Excellent location, all the central Rome sites are within easy walking distance. Very good location for shopping too. Friendly staff, large and comfortable room and good breakfast.

The base price of this hotel was more expensive than our price point of 200 Euros, but we found a great discount (20%) by paying in advance. Anyway, the hotel is lovely. It has a nice (fancy) public room and a charming breakfast room. The front desk folks were very helpful (and we were clearly tourists of no importance). The room was spotless and the bed was as comfortable as my bed at home. The bathroom was large and well-appointed with full-size hair dryer and rain water shower. We had a room on the back, so it was very quiet. We had a partial view of St. Peter's in the distance (partial because an intervening building blocked about half of it but it was lovely nonetheless). We were just across a plaza, one block down, and across another plaza from D'Oro Tazio (approximate name), my new favorite latte place in the world. We could walk to everything (Vatican and Trastevere are a little far but the ancient Rome sites, Piazza Navona, Campo Fiori, and the Trevi fountain are just short strolls away. (The hotel is on the square that houses the parliament building (designed by Bernini), so there were demonstrations going on and I'll bet that during the week the front rooms can get some noise.)

The breakfast was very good. Several kinds of bread and rolls, hams, and sweet breads )pastries), some fresh fruit, cereal, yogart, and eggs you could soft boil for yourself. They have a self-serve cappachino machine (ugh) but they will make you one that is okay from another machine. (But do yourself a favor and stop each morning for a 1.10 euro tiny but heavenly cappachino at D'Oro.)

If you want a place that is higher end than the moderate hotels, but not quite luxurious, I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: A room in the back on a higher floor is best for quiet and view. However, some of the rooms on the...

Departing Belfast International on Wednesday afternoon and arriving in Rome less than 3 hours later. The hotel Nazionale is situated in the Plazza Montecitorio, an ideal location for everything. 10 Mins from Trevi Fountain 20 mins from Spanish Steps and 5 minutes from pick up & drop off point for all city tour buses.....and very very quiet.
We were there as Prime Minister Berlisconi was being retired and the hotel shared the square with the Parliamentary HO which as can be imagined was a hive of activity all a BIG PLUS.
The weather the whole time was fantastic - 70oF and sunny. Light trousers and T shirts the order of the day. A bit cooler however through the city streets with high buildings blocking off the sunlight.
Went to Rome expecting great things and definately not disappointed. All tourist attractions lived up to our imaginations. The modern development of Rome has not impinged on the historic sites.
Great restaurant/cafe near to hotel - La Scaletta in Via della Maddalena. Super atmosphere, great waiting staff and able to have a bit of fun. Returned there having sampled a less than memorable eaterie the name best forgotten.
Romans very pleasant people.
We did not encounter any bars or night clubs, but the street side cafes were fantastic. The city was vibrant and not just with tourists.
Rome is a very expensive city. Beautiful Greco White wine - €22. Bottle of beer - €10. Meal for two including wine and 4 x alcholic drinks no desert - €110.
Disturbing to see so many street beggers, especially around Vatican area.
In conclusion glad to have made the trip, a fantastic city with plenty to see and walking is recommended, although we did take advantage of site seeing bus, only because we did not realise how close everything was to our hotel.
Tip do not be conned by "tour guides" at tourist sites offering queue jumping for €13 is a take on.The time of year we visited there was little queuing to be done.
Finally Rome airport departing arrangements the worst I have experienced after LA.

Room Tip: If possible request twin plus sitting facility. Our booking options did not allow this choice but on...

We stayed at the Hotel Nazionale last week during a short stay in Rome. Upon arrival to our room, my wife took a shower to discover the removable shower head wouldn't stay in place making it difficult to shower. Upon check-in we had also forgotten to request a view of the Piazza. So, when my wife got out of the shower she called the front desk, explained the shower issue. Before she could ask to change rooms they told us they would send someone up in 2 minutes to move our things to a room that would meet our satisfaction. My wife then asked if we could have a view of the piazza. About two minutes later, someone came upstairs, helped us with our bags and moved us to room 215. Not only was the room and the view of the piazza fantastic, the customer service was superior from everyone on their staff. We stayed during the whole parliament/Berlusconi fiasco and because the parliament building is in the same piazza there were hundreds of people hanging around including dozens of news crews from around the world. Many of these TV crews and personalities were staying in the hotel and it was sold out. With all of the commotion, the staff was pleasant, extremely helpful and helped us have a lovely stay. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 215 is excellent - it faces the piazza and is on the end...perfect location.

We recently had a weekend at the Nazionale. Great location, great room, excellent and helpful staff. Thankyou, Nazionale.

Room Tip: lower floors are more noisy, especially at the back.

Can walk to almost all sites of interest from this hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Very quiet location in parliament square. Could not fault this hotel and would stay here again for sure.

This hotel is just right if you are looking to stay near some of the more reknowned sights of Rome. We wanted to be near to the Rotunda, and were just a two to three minute walk away. We were also able mid afternoon to comfortably saunter to the Vatican by way of the river, and in a large loop and back to the hotel in time for aperitifs at six! The hotel is very near to excellent shops and restaurants, but make sure you head south (and not west as we were advised by staff), to find the nearest bite to eat that isn't an ice cream or a gourmet meal.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Our bedroom, although having slightly dated decor, was clean and spacious with high cielings and long curtains adding to the ambience, and the bathroom large, clean and beautifully tiled: a nice touch were the damask hand towels. The bed was king size and comfortable. Our few niggles were that no coffee or tea facilities were included in the room, the corridor carpets on the second floor where we stayed needed a deep clean, and the breakfast buffet was confusing in terms of how it was laid out. All fairly minor when the overall impression and value for money was very good. Although the hotel seems fairly austere, we would recommend it. We travelled to and from Termini station by taxi, about ten to 15 minutes and 10 to 15 Euros depending on the driver!
