“A delightful Hotel”
Reviewed 8 April 2010

We stayed here for a long weekend, this hotel was lovely very friendly staff very clean and comfortable rooms. Our room was at the front of the hotel so was noisy but at night with the shutters closed it wasn't to bad. We walked into the main centre of Rome daily 20-30mins but you can get the free shuttle bus. We ate at the Baby resturant very expensive, a lovely meal and very good service but I would say overpriced.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of March, and we had a perfect stay. This was mainly due to this hotel being AWAY from the main center. We like to do our sight seeing during the day and then relax in peaceful surroundings in the late afternoon, before going out in the evening for some dinner and fun! If you need to be able to pop in and out of the hotel during the day while shopping etc, this may not be ideal hotel for you. These is a large park/garden separating the hotel to the main tourist areas/shopping district - you need to book the free shuttle service to and from the Spanish Steps (takes 5-8 mins) everyday or catch a taxi (about 10 Euros). If you are organized and your day is planned, then this is not a problem. Getting to all the major attractions is quite easy from the Spanish Steps - two or three stops on the Metro (there is a Metro stop next to the Spanish Steps) to Vatican City, and Colloseum (see the Bascillia on the way from Termini Station)...Trevi and all the shopping streets, well known squares and places to eat ice-cream etc are all within walking distance (the best way to see Rome!).

The hotel itself is beautifully presented (clean, turn-down service etc), breakfast is a delight and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. We did not try the in-house restaurant 'Baby' as there were many restaurants in the city! The only small point is the rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy if you are not used to it, as the trams and cars can be heard through the shutters and windows.

But apart from that, a relaxing, enjoyable base to use as our holiday to Rome. Would recommend if you like to sight see by foot, are a bit flexible with location and want something a little different from other high end chain hotels.

What can I say about a hotel that was rated the second best hotel in the world by Travel and Leisure. It's only drawback is the distance to a metro stop. The hotel offered a free shuttle to the nearest stop about five minutes away.

The hotel's restaurant, "Baby," was ranked the best restaurant in Rome. The waiting list was so long, we couldn't get in.

We enjoyed a two night break (primarily to watch the rugby!) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was delightful and the staff couldn't really do enough for us. My wife wasn't well during our stay so we had room service for breakfast - superb. The "Grill" restaurant does need to improve it's menu - the hotel suffers from having a top of the range restaurant (very dear) and the "Grill" restaurant which only really serves basic snacks. The hotel could do with a mid-range restaurant serving pasta, steak etc to be a complete package. The walk through the park to the Spanish Steps is lovely (though not advised at night) - taxi's to and from are not too dear however. We enjoyed being a little way from the hustle of the city centre. Overall a really beautiful hotel - recommended.

I stated here recently for 2 nights for a weekend break in Rome with my wife.

The Hotel is quite lovely inside and the suite we had was spacious, luxurious and everything you would want from a 5 star hotel. Staff were efficient but lacked any kind of friendliness, which you sometime get in upmarket hotels.

The hotel is located on the far side of the Borghese gardens from the main centre of Rome i.e. the Corso, Spanish steps etc and is therefore a 25 minute walk through parkland to the crowds and site seeing areas. The walk is quite pleasant through the park but we were recommended not to do it at night. The hotel has a shuttle bus service but we didn't use this so I can't comment on it.

The only questionable element to the hotel are the dining facilities. They have 2 options, the first is a Michelin star restaurant called "Baby", which looked very nice but only had a set menu when we were there that was 180 Euros per person. The other option was something called the "Grill" but it did not in fact grill anything other than sandwiches, in other words it was a fancy snack bar. Cost is a relative thing but 180 Euros per person is too pricey for us, so got a taxi into town but it might be acceptable to others, so make your own mind up.

Overall a really nice place, would I return, probably not just due to the hassle of having to get taxis everywhere after dark.

I could not speakly more highly of this hotel. The Aldrovandi Palace is 5 star in every respect, offering its guests luxuriously appointed rooms and a level of service that is of the highest calibre. I have rarely encountered such accomodating and friendly staff, from the ever helpful concierge ,to the driver of the complimentary shuttle bus to the housekeeping staff. The breakfast waiting staff also deserve special mention.
Should I ever return to Rome the Aldrovandi Palace shall undoubtedly be my hotel of choice.
A sincere thank you to all the staff who made our stay such a pleasurable one.

Very nice property but a bit out of the way. In a swanky residential neighborhood North of the tourist center. Just around the corner from the Museum of Modern Art. There is a streetcar in front but hotel staff were unable to provide any info on public transit. They cater to the limo set. We enjoyed the +- 3/4 mile walk through the Borghese gardens from the Piazza del Popolo, some people wouldn't. Very hot, 95 F, when we visited, so the pool was a wonderful refresher though crowded. Indoor public space was limited, but we spent little time in the hotel. Service was great, room was great, price was very high, I remember a water and a lemon soda by the pool being 19 euro! The breakfast, included with our room but otherwise 37 euro each, was a real stand-out. Perhaps the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. Partly seemed overpriced to us because of the weak dollar, which is hardly their issue. Didn't try the starred restaraunt on premises. The menu looked great but there are so many other delicious options in Rome that we just couldn't justify the prices.
