“ROOM AIR CONDITIONING IS FEEBLE.”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Our Globus tour started at this hotel. The lobby was nicely furnished, with comfortable seating. Our rooms were ready in a reasonable time. Our room was tiny and very hot for late September. The thermostat read in the high 80's.

I went to the front desk and they told me to leave the room key in the card holder to keep the airconditioning going. They gave me a second key to cool the room while we were out on the tour. We came back to the room in the late evening and the room temperature was still in the 80's! I went to the front desk again and they said the would send somebody to checkout our room A/C system. They never showed up and we had to leave the window open to barely get some sleep.

Next morning's breakfast was buffet stye and very good. There was a very large selection of hot and cold items.

The second night's room temperature was still too hot, and we got the same response from the front desk. We were glad to check out and leave!

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms on the first floor.

The hotel looks promising from the outside as well as the lobby. The staff was friendly and service was good. Food was good at the restaurant but severely over priced and limited menu.

The carpets in the hallways look in poor shape, multiple stains everywhere. Since the carpets are red the white bleach marks look like multiple people have been murdered over the years. The bathroom was small with no basin for the shower so the floor gets wet and slippery after a shower. The bed was small but I liked that they had padded walls so when I hit my arm it didn't hurt. The furnishings were ok but need replacing soon. Wifi worked well but timed out often. Not conducive for video chats or heavy web use.

Myself and some colleagues were placed in this hotel during a Rome based conference. We didn't expect much due to the poor reviews on this site. But on arrival neither the reception area or our rooms were smelly as some had reported so it was a good start. Checking in was painless and all was going well until the evening bar service. One member of staff was running round like a headless chicken looking after the restaurant and the bar. Well I say looking after but we waited for 30 minutes before receiving attention, then to only be told that they had run out of beer... unreal.

Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and room was kept clean if a little jaded. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the closest Metro stop but you can then get around easily. And a 30 minute walk to the Vatican.

Not an unpleasant stay but nothing outstanding to point out but one bit of advice, go to the local supermarket (5 minutes walk) and get your own beers. They cost 6 times more in the hotel for exactly the same brand.

Room Tip: I only saw my own which was round the back of the hotel. Air con is quite noisy but preferable to l...

We stayed here earlier in the week and I had booked one disabled room for my Dad and Son.
The hotel itself was lovely but I just think they need a few pointers where the disabled rooms are concerned. The bathroom needs grab rails, at least one by the toilet and one by the shower, the shower could also benefit from a shower chair, when my Son had showered my Dad he had to leave him holding only the actual shower whilst he went to get the wheelchair, put a towel on the wheelchair and then sit him in it to get dried. He also said that whilst it was a walk in shower, the floor was marble so once wet it was absolutely lethal and my Dad was frightened to take a step for fear of falling over.
The disabled toilet in the lobby was also out of order.

This place is a victim of being not in the best place in Rome and I imagine way down the list at NH hotels on the refurbishment rota. The room was pretty small, smelt damp and was pretty dated. We were staying as part of a conference based in the hotel and on every evening the bar service was beyond awful. Either the barman was the waiter in the restaurant or vice versa. The bar stocks of beer were pathetic despite advanced warning. They had no draught and not many bottles. Would I stay again? Not while the Pope is a catholic. The TV's were older than grass and the channel choice and reception on said channels was very bad. On the plus side breakfast was very good and the dinner we stayed in for was alright.

We came a day early before a Globus tour of Italy and spent 3 nights here in total. Room was dirty and needed major renovation. Carpet dirty with stains and cigarette burn holes. Walls in dire need of paint. Room musty because air conditioning was limited and heavy traffic noise if left open. This hotel is far from most Rome tourist areas. No restaurants nearby other than hotel or pizza. Breakfast buffet was good the first morning because we arrived at 8:45 am since our tour did not begin until the following morning. The next 2 mornings we were there at 7am and food was limited, no coffee cups were available, long lines for limited food, empty buffet pans from scrambled eggs, etc. We asked wait staff about coffee cups and food since our time was limited and they were totally rude. Front desk was useless with help. Our cost for the one night not included in our tour was $350. NOT worth it! All 43 people on our tour were complaining!
