We spent three days at this modern hotel in an ancient location. Service was first rate, warm welcome from all staff, a warm and friendly ambience. Our room was large, clean and comfortable and easily passed our standard towel test - large and fluffy! Breakfast in the Michelin star restaurant was delightful and delicious. Location was perfect for access to major sites in Rome. We will return.

A small luxurious hotel well located for sightseeing and shopping. Spacious rooms that are well decorated exist within this modern building which opened three years ago. After researching, our only question was the quality of service. The staff was amazingly friendly and attentive. We spent four nights on the front end of our trip and were so happy with the hotel that we decided to return for two more nights before returning to the U.S. Among the best hotels we have ever experienced.

Room Tip: Stayed in 303 and 306 which were spacious, quiet and comfortable.

We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. We wish it had been longer! We opted for a honeymoon package which included a room upgrade and dinner in the hotel restaurant. Location is wonderful. We walked to most of the major sights (yes, in just two days....we were exhausted and wished we had given ourselves more time!!)...All the staff were most helpful and not overly intrusive, which I hate when you go to some hotels...The room was great, lovely decor, heavenly bed - although a little dark and dimly lit. It was a welcome cool retreat after a day of sightseeing. The bathroom, although lovely (separate deep tub and large shower cubicle, nice toiletries) was also pretty dark. Luckily we had two large windows which let daylight into the room but getting ready for dinner was more of a challenge - there was one light in the bathroom that was bright enough to see your face properly underneath - we both jostled for a spot underneath it - him shaving his face and me putting on my makeup! A word of warning - it seems the norm in Italian hotels not to provide an iron....so make sure you arrive with a case full of freshly pressed clothes, or be prepared to pay $$ for a pressing service....
Anyhow, once we made it out in the evening we headed up to the rooftop bar - it was great - such a stunning view of the rooftops of Rome. We had a few drinks and tried to take some artistic pictures.
The only downside for us was the dinner that was included in our room rate. The food was nice but we weren't allowed to order from the usual menu. I was disappointed as I'd already looked at the menu online and had planned what I was going to order :0( Instead, it was a set menu that the chef decided on. We probably should have asked more about this but we are both confrontation averse! If it had been specified that this was to be the case we probably wouldn't have gone for that room rate to be honest. The restaurant was also very quiet and a little lacking in ambience for us.
Despite this I would still happily stay here again in a heartbeat!

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on Trip Advisor and for having chosen The First for such a special occasion.

In Italy it is not common to leave an iron in the room since it is considered a fire hazard, however upon request we could exceptionally offer our guests to use our iron which has a special safety measure. As for the lack of lighting, our rooms and decors are designed for a more romantic atmosphere but your are absolutely right that additional lighting could be placed in the bathroom. We would look into it and find ways to resolve the situation in the future.

About the dinner menu we are sorry that it was not to your expectation. Normally our package includes a 3-course tasting menu exclusively designed and prepared by our Chef to allow our guests to explore the culinary specialties of the house using fresh seasonal ingredients. We however have taken a good note and will add this description our our package information.

Despite the constructive comments we are pleased to know that you have had an enjoyable stay and that you appreciate our rooftop terrace and our attentive and friendly staff.

We hope to see you in the future, perhaps for your anniversary, and until then we are sending you our warmest regards and congratulations for your new future together.

Sincerely yours,

Giuseppe Falconieri

We stayed here with our five-year old daughter enroute to a conference/family vacation in Campania. The is a very nice hotel centrally located to all of Rome's major sites. The rooms are modern, well-appointed and very clean, and the staff, for the most part, are friendly and competent. If you come with a car be prepared to pay a lot for parking (EUR40). Breakfast was okay but nothing to write home about and the breakfast service staff, while friendly, were not especially attentive. This hotel bills itself as 5 star, but don't expect the Four Seasons. It's closer to a well-run, nicely appointed four star. I would stay here again without hesitation but I don't feel like it's quite deserving a full 5 star review.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on trip advisor. We are glad to hear that you will return to visit us again without hesitation, we are however sorry that we are not up to your 5 star expectations.

Despite the fact that our Food and Beverage outlets are being managed by our partner All'Oro it is not an excuse to not give the 5-star service as the rest of the hotel. We are sorry about our lack of attention in this regards and we will definitely put extra effort to ensure that all our clients receive the an excellent service throughout all hotel facilities.

Confident that you will receive only 5-star service next time, we really hope to have the occasion soon to welcome you back soon.

Sincerely yours,

We were impressed right from the start. We booked via the BA web site which included Club Europe seats on the flights and Breakfast (30 euros each normally). Checking in took us about 30 mins, but in a good way because the chap was very thorough in his introduction to the hotel and to Rome and welcomed with a glass of Prosecco.
We were celebrating 30 years of marriage and they gave us an upgraded room, (Junior Suite 305), which was really terrific and couldn’t have been better. There was a turn down service in the evening, with a small chocolate and a bottle of water each. The room had a ‘mirror’ TV, and free coffee (Nespresso machine) and tea. The bath towels were huge and almost unmanageable. The overall service, atmosphere and feeling of the whole place was terrific and in a good position.
A great experience - not cheap, but we can recommend with condense and would definitely stay here again if we return to Rome.

Spent ages reviewing hotels in Rome and felt very smug when we arrived at the First Luxury Art Hotel. It was absolutely perfect.

The welcome we received was very personal and special. Our suite was upgraded (101) with a welcome bottle of prosecco. The hotel is just amazing. Do not listen to any bad reports I sometimes feel some people will always find something to moan about. The roof top bar has views around Rome and it was just so wonderful to see the city. All the staff were friendly and breakfast delicious .

The best thing about the hotel was its location walking distance to everywhere The Vatican, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps and the Pantheon within 10 minutes walk.

The restaurant in the hotel is a Michelin star restaurant but there are some lovely restaurants within walking distance. Ad Hoc superb, La Buca Ripetta delicious but best of all Taverna Ripetta (158 via Ripetta) which I just want to tell everyone to go to. The food is excellent service friendly and it is great value for money. I booked all the restaurants online before getting to Rome which I would recommend .

Enjoy. I will definitely recommend this hotel.
