Owner description: The huge success of "Cinecitta Shows Off" confirmed his values and convinced the studios to proceed the project which grows up and gets new: more spaces dedicated to sceneries, completely new the part of the costumes and some accessories exposed in the dedicated spaces. Cinecitta Shows Off traces the history of Cinecitta: scenes, costumes, sets, characters – actors, directors, producers – who passed through what we called The Dream Factor. The new area "Backstage" is an educational and interactive environment to discover the world of film making. The exhibition is open every day (closed on Tuesday) from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm (ticket office close at 5.30 pm). To buy tickets, click here. Cinecitta also allows guided tours of permanent sets, with the purpose of cultural entertainment. For our customers, we propose different kind of visit that offers the unique opportunity discover "behind the scenes" a real film production company.Going through the gate that separates the real world from wonderland, you get the feeling of being in contact with a legend understanding why it's called the Factory of Dreams. The same feeling that charmed Fellini and that convinced Scorsese to shoot right at Cinecitta his Gangs of New York and still allows a lot of directors to work with us.

I love the idea of touring a film studio - especially one as famous as this. Some faded film set streets - roman one was great though - tour guide was wonderful speaking in italian and English. Was ok but far too expensive for what it was. I would not recommend.

It was always one of my goals to see where the HBO Mini-series "ROME" was produced - and the sets are mostly intact (some were lost to a recent fire). This tour is NOT Universal Studios. The groups are small and you must walk throughout the tour. The guide is knowledgeable (both English and Italian are offered) but the exhibits are very interesting (especially the special tribute to Fellini).
Don't forget to ask for a seniors discount!

Take underground METRO A - last stop "Cinecittà" and you emerge straight at the entrance.
Tickets for € 20,00 inclusive of set guided walk, also available in English or French, discounts available for seniors, students or families. Undoubtely a location to visit if you are a film lover (american kolossals like BEN HUR have been filmed here). More than 600,000 square meters, 4 pools (external one with a port where BEN HUR's sea battle has been filmed), 16 theatres.
The guided walk took us into several sets (one was Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York", the other was the British-American production serial "ROME", the third was Carlo Carlei's "Romeo and Juliet") as well as to the famous Federico Fellini's "Studio 5".
The visit can be completed at the museum of cinema watching its first steps from foundation in 1937 to today's triumphs like Ridley Sott's "THE GLADIATOR" or diferent famous italian tv series.
One morning to visit it all: first visit starts at 10 am.

So the staff were not friendly at all. It was unfortunate we went on a quite day because I expect the place is a bit more lively when it is busier. But due to the quietness (i expect) none of the staff members looked like they wanted to be there.

We were walked round some pretty impressive sets - which gained the average rating but the tour itself let it down.

Comparing to other tours I have been on, this one was not good.

Cinecitta is worth while trip out of the inner city. The whole plan and vision of this movie city is interesting and shows how moviemaking is a part of our modern history for better and worse.
We had a guided English tour of the place after seeing the exhibtions, which explain moviemaiking in asimple and interactive way. The exhibition isn't too large, so it's easy, I guess, even for kids to keep their focus. The tour through different ever changing sets leaves you in awe of the set makers skills to "fake" sceneries. And surprising to see the lack of attention to details, when it comes to being historically correct. the fact that the outdoor and indoor studios are in use while you're passing by, just makes it so much more exciting...
