“Best meal we had in Rome, from two 'foodies'”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

We found this restaurant by accident. It is near the hotel that we're staying at and looked an authentic Roman restaurant, and didn't have waiters outside trying to entice us in, never a very promising practice!

We were having difficulty in finding somewhere that we thought would be good, so we had bought some sandwiches, fruit etc, which we had already eaten. We thought we'd just drop in to this restaurant for a cappuccino. As we walked in we saw a server taking an order to a table. Being foodies who appreciate well prepared food, we realized that this was going to be a really good place to eat, it looked very nice, well prepared and presented etc. So we ended up having a full meal, (even though we had already eaten!), which was absolutely delicious. As we weren't too hungry we asked for specific items, the server Flavia, was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. When our meal arrived it more than lived up to expectations and was perfect. We can't speak highly enough of the good food; nothing ostentatious; just well prepared, and original combinations of fresh ingredients. Flavia was just fantastic, she even found out the times of the train for us to get to the port to go on a cruise; she's a great asset to the business, brilliant customer service. We are in Rome for another 3 nights, we won't be going anywhere else to eat, we've found the perfect place, we won't be searching any more for great food, we've found it. Highly, highly recommended, we loved it.

“Delicious and authentic. DO NOT MISS this place to eat!”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel as we wanted authentic wood fired oven Roman pizza. Do not be fooled by the exterior when it is closed - this is typical of these eateries who are not allowed to touch the exterior by Roman law - inside is cute, beautifully decorated, simple and clean. The place specialises in genuine wood fired oven pizza (surprisingly difficult to find in Rome - and not available before 7pm due to the laws again!). Staff are friendly and relaxed, prices are decent (2 adults - shared starter and dessert and bottle of Chianti, plus 2 pizzas approx Eur50). Menu is extensive and includes non-pizza items. Starters and desserts are huge (hence the sharing - the homemade Tiramisu was literally 4 inches square). So good, we returned for our final night!
Small tip - when reading the menu the ingredients for the pizza are literally listed in the order they appear on the pizza - therefore tomatoes, mozzerella, mushrooms - is a margherita pizza with mushrooms as you'd expect - HOWEVER, mozzerella, fresh tomatoes and olives is literally mozzerella straight on the pizza base with fresh tomatoes and olives chopped on top - I personally found the cheese straight on the pizza base a little too heavy going - but I learnt for the second time around!!! A faboulous place, not to be missed. Go early or book to avoid disappointment. On both nights (mid week) the place was full by 8pm.

Wowee. Absolutely outstanding pizza and very good pasta. Went twice as it was incredibly tasty.

The puttanesca had the best napoli I've ever had. Terrific.

“Great pizzas”
Reviewed 18 October 2013 via mobile

We visited here at 6pm but Italians don't like to eat too early so it didn't open until 7pm. The pizza here was beautiful. Definitely lived up to the positive TA reviews. We somehow managed to fit in pasta which was also good, although pizza definitely their speciality! Worth a visit

“Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

We found this restaurant the last night of our visit to Rome. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. People from the neighborhood kept coming in to pick up pizzas to go and it was obvious that it was a popular local place. They let us try some of the different deserts to see which ones we liked best and then they gave us complimentary drinks after dinner. It was a wonderful send off from Rome. I can't wait to go back.
