A good location, easy to get to from Roma Termini by taxi. A healthy walk to most of the sites, but certainly doable.
The staff are very helpful. Wifi was available for a charge, although to be fair, I don't think they charged us for using it for a short time.
The rooms are dated, but acceptable. Bathroom small with some amenities overlapping the others!
Breakfast was fine.
Overall, this is probably a good hotel for downtown Rome, but on an international scale, less than what you'd expect for the money.

I've spent 3 marvelous nights in these hotel. Everything was more than OK. The personal was very gentle, the food excellent and the wiew was nice. I had a surprise when I arrived, and I found a lot of fruits in my room. I don't know if it was a mistake or a great surprise!!!

Room Tip: Try to smile, to be gentle, and you'll be served fantastic.

We chose hotel savoy for our wedding reception for 18 people 2 weeks ago and would recommend this venue to everyone!

Firstly, Diana who organised everything for us dealt with our queries, from initial email right through, with the utmost efficiency and professionalism. All emails were dealt within an hour or two- great when trying to organise a wedding abroad and certainly made things a lot easier. We had overpaid by €110 so were due a refund- but didn't have to mention this again as Diana had everything diligently recorded in our file and remembered on arrival.

The meal itself was fabulous, appetisers held on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views over rome, followed by a 5/6 course meal and wedding cake which was just beautiful. The staff catered for our vegetarian/ coeliac and child guests perfectly.

Aldo was the gentleman who looked after us on the day and despite a few last minute changes on our part, was extremely welcoming and patient. We were in great hands- the whole atmosphere was relaxed with no fuss!

Overall, we cannot thank the staff at the Savoy enough, especially Diana, for their professionalism, help and preparation for our meal. We couldn't have chosen a better location for our wedding dinner and look forward to returning again!

My husband and I have just returned from the Savoy. We had a 4 night stay.We were lucky enough to have had a free upgrade on our room and had room 502.When we arrived we were greeted warmly the room was not quite ready which was not an issue we did all the paper work our luggage was taken off us and stored and we were given directions to the roof terrace. We had afternoon tea there and admired the views from there.
Our room was soon ready and our bags were delivered up to us.The room was very spacious and clean huge comfy bed with extra pillows. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and so I requested one which was promptly delivered. All rooms have a safe in which is always reassuring been able to lock valuables away.
The maybe down side of the room was if anything no kettle or cups etc.we do love our cup of tea in the morning but this appears to be the norm in Rome.
We went to reception to ask for a map and get our bearings again the staff on front desk very helpful. The hotel is well situated for many of the places to see eg Spanish steps Trevi fountain etc. From the roof top terrace you can see the Vatican amazing at night when lite up.The hop on hop off bus stop is just outside the hotel if you do not want to walk but we walked everywhere and went on a real discovery around Rome and the beautiful side street
Breakfast is served in a very spacious room down stairs .We enjoyed a good selection of breakfast options eg cereal fresh fruit scrambled egg sausage bacon cheese ham etc
We did not eat in the hotel other than breakfast so cannot comment on the food served on the roof terrace but we did enjoy late night drinks up there most nights. All drinks come with a serving of crisps nuts and green olives which is a really nice touch. The staff even knew what we both were drinking after our first night up there which was nice they made us feel very welcome.
We had a very enjoyable stay there and would recommend it to friends and family but the biggest thing for us the fact that some how we managed to leave our camera there.By the time we got home we had an email informing us of this.I contacted the hotel and spoke to Fabrizio the manager and he arranged for the camera to be sent home .
We were very impressed by the service we have received from the Savoy hotel and the staff there .They are all very pleasant, helpful and obviously very honest We look forward to returning hopefully in the future

My wife and I stayed here for a b'day treat (3 nights) and despite having to move room twice (first time due to bad smells) and then due to being directly next to a noisy lift (do not choose any rooms ending in 19 !) we had a lovely room with double aspect - I even received a bottle of Prosecco as a b'day treat form the manager which we enjoyed on the roof terrace we found the hotel to OK - good.
To be honest most hotels in Italy as pretty similar - high ceilings, marble floors and average plumbing and bathroom and this hotel is no exception however there is a little bit they could do to make a difference - the night staff are unhelpful and grumpy, the entrance is unwelcoming and the breakfast room is sadly depressing (btw with a wonderful roof terrace and restaurant WHY dont they use this ?) the breakfast is OK but could have been better (Chicken sausages?? and stodgy scrambled egg) and 9 euors for wifi !
There are some good parts - the roof terrace is wonderful and the staff up there sooo helpful - the place is in a great location with local restaurants and close enough to enjoy Rome on foot but far enough away to get away form the hustle and bustle.
So in all a little bit of thinking and TLC could go a long way !

Room Tip: NOT anything with a 19 at the end and try and get a double aspect high up - we loved 409

I've just come back from a 3 night stay in Rome and the Savoy, I have nothing but high praise for this hotel. We all had a fantastic stay, I went with my sister and friend and they accommodated us for all staying in the same room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and spacious for 3 women getting ready with flat screen TV, fridge, security box and nice powerful shower. You couldn't ask for anything more from the room as it's certainly not a city to be spending a lot of time in your room for! Breakfast was great, nice coffee, fresh juices, fruit, hot eggs, bacon etc and cereal. Everything you'd need for breakfast. Outstanding plus for us was the rooftop bar, amazing views of Rome and you can see the Vatican which at night is stunning. It's an excellent location with only a 10/15 minute walk to the Spanish steps, they also have taxis waiting for you outside. My only minor criticism is they charge for using wifi, but it's a very minor point. I would highly recommend this hotel in one of the most amazing cities in the world.

Dear Guest,

thank you for taking the time to post your comments here on Tripadvisor!

I regret that our provider of internet connection made our guests pay for the WIFI, fortunately now we get a free wi-fi connection all areas.

I hope to have you as a guest a very near future and once again apologize for the inconvenient charge you had from Swisscom.

Kindest regards

The hotel was spotlessly clean with a grand atmosphere, and staff were friendly, polite and helpful. There is a lovely rooftop bar and good breakfasts are served in a smart basement area. Great location for walking round Rome. We would definitely stay again if we return to Rome.

Room Tip: We were on the fifth floor, facing the front. I don't know about other rooms, but ours was fine.
