We were wandering around Rome and after terrible service and poor quality at expensive prices we found this place. The food & wine (while expensive against other restaurants in the area) was well worth it.
They provided very personal service and were super attentive - which is not what we experienced at other restaurants in the area. The owner even spent time chatting with us.
The sea bass was spectacular and perfectly cooked. You got to physically choose which bass you wanted. The tartuffo and the bolognese pasta were awesome and perfectly cooked/prepared. An expensive, but MUST DO opportunity. You will not regret it.

“One of the best! ”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

We were searching for a place to dine at 11 pm in Rome and we found out that almost all the restaurants near the hotel we were staying were closing. However, there was this nice place near Plaza di Spagna which caught our attention and was open until the last costumer. The owner got out to speak to us and pursue us to go in for dinner, such a nice old man! When we ordered our dishes came out to be more than we though they would be and we got stuffed just with the antipasto. The owner came to talk to us again and showed up the types of pasta before cooked for us to choose which one we wanted and what kind of fish we would like. We didn't know if we could eat that but when the plates arrived, all of us felt delighted with a great quality pasta and we ate it all even stuffed! The owner also was pleased when we said we were from Brazil and started playing samba and bossa nova in the restaurant for us. Excellent food and a very nice service. Good people and a nice place to go. A very good recommendation for brazilian people!

“Ridiculously expensive”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Boy do I wish I had read some reviews of the place before we went. Our hotel concierge at the Westin had recommended a fabulous place the night before so we blindly followed his 2nd suggestion. When the waiter leads you to the fish tray and pushes you to order his personal favorites beware. Our salt covered sea bass cost 80 euro and the scorpion fish over 40. The service was terrible and the price ridiculous. The food was nothing special. Avoid this ripoff

“Warm and welcoming”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

We were wandering looking for a place to have dinner and came upon the restaurant and invited inside by a lovely young woman at the door. It was early in the evening so for the longest time we were the only diners, and the service genuinely warm and prompt. Food was wonderful and the Italian speaking owner came over to chat, with translation to English being assisted by our server. Prices on the higher side, but well worth the cost as the meal was perfectly prepared and felt like family when we left!

“Lovely Decor, Even the Fish and Shells”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

We are from Florida so fresh fish and seashells are overused as decor in every other restaurants. However, this restaurant combined shells with tubes of shaped blown glass to create interesting lighting. They also had a delightful collection of colorful fish displayed for selection.

We both ordered the three course "prix fixe" lunch. In the Italian tradition the meal consists of several elements: the salad, the antipasto, the pasta course(course one) and the meat course (course two ) followed by the dolce ( sweet). My husband chose to have a cold Pasta salad with penne, corn, beans, tomato, parsley and tuna which he thought was an excellent blend of flavors, as course one and grilled veal and potatoes for course two. I had a spaghetti for course one and also chose the veal which I thought was perfectly prepared. We had a tasty creme brulee for dessert. We had water and I had a beer. This was a lovely way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. The maitre de was very kind but not intrusive and the waitress invited us to come back to have some fresh fish, which we will do. Our total bill was a total of 40 euros.

I noticed the last review of the Malafemmena was written in 2012 and I would venture to say that it is greatly improved. It is just off VIA DEL BABUINO, a high end shopping street with inviting windows.
