“Excelent hotel, BUT no bathroom privacy!”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

The hotel is in an excellent location within 5 minutes of walking distance from the Vatican city, and 30 walking minutes (at most) from Rome major attraction areas. The staff is excellent and very friendly. The only - and perhaps the major problem is that the bathrooms in the rooms are horrible as there is no privacy!! Showers are separated by a clear glass from the bedroom, so if you dont mind (for example) your teenage(rs) see you while taking a shower (or vise versa) then go ahead. The ventilation system in the bathrooms dont seem to work properly either.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reporting your experience at Gran Meliá Rome Villa Agrippina.

While glad to learn that you appreciated our service, the Resort’s location and above all our Staff passion for service, I am afraid to realize your discontent as to the room décor in reference to the bathroom, which has got a contemporary style.

Our historical property offers a range of different room categories, according to our Guests' needs and length of each stay. Since some of the rooms provide more privacy, I do hope that you will decide to have another occasion to visit us, requiring the room category more suitable for your needs.
At this regard, please do not hesitate to contact me directly in order to personally take care of all the details of your future stay.

Such a good perception of your whole experience deserves a second occasion to be fully enjoyed!

We will be waiting for you...

Kindest Regards,

Maria Ansalone

From first arrival, the staff here were absolutely charming and made us feel so welcome. We were lucky enough to have our room upgraded, and wow - what a wonderful room we were given! A highlight was the beautiful shower (really so big it was a 'room' in its own right), surrounded by plate glass between the bathroom and bedroom. The hi-tech coffee machine took some mastering, but provided wonderful and plentiful drinks. The room was quiet, with no noise from the road or other guests.

Breakfast is spectacular! Staff are so attentive, kind and friendly... and the food is superb. There's a huge selection of fruits, meats, breads, cereals, hot food and pastries. The pool is a delight, and you really feel it's an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city outside. We were a little unlucky with the weather, and had some deluges of rain... still, it's an idyllic spot, and it's definitely appealing to be able to retreat into your own Roman villa after a day pounding the streets.

There's not a lot right next to the hotel (except the Vatican of course, which is next door), but a 10/15 minute walk along the river takes you to Trastavere, which has plenty of good restaurants. There's also a regular shuttle service from the hotel into the city centre, which is useful. (Beware dodgy taxi drivers... one of the ones the front desk called for us scammed us with a fake 'surcharge' and was pretty aggressive.)

Overall, staying at the Gran Melia was a relaxing, luxurious experience and I'd recommend it to anyone. We very much hope to return!

Hotel is lovely-rooms very clean and modern and staff are lovely.
However, would never return because you can hear EVERYTHING!!!
Do not stay in this hotel if you want sleep. My husband and I could hear people walking in rooms above us!! This is a perfect place to stay if you don't intend to nap and you don't mind been woken up in the morning with thuds etc.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions about your recent stay at Gran Meliá Rome Villa Agrippina.

Each of our Guests’ comments is valuable for us to monitor the high service quality we strive to offer.

Since we do take the comfort of our guests very seriously at our Luxury Urban Resort, aiming to convert each journey into memorable experiences, we do regret very much to realize your discontent as to the noise you mention, as our guests always described our property as a peaceful oasis where to enjoy a relaxing experience.

Considering that we do provide a range of different rooms’ categories, we could have supported you in moving to a further quieter corner of the floor, in order to better meet your needs.

We do pride ourselves on our exceptionally high standard of service and we are afraid to learn that you are not willing to come back to live the whole experience you could not perceive this time.

I believe that your appreciation as to our passion for service and the beauty of the Resort and its surroundings, deserve a second chance to fully live the Gran Meliá Rome experience!

I would be glad to personally assist you in the organization of your next stay if you decide to visit us again in the future.

Kindest Regards,

Maria Ansalone

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great experience with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had some great restaurant recommendations as well as useful advice on how to get around the city. The concierge catered to my time frame and continued to follow up on my two night stay there. My stay focused on visiting Vatican City and it was very convenient to walk there for the various activities going on during Christmas. The daily shuttle dropped us off at a location that put us very close to many of the major attractions. The breakfast buffet provided each morning helped my family start off right. If you are looking for a great hotel experience and not just a place to crash for the night, this might be the right place for you.

What a hotel. À small , calm village on its own, at a 10 min walk from Saint-Peter's place. 5 stars service, including dilicious breakfast, great cocktails and food in the Nectar restaurant. We didn't try the Michelin star rewarded Viva Voce restaurant, since we were travelling wirh children. But they (and so did I) loved THE cheese burger.
On walking distance of THE city centre, Rome is never far away ....

This was a trip for two nights to rome with my friend. This hotels location is the best and feels like a resort. I really enjoyed my stay here and had no issues at all! Service was top and so was the Concierge that made a nice booking at one nice of the nicer resturants. I really recomend everyone to stay here. It can be pricey but its worth it if you plane to go to Rome. I will stay here next time again.
