Came for dinner on the recommendation of our hotel and so glad we did. Efficient service, diverse but not over-whelming menu, and delicious food. Enjoyed bean and pasta zuppa, ricotta ravioli that I will dream about, and a simply prepared fish. The sauce on the ravioli was so light, yet complex in flavor. As we were finishing our meal, three gentlemen (they seemed to be locals as they knew the menu well) sat at a table in front of us and ordered antipasta. Oh my, the plates started coming. I'm not sure what they ordered, but the dishes looked fantastic. Wish I had been a guest at their table to sample a bite or two!

We were in Rome on a short break, and wanted a nice meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Staff in our Hotel recommended La Cantinola, only a few minutes walk from Via Boncompagnie.

Staff made us feel very welcome, and service was really attentive but not intrusive.

A husband and wife team own/run the restaurant

We started our meal with a Martini, and had sparkling water and a nice bottle of Prosecco to accompany our food.

We only wanted a main course, but were provided with various items of antipasti in any event. The bread with oil and garlic was particularly tasty !

My wife had langoustines, and I had sea bass.

Both dishes were very well prepared, and appetising.

We had fruit salad for dessert and coffees

At the end of our meal, we were offered a complimentary alcoholic drink, and my wife was presented with a long-stemmed rose and a souvenir keyring in a presentation box - nice touches !

We ordered pasta, with and without gluten. Service was very polite and nice. Got bread, olive oil and tasty green olives before the food was served. The food was very good. Recommended

Up the road from Barberini Square is a wonderful family run restaurant which serves the most amazing food. The owner and his wife are assisted by 2 waiters who share their enthusiasm for food and good service.
The small restaurant has 4 tables for outdoor dinning. and about 25 tables inside. The lunch crowd consisted of local businessmen and the evening crowd consisted of locals who knew exactly where to find the best food in the area and a few tourist. When you arrive the waiter brings you a bread basket and a plate of a variety of delicious olives. In addition to the fantastic items on the menu, in the evening they have outstanding fresh seafood specials. The spaghetti with vongole was divine. They use high quality olive oil, fresh herbs and garlic to prepare an incredible meal. Even the fresh squeezed orange juice was exceptional. The food was so good that I had lunch and dinner there for at least four days during my recent stay in Rome. Be sure to get there by 7pm when they open for dinner, for by 8:30 it starts to get crowded with the locals. After the second day, it was as if I was eating with family members. The owner and his wife greet you as if you were long lost family members and gave you suggestions to try things that were not on the menu. Try the fresh fried fish platter. The owner and his wife circulate the dinning area making sure that all their customers are satisfied with the food and service. They have fresh fruit for desert and some amazing biscotti.
