We visited Rome in October 2013 and had a half-day tour with our kids, 8 and 10, of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel with Flavia Serangeli. Flavia was superb! She highlighted major art and historical details of the vatican, but also pointed our other minor ones that we would otherwise never had noticed. She was also very good with the children and drew them into what could otherwise be a somewhat overwhelming experience. We highly recommend Flavia for a small group or family visit of historical sites in Rome.

My husband and I are well traveled and recently spent two weeks in Italy. I did a great deal of research trying to find someone in Rome who was knowledgeable and spoke English clearly. I ended up corresponding with Flavia via email and hired her to take us on a tour of the Vatican and also of the Coliseum, Forum and Palatine Hill.

WOW! She was most gracious and extremely knowledgeable. On our next trip to Rome you can be assured that we will definitely give her a call. She is also available for excursions outside of Rome.

We arranged a Vatican Museum-Sistine Chapel tour with Guia Bargigli, who helped us secure reservations and tickets to avoid the long lines at this popular attraction. On the day of our visit, Guia was ill, but Paola Bargigli met us at the arranged time/location and provided a memorable tour.

We were impressed with Paola's exhaustive knowledge of history, architecture, and of course art - she was able to identify meaningful examples amount the thousands of art works to provide the insight and interpretation that we wanted. We also appreciated her professionalism - we've had other tours where the guides act more as entertainers, making up for limited knowledge with jokes and patter. Paola was thoroughly engaging, but clearly took her job seriously, helping us gain an understanding of the significance of the Vatican collection that might otherwise have been overwhelming. Her English is remarkable: she explains subtle, important concepts very clearly. We felt confident that whatever question we might throw at her, she was prepared with an appropriate answer.

Hiring a private tour isn't cheap, but offers a visitor the potential to gain insight and understanding not otherwise available. By doing a tour with Paola, we felt that our experience was enhanced and our money well spent.

From the moment Guia first responded to our inquiry for "'Roman tours" we were most impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. We told her that we had 30 days to spend in and around Rome. Within a couple of weeks she sent us an itinerary that included all of the sights that we had requested and many more that she had recommended. She arranged for our transportation to and from the airport and the tours of the surrounding areas with courteous, professional drivers. We knew exactly when and where to be for each daily adventure. Among the many places we visited were ancient Rome - the Coliseum, Pantheon, and Catacombs; museums such as the Vatican Museum and Saint Peter's Basilica, Borghese Gallery, and the Capitoline Museum; and areas nearby such as Assisi, Ostia Antica, Cerveteri, and Tarquinia.

Her understanding of Roman history, architecture, art and culture and her ability to convey this knowledge to us made this the best most memorable experience of our 25 years of overseas travel.

In addition, she also recommended professional guides such as Flavia for archaeological sights in and around Rome and guides for Napoli and Cinque Terra.

Without reservation, we absolutely recommend Guia for both the planning and the guiding of tours in Rome.

Our family spent 12 nights in Rome over the Christmas Holiday in 2013. We engaged Guia Bargigli as our tour guide for three separate outings. Our first tour with her was a Christmas Walk where we saw the 100 Prescepi, several beautiful but somewhat out of the way and unique churches with their Prescepi, some monuments and a stop for espresso with gelatto which was unforgettable!! Our next tour was the Vatican Museum and here, Guia's knowledge of art history and her enthusiasm and compassion for the art shone through. We loved listening to each description, back story on the painting, the social climate of the day, the artist and the patron who commissioned the piece. Our last tour was through Borghese Gallery. Again, her love of art the deep understanding of the works was incredible. The two hours there sped by.

Guia brings a unique perspective to the art. She has a deep and profound understanding of all aspects of the work - not just the subject and artist but the composition, why it is unique, how it was received by society, and so on. She easily 'read' our family and adapted her style and tour length to our ability to absorb it all. She was recognized by many other guides as we when through the attractions and clearly has their respect as well.

I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone at anytime for any of the tours she offers. Her vision and understanding brought life to the many, many pieces that would not have been possible by reading a guide book or listening to an audio tour
