Cave Canem came highly recommended to us from a former local and we weren't disappointed. I got the Pizza Cave Canem which included basil, mozzarella and cherry tomatoes which was quite yummy. One of my daughters got the four cheese gnocchi and she practically licked the plate clean.

This is a very cosy place in Trastevere, which is suitable for both romantic dinners and evenings out with friends. plenty of locals, good food for a good price. Recommended!

I would rate it lower but the price was very good. Liked the poor man's restaurant idea with the paper table cloths. However, the only spice in the cupboard is not salt. I make a better caprese with ingredients from Tesco's. And the newly in season artichoke was so overcooked it was mush on the plate. Soft, yes! Babyfood? No! Sorry guys.

We went twice to Cave Canem - interspersed with a meal in a restaurant in Piazza del Fiori which was more than double the price and not as good! Fantastic pizzas, great veal and the interestingly named 'Beefsteak of Pig' was a delicious pork chop with vegetables and potatoes. The 'stuffed' potatoes are fab and although they had trouble understanding gin or vodka and tonic, we had a great time. Definitely worth searching out amongst the little Trastevere streets.

My wife loved her buffalo mozzarella.mixed veg and pomodoro pasta. They were willing to accommodate her veg needs and taste preferences and modified the order. I had the seafood pasta which was decent. Overall it is in a touristy Trestavere neighborhood. Prices are cheaper than many of the nearby restaurants. Service was reasonably speedy.

Negative: No wifi Available. They really should offer free Wi-Fi for patrons.
