Within walking distance to your favourite shops, tourist spots, and of course great eats, this hotel is a gem in Rome. We arrived in our rented Audi and already the car rental guy was there ready to pick up the return, so entering the lobby of this artsy hotel was a double blessing for the tired eyes. Greeted by an unusual stone cow with telephones sitting on top immediately fired the arty thoughts for me. The staff were very welcoming, buzzing around, and dealt with our check-in easily. The room was beautifully appointed, though a bit tight if you have big luggage like the both of us. A little balcony added an nice outdoor feel to a very elegant room. Two bookcases adorned left and right of the king bed we asked for. There was a nice rooftop bar that we enjoyed one last moonlit starry night, where you can easily see the Vatican from. Being right in the heart of the bustle of Rome, we did not try any of the F&B outlets in the hotel though, but it is a hotel we can easily return to.

Positives:
Great location close to shopping and restaurants (they are everywhere), very nice and polite staff, nice modern decor, it`s been open for about 6 months so all the furniture etc have no wearing. The other guests at the hotel looked very trendy and Rome is not a trendy place. During warmer months of the year the wonderful rooftop would be a great hangout. Good pillows and lots of them! Every day the cleaning staff left a note letting us know the weather for the next day and a little chocolate. Huge shower.

Negatives:
Even at NYE the rooftop bar was closed. The SPA had not opened yet :( I had to go to Hotel Russie close by to go to the SPA to have my nails done for NYE. The roomservice food was lukewarm upon arrival. The beds are a little bit hard. The rooms are said to be soundproof but we could hear the Michael Buble being played in the hallway all day long (no trouble for us however). This is an art hotel but all the frames in our room were empty all three nights as they were changing the artwork. The only English speaking TV channels were BBC and MTV - no movies! (This was a bummer on Jan 1st when we were really hung over). The TV is placed really far away from bed so not ideal to watch from bed. The view from the room looked straight down where the cleaning staff took out the garbage etc. The lighting is too dim!

Room Tip: The 206 did not have a nice view, but other rooms might.

This hotel is called the first, and it is true is just the first, number one, good choice to set up in a real art gallery, the inside is very elegant, beautiful their restaurant, where we ate really well, is not very economical as a hotel but if you want the best these is money really well spent, thanks to the concierge for having recommended then Porto di Ripetta restaurant good advice!

We recently stayed here for four nights and highly recommend the hotel. In particular, the staff went well above and beyond -- from the moment we walked in, they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We loved the in-room check-in, the quality of the bed and linens, the antipasti and drinks at the bar, the large bathroom in the room, the fantastic roof deck with lovely views, the strong and dependable wifi, and well, just about everything else. I'm generally one to find fault, but I'd be hard pressed to complain about anything. And above all else, the staff were just wonderful. Stay here!

My wife and I stayed at the First Hotel for three nights for a Rome city trip. The hotel is very well located in a quiet side street that is close to Via del Corso and Piazza del Popolo. It is new and stylish with works of contemporary art displayed in the public areas. A beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant offers nice views of the city and is great for chilling as dusk sets in after a day of sightseeing.

We stayed in a regular room which was fairly small but very comfortable and well appointed. There is no spa or gym at the hotel yet but we were told this is coming soon.

A problem with WiFi at our floor was expediously corrected, and service was attentive and personal. The only drawback was that the breakfast buffet was rather limited as is often the case in smaller boutique hotels.

I definitely recommend this hotel for its style, ambiance, service and location, and would stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at the first art hotel in Rome for three nights in mid-September to celebrate my birthday.

The Hotel is very well positioned in the heart of Rome close to the Piazza Del Popolo. We were welcomed warmly at reception and escorted to our room, where we received explanation of the working of the air-con and very high-tech shower, etc, by a charming receptionist and our bags were delivered by an equally friendly staff member a few moments later. Whilst not especially large, our room was beautifully furnished, with an extremely comfortable bed and a very stylish bathroom; though, along with two basins and lavatory and a bidet, it included only a shower - I am a fan of soaking in the bath and always find it slightly disappointing not to have one available.

The decor and artwork in the hotel are very attractive and the furnishings of the ground floor bar are stylish in the extreme. The pièce de résistance for us was the superb rooftop bar/restaurant. We dined there on one of our evenings in Rome and the meal was very good, rather than exceptional. However, in the wonderful warm September evening weather, both dining and enjoying cocktails on the rooftop bar was a total pleasure. The view was pretty spectacular as well.

The one observation of concern that I would make, which I notice has been echoed by another recent reviewer, is the extent to which sounds from the adjacent room very easily found their way to ours via, seemingly, the connecting door. Fortunately, we were only disturbed in this way on a couple of mornings shortly before we were due to get out of bed anyway, but it was extremely surprising the extent to which there was limited - indeed virtually no - soundproofing between the rooms. Music was being played in the room next door, clearly not at an excessive volume, but it was as clear as if it were alongside our bed. The same was true of human voices/conversation. Were I to stay in this hotel again, which I would be prepared to do, I would insist on a room that did not have a connecting door to the adjacent one.

I just returned from spending 3 nights at this new hidden gem in Rome. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite and sent a bottle of prosecco on arrival. The rooms were sleek yet very inviting decor. Very comfortable beds and linens, high ceilings and quiet. Really nice bar on the roof with super views. This will be my go to hotel in Rome from now on.
