“Couldn't be better!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

The Barberini Hotel experience was great. It is classically decorated and very clean. Service at the front desk was very helpful and professional. Location is in the center of Rome, near Barberini Square and easily accessible to all major Rome points of interest. We would definitely come back!

Good location with many venues within walking distance. Room was quite small, but with an elegant decor. The rooftop breakfast every morning with a beautiful view of the city, was just the best way to begin the day. Courteous staffing and lovely breakfast selections. Room and hotel very clean.

Room Tip: Inquire about room size and windows; ours was small with no window.

We stayed for 5 nights, and really liked this hotel. When choosing it I was looking for hotels with a hairdryer (only took hand luggage) and breakfast, the wellness spa bit was an added bonus.
We didn't use the spa-I did try and go in just to use the spa bath but was turned away and told I had to pay extra so never bothered.
The breakfast was served 7am-11am and was above average and set you up nicely for the day-scrambled egg, bacon, frankfurter sausages, bread rolls, croissants and pastries, cake, cheese, ham and salami, hard boiled egg, jam, cereals, yoghurts, 4 types of fruit juice and water plus your choice of tea or coffee.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. All located on the sixth floor with a good view of the city.
The location is good, easy to find and within a couple of minutes of a really decent ice cream/snack bar and restaurant/jazz cafe-at Piazza Barberini itself. We took the train and metro to the hotel from the airport and then it was about a 2 minute walk to the hotel.
The room size was absolutely fine and the shower was outstanding-good pressure and heat. The minibar was one of the cheapest I have ever experienced (you'll see what I mean when you buy your first drink in Rome)
I have read reviews on this hotel saying the towels were thin and the bed hard, but that was not our experience. There is also a free safe in the room. I have also read reviews about a lack of plug sockets, we found 2 in the room, until we found the other three behind the heavy curtains! Wifi is ok, a little patchy sometimes. The air con worked well and was well used.
The hotel was in a good location for walking and shopping-we walked everywhere except the Vatican which was a few stops away (5 i think?) on the metro. It was 10 mins to the Spanish Steps, 15ish mins to the Trevi Fountain and about 30 mins to the Colisseum. We would definitely return. But maybe would take a travel kettle...

Stayed here for 3 nights while sightseeing in Rome. The hotel is completely on par with my other, very pleasant, Italian hotel experiences. The rooms are very nice (small yes, but very well appointed, think of a nicely decorated ship cabin) and are plenty comfortable for the few hours you'll spend in them; you're in Rome remember? You can take the subway, which is a short walk away, to the major sights: Vatican, Roman Forum and Colosseum, etc., but you can also walk. It took us no more than 20 minutes to the Colosseum, less than 10 to the Pantheon, and it is a hike to the Vatican, but there is tons to see and if you prefer you can do it only one way (taking the subway the other). Breakfast was great, as I've come to expect in Italy, and has a good view too.

Dear Guest,
We thank you to have chosen our hotel for your stay in Rome and we are glad to know that you enjoyed our property.
We appreciate your note about “….think of a nicely decorated ship cabin”, it sounds very funny… the idea of a ship cabin in down-town overlooking Rome’s roofs and St. Peter moved us and we are going to use this comparison in our hotel description.
Looking to have you as one of our guest soon, we remain
Kind Regards

Had a lovely time in Rome with my wife and daughter at the hotel Barberini. We travel a lot with our travel membership and this was a great find in Rome. Clean rooms, very good location around the corner from the underground and walking distance to Trevi fountain and Spanish steps. Felt really safe in the area and although not too big the rooms were traditionally decorated with a nice balcony to view the Rome skyline from.

Saved 23% compared to expedia so we were happy to book an extra night at this wonderful little gem in the heart of Rome :)

This hotel may be 4 star by facilities on paper - but as any traveller knows, service makes the true star rating and this was 1 star service. From the reception attendant smoking (didn't get his name but he was on duty 9th 1800 and 1000 on 10th June) to the breakfast "team" of 2 people, to the maid ignoring the "do not disturb" light, to emails before booking-in ignored, it really was disappointing. A definite one to avoid (it'll be interesting to see if they respond to this review too!).
Feel free to read my other reviews to see that I'm quite balanced.

We have just returned from a week at the Barberini and we had a very pleasant time. We have to agree with most of the previous positive comments on Tripadvisor. Yes the rooms are small (it's the centre of Rome). The rooms can be noisey if you leave the windows open (once again, it's the centre of Rome), but with the windows closed it was virtually silent apart from some inconsiderate people on the adjacent room who decided to sing in the early hours of the morning on one occassion. Each room is individually airconditioned (if you want it). The curtains proved a very dark room, which with the quiet room made for a good nights sleep.
We stayed on the fifth floor and overlooked the Palazzo Barberini and could view the Vatican from the balcony.
The breakfast buffet was great and the service was great (we have to mention Laura as being a very pleasant and helpful person).
If something is not right or you need help, just ask, the hotel staff provided us with a kettle to make tea and helped us find a shop to buy a new suitcase when one of ours broke the day before we left.
The location was perfect for us and we only used public transport on one occassion, we walked everywhere else. We would certainly use the Barberini again if we return to Rome.

Room Tip: Fifth floor has balconies and 507 is a funny shape but has great views.
