I was just in Rome for a night and my family and I decided to stay at the Hotel Lunetta. Last year, I stayed at Hotel Nazionale which was fantastic, so this hotel had a lot to look up to. Personally, I enjoyed it. Most of the hotels in Rome are going to be small, due to the amount of space available in that small city. Hotel Lunetta was cozy and has been newly renovated so its atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The staff is also extremely kind. Breakfast was quite delicious as well, which comes with your stay. What I did not like about this hotel was the space. While in that hotel, I felt slightly cramped and very limited. I know that it is Rome, but the entire layout from the rooms to the lobby feels very smalll.

Room Tip: Ask the staff if they have any larger rooms available. My family had an executive room, but it was s...

We stayed here for four nights in june 2014 and loved the hotel, its staff, and its location. The staff are more than frendly and helpful This central located Hotel is a blessing for walking to all the attractions and the city transport. The suite was quite large by Rome standards, and very well-appointed, The bed and pillows were quality. The breakfast was excellent. The Lunetta is not inexpensive, but you get real value for money.

Room Tip: Get a suite well worth the upgrade

We are a family of 4 from Tennessee (sons ages 11 and 17). We stayed in the family suite... essentially 2 rooms with a shared step down landing (204/205) for 5 nights. (Remember that the lobby is on floor 0 -- Yes, there is an elevator!). One room with the larger bed -- they call it a double but the bed was definitely larger... at one point my younger son was reading on the bed and both my husband and I were resting and had enough space (and we aren't tiny people!). That did mean there wasn't a lot of floor space but it was well planned and maneuverable. There is a safe in the closet, a bureau, and bedside tables along with one chair. Because of the step down landing and the smaller size of the hotel, we were able to keep the boys things in our room and bring them what they needed in the morning without feeling like we were in the way of other guests as we traversed back and forth between the rooms. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Zero street noise despite being near a busy campo. We did not have a view but preferred the quiet.

Breakfast is excellent. The fruit is fresh and included a nice selection, not just apples and bananas... some mornings kiwi or pineapple, others, melon or pears. Pastries were fresh. Coffee with milk was very good. Bottled water was available as was yogurt, crackers, jam, nutella, and a selection of meats and cheeses if you wanted to go savory instead of sweet. On our first morning we had an early tour to Pompeii and the staff quickly packed us bags to take with us.

The hotel is definitely in walking distance of most things (assuming you are a walker). However, since we were going on tours very early most days, it was simpler to have the hotel call a taxi. Most locations were 10 to 15 minutes by taxi and about 10 euros (for the 4 of us, well worth it not to arrive tired for a day of walking). Remember that taxis cannot go in as direct a path as you can walking. There is a very good pastry shop right next door, several gelato places essentially around the corner, a walk up pizza place and a vegetarian sandwich shop also within a few steps of the door. Air conditioning worked great. Used the laundry service 1x -- clothes returned promptly and treated well (not cheap but sometimes necessary when things won't be dry if washed in the room).

The staff was universally friendly and helpful. Most spoke excellent English -- and even those that did not were eager to help. Sometimes as a tourist one can feel as though locals regard you as a necessary evil... that was not so at Hotel Lunetta. We felt like welcome guests.

The upstairs rooftop area is beautiful. We went on our last night (too tired from sight seeing all the other nights).

This was our first visit to Rome (and my first trip to Europe in 30 years) and so was heavily scheduled. We did not have time to enjoy the spa.

I booked the hotel because it seemed like the best of both worlds -- modern facilities but with a history. Here is the ultimate endorsement: if my 83 year old mother were traveling to Rome, I would trust her with the staff at the Hotel Lunetta.

Room Tip: Our rooms 204/205 were very quiet and comfortable.

We got off to a fine start when the hotel upgraded us from a deluxe room to a junior suite for no extra charge. The suite (and its bathroom) were extremely large, immaculate and well-equipped. The bed felt luxuriously comfortable, and we appreciated that there was a general illumination lamp and a flexible reading light on each side. The hotel's boutique size was romantic, the location was ideal, and the friendly staff was helpful, especially in giving us guidance in how to navigate the bus system. We can't speak about the breakfast, since we're night owls who never got up in time. We'll definitely book the Lunetta when we return to Rome.

We wanted to end our trip to Italy in a hotel where we felt somewhat pampered and Hotel Lunetta turned out to be the perfect choice. The room was small, and a bit lacking in closet space, as is often the case with hotels in Europe. That said, it was also charming and comfortable. Our view of the Piazza was lovely. All of the public spaces of the hotel are beautifully maintained and a visit to the spa is a must, at the very least to see the amazing ruins of the Teatro Pomeii beneath the hotel. As others have said, you can't beat the location of Hotel Lunetta--close to Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiori and a quick walk to cross the river to Trastevere! Grazie mille to Carlo, Vittorio and bartender extraordinaire, Alessandro!

Stayed for 4 nights in April 2014. There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about the hotel. Rooms are immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard. The staff are friendly, breakfast is great. There is even a small spa in the basement floor if you have time to use it. The location is great within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions but yet retaining the real character of Rome. Hotel is sound proofed but location is quiet anyway. Great shopping and restaurants in Trastevere. Great market each morning in nearby Campo di Fiori. I would thoroughly recommend Lunetta and will hopefully return again soon.
