“Clean Hotel, Great Location”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

My .wife and I spent 8 nights at the Mecenate Palace and found it an ideal location for visiting Rome. While not spacious, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. We're glad we asked for a room on a higher floor (5th) because we slept with the windows open (no ac this time of year) and the lower floors would have been noisy. The hotel is walking distance to most attractions. The staff speaks English and is very helpful

Couldn't fault hotel. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Buffet breakfast very good and the roof restaurant was a very pleasant way to start the day. Hotel very good location for most of the tourist attractions. Hotel bar was bit expensive but plenty of reasonable bars in location.

Room Tip: Rooms in hotel annex very good

We ended up in Rome unexpectedly and needed a hotel room at the last minute. We searched for a place that would not break the budget and was within a short walk of the train station. We are very happy we found such a wonderful hotel on short notice.

The lobby is beautiful and the front desk staff very helpful. After hearing about our unexpected travel snafu, the front desk offered us an upgrade to a two-bedroom apartment in an adjoining building.

Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We had a lovely bathroom with a full tub and shower and a lovely living room area. We were only there for one night, but we couldn't have asked for anything better.

We enjoyed walking the streets of Rome and enjoyed the sights. We would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Mecenate Palace for five nights on our honeymoon. The hotel is old Italian charm, not only the fixtures and furnishings but the people too. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, this made for a wonderful trip.

Stayed here on a two day layover on the way home. Booked the room ahead of time primarily for the location to the Termini.

Was treated well upon arrival and throughout our stay. Was given a 6th floor room with a NW window facing The Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. (Gorgeous at night.) Rooftop bar offers wonderful views, good service, expensive prices. Would stay again if in town.

I have just returned from Rome after organising an all male group visit of 24 people to watch the Italy v England 6 Nations Rugby Match. I have visited Rome on three previous visits with my wife and on each occasion stayed at The Mecenate Palace Hotel. Very few of the group had visited the capital previously but all were very impressed with the city and enjoyed a weekend of glorious weather with an emphatic victory by the England Rugby team.
The hotel helped to set the scene for the stay as all the staff were most helpful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was situated on the rooftop with spectacular city views and served a large buffet breakfast. The bedrooms were large and also contained bathrooms with marble bathrooms with dressing gowns and slippers provided. Bedding was changed on a daily basis and cleaned to a very high standard. The location of the hotel was superb with views overlooking the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. The main Termini bus and railway station was a 5 min walk away and local buses stopped close to the hotel. The hop on hop off bus stopped at the side of the Basilica. The metro station was approximately 150 yards from the hotel entrance.
The Colosseum and the Forum were no more than a 20 min walk away and most of the
sightseeing attractions were also within walking distance although The Vatican was quite a bit out but could be easily visited via the metro or bus. There were plenty of places to eat and several local hostelries were available in the hotel vicinity. I would most certainly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Rome for the location, price, facilities and the friendly and efficient staff.

Room Tip: Bedrooms overlooking The Basilica Santa Maggiore offer splendid views.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on a recent visit to watch the rugby between Italy and England. The accommodation was excellent and very clean, all of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The rooftop restaurant is a lovely place to have your meals and the continental breakfast was more than adequate.
The hotel is located in a central position to visit all of Rome's delights and the reception staff were very helpful in providing information and directions when needed. If we return to Rome I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
