“Nice Hotel in good location.”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

Spent 3 nights there in room 301 last weekend, and we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very quiet and was situated away from the street.Overheard some guests at breakfast that complayned over terrible noise from the traffic ,with rooms fronting the street outside. But consider you are in the centre of a huge city, maybe you cannot expect silence? However our room was quiet, small but well kept and very clean. The hotel staff was very service minded, and pleasant to talk to. The best thing about this hotel is the roof terrace where they serve a quite good breakfast. We were not lacking anything really. And to start the day looking out on a beautiful view over Rome was lovely. The next best thing with the hotel is its location, very close to the beautiful Fontana de Trevi-fontain. Its walking distance to all the important tourists "Must see". There is plenty of restaurants in the area. We can recommend Thats Amore. There is two with similar name,so be sure to choose the one on the right side (coming from hotel) Another good one, regarding the food (not so cosy) was Trattoria Romana. Several restaurants in the area has a very un cosy bright light in restaurant. We wonder why? Anyhow,we enjoyed every minute of our Rome trip, and will certainly return someday.

Room Tip: 301 is very quiet at night, facing the backyard.

This is one of those hotels where luck plays a part. The rooms at the front are spacious and very well appointed, and the rooms at the back, whilst well appointed are like the smallest box room. The only advantage of the rooms at the back is the peace and quiet. The best part of the hotel is the breakfast room, the room, not the breakfast. The cooked elements were inedible and they tried to charge me extra for fried eggs - though in fairness, they withdrew this charge after my comments.
The location is excellent, lots to see and do around the hotel, and lots of good pizzerias and trattoria, but we won't stay here on our next visit.

Dear Guest,

We regret to learn that you were disappointed about your stay in our hotel and, overall, that you didn’t enjoy our breakfast service.

We pay attention to all the suggestions to improve our breakfast buffet, because we know the great value of starting a day in the best way possible.

Following your review, we are going to investigate on this matter in order to work out the issue.

Either way, we hope that you will be so kind to grant us a new chance to show you how your stay can be so pleasant in our property.

Kind Regards

My husband and I have just returned from our first trip to Rome which coincided with our wedding anniversary, we wanted somewhere close to the main attractions that was comfortable, clean and welcoming. We got all of the above.

Having read a lot of good reviews on here we knew we wouldn't be disappointed but we did want a room with a view and so emailed ahead asking if it was possible, on arrival we were shown to a delightful room on the 5th floor with a fabulous view of the city. There is some street noise which is to be expected in a capital city, but it adds to the ambience of the hotel.

The room was warm, clean and comfortable and perfect for our long weekend, we didn't spend much time unpacking and set off to see the sights, everywhere is within walking distance (even the Vatican and Colosseum if you don't mind walking half an hour or so) and it was great to just go out wandering the streets and seeing where we ended up.

After a long day of walking we were happy to take advantage of the mini bar for a short rest before heading out to local eateries, some hard to find very unassuming restaurants within a short distance of the hotel, definitely worth visiting.

Breakfast was a vast array of delicious Italian fare, with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, pastries, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee and juice, there's more than enough for every appetite. Definitely try the chocolate pastries, they are worth the trip to Rome itself.

One tip for first timers to Rome, if you have a Smartphone, download the Tripadvisor City Guide, we couldn't have done the things we've done or the things we've seen without it, a must for getting about and getting quick access to restaurant reviews.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Rome and will definitely go back to the Barberini when we return, we couldn't risk going anywhere else!

Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Room Tip: Request a room on the higher floor at the front for a view.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and although we spent more of our trip exploring the wonderful city of Rome, the hotel itself it's very good and we would stay again.

The rooms are clean, spacious and the alcohol in the mini bar is a lot cheaper than anywhere near by. The hotel staff are pleasant, helpful and were able to sort out a private transfer to the airport which cost €53.

The breakfast selection is ample with fresh croissants and pastries every morning. The real highlight from breakfast however, is the views of the city.

The trevi fountain and Spanish steps are closely located to the hotel, no more than five minutes walk to each. It is also a pleasant walk from the hotel to the Vatican and the colosseum so don't feel the need to use buses or taxis to get there.

There are some nice restaurants close to the hotel, especially near the Trevi fountain, and I would advise booking a table to avoid disappointment as it is extremely busy on a night round there. The food itself is not that expensive but alcohol is highly priced. Its €15 euros for a small glass of wine and €13 for a pint of Guinness in some of the places.

There's a nice cocktail bar just down the road from the hotel, no more than a minutes walk, and for nine euros they are generous with the measures.

Would stay there again if we ventured back to Rome.

We had five great days and nights in Rome at Hotel Barberini. Perfect location for exploring all of Rome's great sites. Walkable to all. Hotel is very Roman old world charm. Our junior suite was a little tight for two parents and two college aged children but it was fine. Very comfortable beds and linens. European bathroom. Nice amenities. Breakfast buffet (included in our rate) was excellent and served in a room with an incredible view. Otherwise it does not have a real restaurant or bar but so what, get out of your room and explore Rome! Staff is very helpful. They provided us a generous "bag" breakfast when we had to leave early our day of departure. Only complaint was weak wifi in our room but they corrected it after the weekend. Would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the front can be noisy if you open the windows. But it's Rome. We weren't an...

We had previously stayed locally for the first 4 days at a luxury hotel. We chose this as our second venue and were very pleased. An upgrade on the day we checked in for our 2 night stay was the best present ever. The room was just above the entry and had a grey view. Slightly busy and a tad noisy if you leave the windows open, but where in Rome isn't. With the windows shut, the A/C worked perfectly. Close to everything, food, shops, transport and the usual tourist venue's . Great cheap and tasty takeaway Pizza down the road for a dinner "in your room" option.
Breakfast was also very nice on the upper courtyard each morning.
Make sure you visit the Barberini Gallery across the road. A must.
We would come back.....even if we don't score an upgrade.
