The location of this hotel is great - we were able to walk to all major attractions - buts thats where the positives ended for us.
We found the staff at reception indifferent, we felt like a nuisance if we asked a question.
The entire hotel is extremely outdated and all the furnishings are worn out and the bedding had definitely seen better days. Our room was the same and VERY small - we are average sized people but had to turn sideways to walk between end of bed and wall (no exaggeration)! The bathroom was tiny too but a bit more modern (although shower wasn't 100% clean). After a sleepless night our first night due to horrendous street noise (suggest everyone request a front facing room as the back is next to an alley/street and traffic and people don't stop all night) and a clunking air con unit I asked reception to move us to and they obliged - our new room was slightly more spacious and the bathroom was cleaner too (it's still noisy being opposite parliament and a demonstration that was happening). We had breakfast included but didn't use it each morning as it wasn't appealing (although the rooftop location is nice).
I think there are other hotels in similar locations for similar prices that would be nicer.

Great location! but really disappointed with the room given the photos on the hotel site were impressive. The room was tiny. The furniture was ancient and had extensive chipping due to age.
We were travelling as a group of five (4 rooms) and they were all less than good. The room rates are high due to the location. We would never stay here again as it is just a cash cow location wise and I doubt there will be any improvements in the near future. Staff cool but efficient.

Room Tip: Given my review above I can't recommend a good room

I stayed in this hotel four nights with several friends. We mainly choose it for its excellent location nearby Via Corso, but we were also pleasantly surprised with the large room sizes and the stunning top terrace views at breakfast. This hotel was great for the purpose of our trip, I can't remember any downsides.

I cannot even say that the customer service in colonna palace is poor it is NON existent!!!
You can always judge a hotel by how it responds to problems & Colonna Palace showed its true colours!!!
We were a family of 5 travelling together, I booked 2 superior rooms with view & confirmed (via email) that the rooms would be adjoining & an extra bed would be required for our 6yr old son. When we arrived we were told they had not saved 2 rooms together, we had a choice of either 2 superior rooms but not close to each other or 1 superior & 1 without a view but opposite each other. As we were travelling with our children we had no option but to go for the rooms close by. I did not complain even when we found out the extra bed had not been supplied.

About 30mins after we arrived I got a call from reception to advise they did not know there were 3 children (they did as they had received & replied to my email). They informed me there would be an additional €30 charge per night for our youngest child. I advised I did not think this was very fair as we had to downgrade to a standard room due to their error but had not asked for a refund. They were abrupt and said they would never had promised rooms together until I actually showed them the email. In the end they agreed to charge me €20 per night but would not refund the difference in room rate.

So all in all it was a very disappointing hotel stay, we were given the wrong rooms, which were very noisy on the road side, the extra bed we ordered was not ready, we were charged an extra €60, they tried to charge us for Internet access (which should be free in superior rooms -if you are lucky to get one!) & city tax for the children & not once did we receive an apology from the staff who would win the 'most rude' hotel staff award if there was one. The hotel is also quite shabby, have problems with the drains (bad smell) & the breakfast is very poor.
We usually stay at the Nazionale hotel which is only about 100mtrs away, but thought the spa pool on the terrace would be nice for the children - we have learnt our lesson & will ensure we never stay at the colonna palace again.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel!

This hotel is close to everything in Rome. Because of the parlament across the street, the building is guarded night and day by the police. It feelt very safe.
The room was ok, but the wifi conection was very bad. It's a shame we had to pay for it. The room was clean and tidy. This hotel is a good choise for a shoort stay in Rome.

Had an amazing 2 night stay here last week, what a hotel. Situated in the centre of the City, a stones throw from the Pantheon, it was the most perfect hotel to stay while visiting the amazing sites. We met the perfect waiter in the hotel......a young lad from Bangladesh who was most helpful....his family have a restaurant in Edinburgh, we will be visiting them soon. Really hope to stay here again soon. Peter & Anna

We had a great stay at the Colonna Palace Hotel. Situated within walking distance of everything this is a top spot for exploring Rome. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, from extra pillows to extending our checkout time so we could use the room up until our transfer to the airport, worth paying the little bit extra so we could shower after another 30 degree day before getting on a 24 hour flight home! Breakfast on the roof terrace was good too!
