What a wonderful hotel! The decor was typically Italian and I spent a lot of time looking at the many and varied artworks. The service by the staff was impeccable and everyone was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Breakfast, included in the tariff, was delicious. The location is excellent, in a very old part of Rome, within walking distance of many points of interest, including the river, Campo dei Fiore, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, etc. My room was quiet and well-serviced. The WiFi was quick and accessible from my room and a quiet bar area. I felt safe walking around the area alone at night. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and I would love to come back!

This is a B&B and definitely not a four star hotel by any acceptable standard. The location is great and the price reasonable. However while some rooms are lovely, some are really pokey. Don't take 313. I was there when there was no air conditioning (Italian budget hotels take advantage of the fact that they are only obliged to provide air conditioning from June) and I had the alternative of noise or baking ! The hotel was full the first night, but then they moved me the next day to a very nice room on the fourth floor. I recommend this hotel, but the specific room is key.

Room Tip: preferable to take one on the inside overlooking the courtyard and not on the street side.

We selected this hotel for a small school group due to the location, which proved to be better than we had hoped! We were steps from restaurants, markets, shops and gelato, quaint piazzas and coffee shops. From this hotel we were within a short walk (10 - 20 minutes) to many of Rome's sites, - the Vatican, Fountain of Trevi, Spanish steps, Capitoline Museum, the Trastevere, etc. The breakfast was delightful, the atmosphere cozy although a bit outdated. The rooms could use a bit of refreshing in the decor, but are decent size for Europe and many have a balcony. Everything was very clean, including the en suite bathrooms, which were definitely a plus! We had gelato every night , found a few great restaurans nearby and found some nice small shops in the adjacent piazzas. We very much enjoyed our stay. We will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a ground floor room - no elevator.

The hotel is quintessentially Italian. Sure, if you get over the strange statues, dried flowers and frilly netting around the place. You start to realize that most Italian hotels have this decor (albeit a bit more tasteful). The room we had (411) was very dark and noisy at night, but only whilst people were walking down the side street. The room is a good size for two people, but we wouldn't have wanted to relax in there for long, as very dark and basic. However, very clean but as previous reviewers have said, wear and tear showing. The location is fantastic, just one square over from campo di fiori and located just around from the river, you can walk to the Vatican in 20 mins. I would stay here again just for the great buffet breakfast and location. But if you are used to more luxury, try somewhere else. Recommend the campo Di fiori restaurant just up from the hotel on the left (side street leading to campo Di fiori square with fairy lights around).

Piazza Farnese is one of the most beautiful places in Rome - and therefore on this planet, given that Rome is the most beautiful city in the world :-) The hotel is perfectly located, in a quiet side road of Piazza Farnese, meaning that the baroque center of Rome is minutes away on foot. The hotel itself is nice, and our room was OK - but not great. A few little touches, a little freshening up (without changing its atmosphere) would improve it easily. This said, it was perfectly adequate, but not to deserve a full "5 stars". Service was impeccable, helpful, smiling, nothing more to wish for...

Positives - great location, very nice front desk staff, a nice size room and a large bathroom. Negatives - the room décor was very tired and lots of cracks in the wall paint. Our air conditioning wasn't working correctly at first, and the maintenance person seemed annoyed by my requests for repair, although in the end he did fix it, and we eventually got him to smile. Once working, the air conditioning was quite noisy. The hotel needs some renovation, at least based on our room. Perhaps the other rooms are nicer. My son commented that the place had a little bit of a feeling of an old age home, and I agree with his assessment. I would not stay here again.

The price for this hotel is probably normally not what we would usually pay for a smallish city centre hotel. We chose it because of its location which turned out to be perfect. All the main attractions were within 20-30 minutes walking distance through interesting cobbled streets and piazzas.During our 5 days here we had no need to use buses, taxes etc. Hotel staff most helpful providing us with a map and advising us on times etc for the attractions. We would definitely stay here again should we go to Rome.

We took the express bus from the international airport to the termini which cost 5 euros each we had not prebooked this and we were glad we didnt because many other people there who had booked buses found there bus stand difficult to locate and there are quite a few different companies offering this service that you can just get on and pay the driver 4,5,or 6 euros .

We have just come back from this trip and we found that if you go to the main attractions after 1.30pm we had no queues whatsoever but do not take this as read in the summer season.
hope this is of help to someone

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Residenza In Farnese stands between Piazza Farnese and Via Giulia in the heart of Rome. The building belonged in times past to the Teutonic Knights Military order of the Blessed Virgin. In the 18th century the palace became property of the Sinibaldi Family who restored the Fagade in its original style giving to more prestige and importance. Today this old monastery houses a cozy hotel of 31 rooms in their original layout and fitted with poor art furniture made in the northern Italian region of Veneto and antique furniture restored by skillful craftsmen who also enhanced the household furnishings and the finely decorated china and glassware. The splendid frescoes that embellish some rooms contribute to create an atmosphere of past times. The passion for art and restoration is accomplished by two ladies Marisella and Carla who run the Residenza in Farnese with particular care offer guests a warm and prestigious welcome. The professional hotel staff will do their best to satisfy all guests requirements with courtesy.
