“Not a good location”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

This might be an ideal hotel for the businessperson but its not ideal for the tourist.
We were disappointed to find no tea/coffee making facilities in the room nor could reception provide me with a kettle - had to order hot water from room service. Breakfast was ok (restaurant staff were excellent). The main problem with the hotel is its location in a quiet residential area with no nearby restaurants or shops and its distance from the main tourist attractions. There is a free shuttle (6 persons) into the city centre - this has to be booked in advance and due to something getting lost in translation we were left waiting over an hour and a half for a ride back to the hotel. I wish I had paid a little more for a hotel more centrally located.

Hotel comfortable and staff very welcoming and helpful. We were on a city break and they were very very helpful. We did make mention of specific staff in our feedback form but unfortunately I've lost most of the names. They really were good though so well done. I can remember one particular driver of the shuttle bus, which is a great service by the way. Luigi you are a legend.
The shuttle bus runs every half hour between 7ish and 11ish I think. They should perhaps make more of a mention of this as the spot it drops you off at in town could easily be reached from the train station on the underground. Would save many visitors a €60+ taxi ride.
The hotel is a little out of the centre but the shuttle means this really isn't a problem. It's in a nice neighboorhood too with good local bars and shops.
Bar is a little overpriced and lacking in atmosphere which I always find annoying about hotels. You make a good enough mark up on alcohol so why take the proverbial??
BUT, that is the only mark against the hotel and every big hotel is guilty of it.

A really comfortable hotel with excellent and friendly service, and a great breakfast buffet. They dealt superbly with a problem when we arrived and could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable and memorable (including an upgrade to a suite). Although it is some way from the center of the city, the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle bus to the Piazza del Popolo from where you can connect with the Metro so its location is not really a problem. Overall, an excellent stay.

I went to Rome as a late valentines trip away with my boyfriend we had a lovely time! However the staff at this hotel really ruined it for me and I'm still really upset about it.
We arrived late in the afternoon and asked if there was anywhere to eat and A gentleman said "no restaurant closed" I then saw a lady with a toasted sandwich sitting in the Loby. So I asked again "is the anywhere we could get a snack?" And he replied "only sandwich or toasted sandwich" and he started to walk away, as he was walking I asked "where from!?" And he said "over there!" And made a hand gesture as if to shoe me away! I asked if there was restaurants close by and another gentleman said "I don't know, take a walk and see" We felt lost our entire stay! No one told us when breakfast was served or where to go! And the same with dinner! When we did go to dinner the service was beyond slow! We ordered vegetables and they never came! We had to ask for menus both food and drink! Had to ask for our water twice! We were in the restaurant 3 hours and only had 2 courses. The pool lounge bar that's supposed to open to all guests was closed for us because of conferences, I tried to go in once and a man pushed in front and pulled the curtains across so rudely! Overall we tried not to let it ruin our stay, because the room was clean and we tried not to spent too much time there, but if you're looking for a homely friendly place to stay, try the River palace! We stayed there for one night as there was a problem with our room! The staff are superb! And the bar is beautiful and cosy!

Just returned from 3 nights at this hotel. We found the staff very helpful and friendly without being over the top. Our room was large nicely furnished and very clean. The public areas were also spotless. We had breakfast every day where there was an excellent choice. Some people may find that being out of the main city by 10 mins a disadvantage. We found this to be an advantage as it gave us time out when we needed it, The shuttle bus service worked well. If it doesn't fit in with your timings the public transport system works well to the hotel with a short walk from the hotel to the station/metro. Thank you Hotel Duke for a comfortable stay..

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was comfortable, luxurious and tranquil.

Pros: It is slightly far away from the city centre, however this didn't feel like an inconvenience as it has a complimentary shuttle to Piazza del Poppolo (which has a metro station) and actually it's distance from the city centre means that it is in a more peaceful area. The breakfast is great, the rooms are large and luxurious, the staff are very helpful and the area is nice and quiet.

Cons: The Wifi is a bit of a pain, you have to log in every time you turn on your phone/device but this isn't such a problem in the grand scheme of things. And the shuttle, you have to book it, it doesn't run automatically so you have to let the hotel know when you will be using it. This isn't an issue when travelling from the hotel to town but it is annoying the other way round, we didn't know exactly what time we would want to return each day so we would have to call the hotel (paying for overseas calls)

Overall it was a really pleasant experience and we would recommend it highly.

We loved our Superior room and breakfast buffet was great. The hotel shuttle was useful and reliable but remember to book in advance to avoid hanging around and disappointment.
The English Afternoon tea is just that ...a cup of tea NOT Afternoon Tea with sandwiches, etc so don't get excited!
The wifi was a pain in the butt it kept dropping out and certainly didnt last for more than 24 hours you need to register every device and do it every day. Funnily enough we found wifi across Rome dodgy and most places did not offer it so don't get wound up by it. There is no bar to speak of but a nice lounge if you want to sit around.
Reception were very helpful on the whole.

Room Tip: Go for a Superior Room
