You name it; a resident pianist, use of the spa, friendly & professional staff, fantastic facilities all maintained to the highest standard... Even the food was great. There were two great restaurants within walking distance, but even the hotel restaurant manager was enough to go back for. Crowne Plazas have always set the standard for me and this is one of their better ones.

Room Tip: All the rooms have balconies I believe - one overlooking the tennis courts was an advantage to watch a game while enjoying a glass of wine at sunset.

Well to start with- what does one need most when on a city holiday? A nice place to stay with all the amenities and a spacious, comfortable room. The Crowne Plaza at St Petersburg has it all. We loved the room, so spacious and modern, very comfortable beds, nice bathroom- just lovely. And when you return all exhausted from the expeditions/adventures/sightseeing, you can unwind in the spa or the outdoor pool to be fit to hit the town again in the evening. Some more good points- free bathrobes, affordable hourly internet rate @€3. The only downside is that this is a huge hotel 300 above guests and that can get pretty crowdy at breakfast. The breakfast itself though could do with some more variety and changes.
Now a few valuable tips on how to get around: the hotel is a bit outside the city center and this may be considered as a downside. Not necessarily, firstly the hotel offers a shuttle to the Vatican in the morning and to the city center in the evening, which is ok but requires a lot of walking getting to the main attractions. So after the first day we decided to take the local bus and the subway to get around. The subway stations are very close to all the main attractions, in fact some of them are right outside as you step out of the subway station. Right outside the hotel is a bus stop from where you can take 3 different buses Nr. 98, 881 and 889 to get to the subway station Cornelia. The buses run very frequently and we never had to wait more than 3-4 minutes to get to the subway station. The bus ride takes about 5-6 minutes and the subway ride to the Termini station or any other station about 10-15 minutes. Very convenient. You can either buy a daily pass for €6 which includes the bus rides as well or a 3 day pass. We found this more convenient as against the hotel shuttle which only opeates at certain times and the downtown stop is not very easy to find and far away from all the attractions, in case you want to take the shuttle back to the hotel. And dont forget to enjoy some delicious pasta when in Rome and the unbeatable Espresso/Cappucino- probably the best in the world.

this was a return visit for me,
we booked the shuttle to and from the airport, we found it very convenient, you do need to walk to the designated bus bay, distance dependant on your arrival terminal, it took us about 5/10 minutes from T3
The staff were friendly, courteous and helpfull, ,Reception staff cover a variety of languages between them.
we had the buffet meal option one evening for dinner, a great idea, with a good selection for each course,
There is a large park near the hotel, which we stumbled across, although clearly marked on the map, well worth exxploring, full of surprises, including sunbathing terrapins

Our room was large and very comfortable.
the Spa centre offers various treatments with plenty of relaxation areas betwen treatments or using the pool/jacuzzi,the place for serious me time.

We liked all of the hotels in five different countries that we stayed in during our Euripean vacation, but this one was the most like an American hotel, and since we are Americans we were very comfortable there. The room was spacious and comfortable and ahd a very nice bathroom. It also had a very nice outside balcony with a view of the surrounding area.

Breakfast was the only meal that we had there and it was a vast assortment of breakfast foods that should meet the desires of just about everyone. it isn't cooked to order, s it is a buffet, but for what it is it is a good breakfast.

One of our favorite things was the covered outside bar patio. Each evening we were able to sit with friends for drinks on comfortable couches and chairs, and there was evena iano player for us. The bar was full service and the waiter very nice and efficient.

The downside is the distance from Roman attractions, but it is a big city, and because of the historical significance transport is difficult. That isn't the fault of the hotel.

We booked this hotel because we are Priority club gold & the revues where good, we were sadly disappointed. Arriving at the airport for an 11 day stay there was no hotel coach at the designated bay after lugging our baggage for what seemed kilometers, took taxi instead, fine. Arrived to find no meet & greet, a long check in queue of cruise ship people on stop over taking "priority" no Priority club desk no acknowledgment waited over 45 minutes to check in, the room was not cleaned or ready waited another 20 minutes to occupy, the room was in a poor condition. Contacted front desk to discuss, next morning met with duty manager (Simonetta) she agreed re the room said we could change showed us another it was an improvement but also had several items damaged (we must state here that we had prepaid half of this holiday & where sure there would not be a refund, or where to change too at short notice & loose at least 2 days of this trip). This lady did understand our predicament & we were given various credits & a complimentary tour as an apology. The bar Il Palco & Osteria restaurant are good the ala carte & buffet food quality & service very pleasant. All the staff are overstretched as we found out when talking to them in conversation. The breakfast buffet food is fine, if you like being at feeding time at the zoo! the staff there are not enough & are flying around trying to tend to fractious cruise ship passengers many with luggage, the queue to enter is always extensive because the restaurant is to small, the hotel should have separate dining room for longer staying guests where breakfast can be enjoyed. We found out the average guest stay is just 2 nights. We used the indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna its ok but equipment is broken (shower, jacuzzi functions etc.) We completed Crowne Plaza's "letter us serve you better" form to our surprise the name of the previous GM was still printed on this & she had left some years before. We did meet with David Grille the GM, whose attitude was frankly condescending & pompous, he informed us that this is one of busiest & best (yes with cruise passengers! not much care for longer stay holiday people) hotels in the group & Rome, we had the definite impression he thought we were after refunds, he was going to offer some type of gift we refused, because all we wanted was a pleasant & relaxing stay which we certainly did not receive. We are very experienced worldwide travelers & this without doubt is the worst hotel & experience we have had!!!
