“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

I just returned from spending 4 days here with my 14-year-old daughter. The service was excellent – they had advice on how to do everything we wanted to do and helped us with dinner reservations. Always with a smile and never seeming inconvenienced. The location cannot be beat. As it is a 15 minute walk from most sites or a 5 minute cab ride. The Campo di Fiori Is a two-minute walk away and always great for a drink or an evening stroll. The interior furnishings of the room were top class and the AC was strong – greatly appreciated in the summer. The breakfast buffet was plentiful. They even got us a ride to the airport at 430 in the morning and made us a portable breakfast to go for the trip. They are a high-class operation and I will be staying there again.

We stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Lunetta. The hotel is located right off the interesting market square, Campo de' Fiori. Recently gut-renovated, the rooms are clean, comfortable and modern, with large bathrooms for Rome. The staff is enthusiastic, and always helpful with transportation and restaurant recommendations, especially Vittorio and Marco, who were our primary contacts while there. The breakfast is diverse and well-presented, and the location can't be beat - walkable to most major sites. There were lots of nice small touches - chocolates before bedtime, umbrellas to borrow if it rained (and it did, every day!). We did not use the spa, but it looked very nice. The hotel is built on the ruins of an ancient Roman theater, and you can see the old walls from the spa.

After much research about where to stay in Rome to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary we decided upon the Hotel Lunetta and were more than happy with our choice. We stayed for four nights in June 2014. The hotel is the perfect place to be based for visiting the many sites of Rome (walking times 2 mins to Campo di Fiori, 10-20 minutes to Piazza Navona, Pantheon and 20-30 minutes to Colosseum, Vatican City. )

From check in to check out the staff at the Hotel Lunetta were exceptional and were always on hand to offer advice about how to navigate the city, to the best places to eat. I would like to thank Anna who was fantastic throughout our stay. On the day of my birthday she remembered and wished me Happy Birthday, which I thought that was a nice touch. She suggested a number of wonderful restaurants to visit in the Trastevere area a 10-minute walk from the hotel and they didn't disappoint. We particularly liked La Scala.

Our room 103 was clean and well appointed with wonderful shower. The room was soundproofed from outside noise but internally we could hear a lot of noise from the room next door and from the room above us. Included in our stay at the Hotel Lunetta was breakfast, which was a self-service buffet, which had a nice selection of cereals, pastries, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juices etc. Also included in our stay was use of the hotel spa. Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to use it, however I wish I’d booked a few treatments after the long, hot days spent meandering the streets of Rome!

Overall we had a very pleasurable stay at the Hotel Lunetta and would thoroughly recommend it as a great place to stay if you're visiting Rome.

Amazing, helpful staff, great location, minutes away from monuments, great breakfast, clean rooms, what more could you ask for??! The staff here care about your stay and go above and beyond. The rooftop terrace is truly enchanting. Will recommend only the best restaurants fitted to your taste/style. I just cannot believe the people that say "the staff was sassy". Honestly after the first night they knew us by name. There was a couple that came in because they couldn't find their hotel the manager walked them to their hotel. They are even lovely to people that don't stay at the hotel!! After all my years of traveling I have never seen such exceptional service. 6 stars out of 5!!

I was just in Rome for a night and my family and I decided to stay at the Hotel Lunetta. Last year, I stayed at Hotel Nazionale which was fantastic, so this hotel had a lot to look up to. Personally, I enjoyed it. Most of the hotels in Rome are going to be small, due to the amount of space available in that small city. Hotel Lunetta was cozy and has been newly renovated so its atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The staff is also extremely kind. Breakfast was quite delicious as well, which comes with your stay. What I did not like about this hotel was the space. While in that hotel, I felt slightly cramped and very limited. I know that it is Rome, but the entire layout from the rooms to the lobby feels very smalll.

Room Tip: Ask the staff if they have any larger rooms available. My family had an executive room, but it was s...

We stayed here for four nights in june 2014 and loved the hotel, its staff, and its location. The staff are more than frendly and helpful This central located Hotel is a blessing for walking to all the attractions and the city transport. The suite was quite large by Rome standards, and very well-appointed, The bed and pillows were quality. The breakfast was excellent. The Lunetta is not inexpensive, but you get real value for money.

Room Tip: Get a suite well worth the upgrade

We are a family of 4 from Tennessee (sons ages 11 and 17). We stayed in the family suite... essentially 2 rooms with a shared step down landing (204/205) for 5 nights. (Remember that the lobby is on floor 0 -- Yes, there is an elevator!). One room with the larger bed -- they call it a double but the bed was definitely larger... at one point my younger son was reading on the bed and both my husband and I were resting and had enough space (and we aren't tiny people!). That did mean there wasn't a lot of floor space but it was well planned and maneuverable. There is a safe in the closet, a bureau, and bedside tables along with one chair. Because of the step down landing and the smaller size of the hotel, we were able to keep the boys things in our room and bring them what they needed in the morning without feeling like we were in the way of other guests as we traversed back and forth between the rooms. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Zero street noise despite being near a busy campo. We did not have a view but preferred the quiet.

Breakfast is excellent. The fruit is fresh and included a nice selection, not just apples and bananas... some mornings kiwi or pineapple, others, melon or pears. Pastries were fresh. Coffee with milk was very good. Bottled water was available as was yogurt, crackers, jam, nutella, and a selection of meats and cheeses if you wanted to go savory instead of sweet. On our first morning we had an early tour to Pompeii and the staff quickly packed us bags to take with us.

The hotel is definitely in walking distance of most things (assuming you are a walker). However, since we were going on tours very early most days, it was simpler to have the hotel call a taxi. Most locations were 10 to 15 minutes by taxi and about 10 euros (for the 4 of us, well worth it not to arrive tired for a day of walking). Remember that taxis cannot go in as direct a path as you can walking. There is a very good pastry shop right next door, several gelato places essentially around the corner, a walk up pizza place and a vegetarian sandwich shop also within a few steps of the door. Air conditioning worked great. Used the laundry service 1x -- clothes returned promptly and treated well (not cheap but sometimes necessary when things won't be dry if washed in the room).

The staff was universally friendly and helpful. Most spoke excellent English -- and even those that did not were eager to help. Sometimes as a tourist one can feel as though locals regard you as a necessary evil... that was not so at Hotel Lunetta. We felt like welcome guests.

The upstairs rooftop area is beautiful. We went on our last night (too tired from sight seeing all the other nights).

This was our first visit to Rome (and my first trip to Europe in 30 years) and so was heavily scheduled. We did not have time to enjoy the spa.

I booked the hotel because it seemed like the best of both worlds -- modern facilities but with a history. Here is the ultimate endorsement: if my 83 year old mother were traveling to Rome, I would trust her with the staff at the Hotel Lunetta.

Room Tip: Our rooms 204/205 were very quiet and comfortable.
