“Don't go to this hotel!”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

Terrible rooms, dirty and you could hear the people in the next room as if they were inside your room.
Towels were dirty. Had to ask for new towels and blankets several times before finally receiving them.
Ok location.
The Greek man in the reception was nice.

I was disappointed when we walked through the area to the hotel as it seemed run down. But once we got there we really liked it. Fenced in courtyard. Great breakfast. Many good restaurants in the area. Very convenient for Metro. Not really in the middle of things but the main tourist spots were so unbearably crowded that we were glad to get on the .metro and go back to our more quiet area. Watch out for pickpockets on metro. At Station near Trevi my husband found another hand in his pocket. Trick is that 2- 3 young men are together. First one stops in your way and the other reaches in your pocket and hops back off as the door is closing. No luck with us, though.

The Royal Court is very close to Termini but in a very quiet street.
Hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful, especially the man who arranged breakfast.
Our advice is to take the breakfast option. It was plentiful, fresh and very good value and certainly saved us time and money every day.
Our room (108) was large and well presented, on the ground floor so no view, but did have a very comfortable bed and a jacuzzi bath. The air-con was good and the room always felt clean and fresh. The wifi was excellent and worked at all times.
There is a safe in the room.
The area is very handy for exploring Rome. We bought a 7 day CIS pass from the news vendor in Termini station and went as far as Ostia Antica ( a must -see!). I think they also sell these 3 or 7 day passes at the hotel.
Sometimes when returning from touristing we got off the metro (blue line B) at Castro Pretorio just to avoid the crowds in Termini, which took the same time but was an easier walk.
Local restaurants are a bit mixed. Some of the Trattorias are a bit jaded Our faves were Agora on Via Milazzo and Meid in Nepols on Via Varese.
Overall, excellent.

Room Tip: We had room 108 - ground floor and quite large with a jacuzzi bath and excellent shower. No view but...

While in Rome and staying at the Royal Court I became very ill and needed emergency assistance. The hotel staff were the best. They went out of there way to help by calling an ambulance and getting me safely to hospital. While I was receiving treatment they cleaned my room ( there was a bit of blood!!) and kept the room available for us and luggage safe even though we didn't have booked accommodation for that night. I didn't return until late that night and they then arranged for us to stay another night at the same rate!

We couldn't have asked for better care. Thanks again..

By the way. I recovered and all is well.

Big room, high ceilings, but very basic. Main issue was window with wooden shutters let virtually zero natural light through with no adjustment, great if you like sleeping through the day?!?!?! Just didn't feel like a 4 star, we paid £210 for 3 nights so if you can get a 3 star for less I'd go with it..... Main plus was location, it is about 4 minutes from termini station so very easy links to both transport and all major city landmarks.

Dear guest,
thank you for writing a review.
We have never claimed
that all of our guests at 100% are satisfied. We are hardly working for having as more as possible guests that when they leave Rome and our hotel they thing that they have been in a place where they are welcome.
There are exceptions and always they will be.
The only thing that I would like to ask you is why you didn't tell us at the reception that you were not happy with that room. We could maybe propose you something else. At the end we/you could open the wooden shutters, they are not fixed.
That the hotel is 4 stars we know it and all guests that are coming here know it too. But as I wrote there are always exceptions no matter what we do or provide. There are always some that will find something that is wrong.
Kind regards
Dimitri

We visited Rome for the first time last week and were so pleased that we had chosen the Hotel Royal Court. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable, with a super en suite facility. Everything was absolutely spotless - really clean. The food was very good - a reasonable choice of dishes at breakfast, with everything very fresh. However, the most notable feature of this hotel has to be the FANTASTIC service provided by the Reception staff - particularly Dimitri, who just could not do enough to assist us, including recommending some excellent restaurants. Whilst we were initially disappointed that there was no bar on site, we soon found that this gave us the opportunity to visit a number of the excellent bars/trattorias in the nearby vicinity. The location of this hotel could not be better. We will DEFINITELY be booking to stay again. J & D F
