We stayed at the Hotel Diplomatic for 4 nights in April. The staff was exceptionally helpful and very pleasant. This was our first time in Rome and the location was as good as any. We were only a 10 minute walk from the Vatican

excellent location. Within 15 to 20 minutes of everything. Stayed here for 3 nights in april. This hotel seems to get very mixed reviews but i can seriously say it is good value for money. Slightly smelly corridors but it is a very old building. The bed is very hard but it suited me. Breakfast was basic continental but for the price we paid was more than i expected. Staff were great and very helpful. We had a room at the back, 407 so no traffic noise. Slept like a log mainly due to overdoing all the sites. No problem with language. Yes the lift is small but holds three people with luggage. Again for the location, it was nice to stay away from the busy streets of the main drag especially at night. There was a coffee house just at the bridge that was absolutely lovely. Commplimentary snacks with just a coffee! Don't get that here.

We booked the SIT bus from Fumiancio Airport for 5 euros which dropped us 5 minutes away from the hotel. We were really impressed with the location of the hotel so central to everything. The staff were really helpful ,the hotel room very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. We had such a lovely time We will definitely return to Rome and most certainly we will stay in the Diplomatic we can't praise it enough. Thanks

Room Tip: We booked a superior double which was a good size

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful traditional hotel. It is in a great position for site seeing. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. There only thing that would have made our stay better would have been to have tea and coffee making facilities. I would definitely stay here again if I go back to Rome

We stayed in the diplomatic for 4 nights and must say it was very good. Firstly the room was a good size and the bathroom comfortable. The pillows were not to my taste as they were a little hard but that is just me.
Breakfast was good, fresh coffee, cheese, ham, pastries and cereal all on offer. An excellent start to the day!
The staff were very friendly and answered any questions we had.
The hotel is near all major sites, the furthest would be the colosseum but that was still only a 30 min walk! We enjoyed strolling from the hotel to the sites and always felt safe.

Overall I would stay here again and recommend to anyone whom was looking for some reasonably priced accommodation in Rome! Excellent!!

Great location hotel - we walked to all the sights but you can also get a bus to the colosseum from the front of the hotel if you don't fancy the 30 min walk. The hotel is just out of the hustle and bustle so is a quiet(ish) retreat whilst still being central.

Room was spotless, beds a little hard but we like that. Bathroom had a shower and bath (great to soak those tired feet and legs!) and was also spotless. Plenty of powerful hot water.

Mini bar was handy, prices ok and good to have a fridge in the room.

Room was nice and warm but also good to open the window for fresh air, our room was at the back so nice and quiet.

Breakfast was a little basic, nice yoghurts, bread and basic (tinned?) fruit. Would have been better if there was some fresh fruit, but it was adequate for a few nights.

Staff were friendly and helpful- we asked them about the buses and also locked our key in our room once (sorry!). Each time they were helpful.

Tips:

If you are flying from the Fiumicino airport get the sit shuttle bus. This is €11 return and stops at the piazza Cavour literally a 5min walk from the hotel. Just look at the map before you get there and follow the signs at the airport for the bus terminal.

Also, try eating at la francescana just around the corner from the hotel near the piazza. Great local home cooked food at a good price. The restaurant next door (splendour) was good too.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel. Good price for a good located hotel.

Well spent for every penny with this kind of excellent services. the staff is very attentive. it's a bit pricey but wel worth the cost. breakfast is very good and included in the cost of the stay.
