“Average Hotel - Poor Restaurant - Would not Recommend”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

I recently stayed at this hotel for four nights. Although centrally located this is a very average hotel, the décor is in need of updating as lots of scuff marks and chipped paint. The breakfast was very good and you could help yourself to as much as you liked. However, the evening meal in the restaurant was very limited and the same every night also expensive for what you got, which probably explains why there were only two or three couples eating in the evening. If the menu was more varied I think they would have more custom.

Watch out if you use the room telephone, I made two local calls which lasted 20 seconds each as I was cut off each time but when I checked out I was charged 25 euros which they said was for taxes. This seems to be a rip off as I didn't even get to speak to anyone.

On the plus side the view from the terrace bar is fantastic day or night.

Extremely convenient location. You can walk from the train station to this hotel, even if you're pulling wheeled luggage. Nice rooms, very large bathrooms. Robes and slippers in the closet. Good breakfast on the roof with a nice view, and the hotel looks out at a famous church. Walking distance to the Colosseum and Forum.

i. Good choice – highly centrally located – closer (walking distance) to several destinations and Roma Termini
ii. The first day – they gave us a suite in the adjacent sister building – that had just three apartments – very lonely – had 35 steps to climb (no lift) and three locks to open at various doors – while the suite was fine – the location was just too lonely and difficult to approach.
iii. We requested for a change in the main building – which they could honour only the next day
iv. Room was small but comfortable
v. Breakfast bare minimum
vi. Service and reception very good
vii. Wi-fi good quality

Room Tip: Do not accept apartments (though they are bigger) in the adjacent building - insist on main building

We had dinner in The Restaurant and it was delicious,The view from The terrace is Fantastic.
The hotel is just a few blocks away from The Termini train station .
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel between the 23rd and 27th April. We had a double room on the 5th floor and it was perfect for us. Authentically decorated, everything we needed included his and hers basins! All rooms are said to be soundproof and this was certainly the case for the first two nights. However, on the Saturday night there was a private function on the roof terrace and we could hear heels clicking until quite late. Having said that it wasn't all hours but you wouldn't get this on lower floors.
The roof bar is lovely if a little pricey; cranberry juice was €5 and a vodka and ginger ale €15 !! Breakfast was very good with a wide buffet choice which is served in the conservatory on the roof with good views. We didn't eat an evening meal in the hotel as we were elsewhere every night but the menu looked good.
Staff were very polite and very helpful; couldn't fault them.
The ONLY slight drawback was the hotels location which is to the East of the city, a relatively short distance from the train station. Just about everything we wanted to visit was West of us hence a return trip might warrant looking for a slightly better placed hotel. This however, is really the only drawback and that was ultimately our choice!
A great hotel, highly recommend.

Room Tip: 5th floor whilst good, leaves you at the mercy of possible noise on the roof terrace

We stayed in 2 rooms with our 3 children. Nice location, beautiful rooftop views of St. Maria Maggie Cathedral. Breakfast was nice. Staff was friendly but not the most helpful. our stay was back in July of 2009

Once again, we have only kudos for this lovely property. We spent Easter there, and thoroughly enjoyed the festive dinner on the rooftop terrace. The food was traditional Italian Easter fare, beautifully presented and tasty as could be.

We have stayed here many times, and feel that the welcoming employees, charming rooms, the convenient location, and the great food make it an unbeatable and incomparable place to stay while in Rome.

Room Tip: On a first trip to Rome, it is worth getting a room with a view of the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica...
