We would definitely recommend the Gran Melia Rome - very well located in a beautiful part of Rome, and it is an absolutely beautiful looking and clean hotel. It's upmarket so everyone is dressed beautifully (still very relaxed though) and it always smells so good! The spa is lovely and the manager there is just delightful. The concierge and the front desk staff are superb also - very obliging and helpful. The pool bar staff can be slow in taking and delivering orders but are still very nice people. The staff at breakfast are wonderful. A lovely breakfast buffet. Great food - you get a nespresso machine in your room. The extras and room service etc are expensive - it's not a budget hotel. But if you are wanting some luxury and georgeous appointments in a hotel in Rome this is a great choice - we would use the Gran Melia chain again based on this experience.

My husband and I visited Rome in September 2013. It was our first trip to the city, and we have to say that the Gran Melia Hotel really made the holiday memorable. The hotel feels like a hidden resort in the middle of the city, right by the Vatican. After a busy day sightseeing, it was great to be able to walk up the hill and relax in an oasis of calm. We were upgraded to a Premium room, and it was spacious, with modern decor. Staff were attentive and efficient. We would definitely recommend.

We visited Rome in the end of September with our children and stayed at Gran Melia Roma Villa Agrippina. The hotel is very well located, really close to the Vatican. The suites are very spacious and the decor is good. It is very, very clean and really relaxing. There are always little treats waiting for you every night. The bathroom products are from Clarins and smell fantastic. The Red Glove Concierge is very useful as they will help you with excursions and tickets to galleries there is a special Red lounge were you can have a snack and a drink anytime during the day and early evening, this proved great for our children. The hotel is very close to really fantastic local restaurants. Overall, we really had a great stay in Rome. Galleries, museums, beautiful piazzas and fountains and in the end of the day you can relax by the pool before you decide to venture out again for the evening. Perfect!!

We spent one night here whilst in Rome and I was extremely pleased. It is on the top end of the price range for Rome and it deserves its 5 stars. Why?

Knowledgeable and friendly staff
Beautiful hotel grounds
Really nice pool area (didn't get a chance to use it but had a look around)
Fantastic amenities in the hotel (clarin's bathroom amenities)
Walking distance to Vatican museum and St. Peter's Basilica
Fantastic ambience in the hotel (mood lighting and music throughout)

I was staying with a friend but I'd say the hotel is better suited for couples - there is a glass screen between the bedroom and the bathroom (although there is a rolling blind its still very see through). And from what we gathered all the rooms are like that. Otherwise pure luxury!

This was the best hotel I stayed during my whole trip to Spain and Italy.
I stayed here 3 nights and this was Fantastic in every way.
Every one from bellboys, front desk, housekeeping, resturant, shuttle service was providing 6 star service. This was the very best. I travel a lot and I consider it as one of the best hotels I have stayed at.

We went to Rome and spent one night and two days. the service was excellent.
The Spa is something that is really special.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was good but they had an event on that I think may have compromised the quality.
