was in a sort of weird shape for a braised shank. My sister had the Vegetarian dish and it also was not hot. We didn't stay for the dessert or coffee and were just anxious to leave. More detail in the kitchen will lead to more detail by the service staff. When we walk out we noticed everyone who ordered the lobster pasta looked pretty happy.

“Good food with even better service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

My boyfriend and myself were looking for a nice restaurant to eat after a long day spent to visit the city and this restaurant looked very nice.
I had the pasta with lobster and my boyfriend took the veal. The quality of the food was very good but it was a little bit pricey for the quantity.
We shared the Tiramisù for dessert and, by experience, I can say that it was the authentic Italian Tiramisù.

The waiters were very helpful and efficient, especially Marco who took very good care of us.
At the end of our dinner, after paying the bill, my boyfriend decided to order a coffee that they actually made complimentary which we thought was a very nice gesture.

“Great food, even better serivce”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

We were just out looking and found Café Romano. Service was prompt and very communicative, they were concerned with our comfort at all times and food was creative. I particularly liked the Octopus and shrimp appetizer but really everything was the best. We had the cheese plate at the end and it was both large and good choices.

I will be back. They even helped me pronounce Trastavere.............

Not inexpensive but well worth it.

“Best meal we had in Rome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

Other meals we had in Rome were about the same price - 2x 3 course meals plus 1 bottle of wine and 2 coffees came to €130. The quality of food compared to other restaurants we visited was far superior. The service was good - waiters were friendly and helpful, and the food took a reasonable time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would visit again.
