“A bit of a distance but enjoyable.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

This hotel was booked for us as part of a group tour (Alba Tours). We stayed there 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and once mid-way through. Our room the first part was quite small and the AC was only sub-par. But the next stay we had a different room which was quite a bit larger and the AC certainly worked - had to turn it off worked so well. The onsite restaurant is VERY expensive but the continental breakfast (which was included for us) was decent enough. Italians aren't big on their breakfasts so don't expect much. It is a bit of distance to the 'main attractions' - to the Vatican city or Colosseum about at 15 minute cab ride (shouldn't be more than $15 euros MAX so make sure they don't rip you off). We walked to the Spanish Steps/Trevi Fountain and it took about 45 minutes and we felt very safe. You could even walk through the big park if you wanted. Make sure you have a map!!! Rome is hard to navigate, not a grid system what-so-ever. There are many restaurants nearby, we tried a few of them and were very pleased. Also a 'bar' (small deli/coffee shop) right across the road.

Wouldn't be opposed to staying here again, but would prefer to try and find something similar closer to the hot spots.

Dear dubshan22

Many thanks for taking the time to review the Beverly Hills Rome.
As you note the hotel is located within a quieter area of the city, the Parioli, adjacent to the centre. We are located next to the Villa Borghese park. Regarding your comments on aircon I am glad we were able to accommodate you in another room to your liking. The hotel team work hard to ensure guest satisfaction where possible. I do hope we can welcome you back to Italy in the future.

With best wishes

This hotel was a bit out of the way from the main tourist area. There are local restaurants right around the corner for good authentic Italian food that is a lot cheaper than the tourist area. For a sit down dinner exit the hotel and turn left then left again. For fast food exit the hotel and go right. The bathrooms were typical of Europe in which they are small but this one looked recently remodeled, all new fixtures and it was extremely clean. The room was hot when we arrived and it took a little while for it to cool off, but the temperature has a cut off on it and I would have preferred it colder in the room. Our room was on the main street but I could not hear any street noise. Breakfast had a good selection. The front desk staff and the bell hops were extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel bar on the main level was horrible. We ordered sandwiches and drinks. I asked if they had lemonade and was told yes, and what I got was a glass of real cooking lemon. It was dreadful. They should have just said no, we don't have it. The lemonade and two of the three sandwiches were left on the table untouched. A very nice hotel but do not eat in the bar.

For me a gorgeous retro feel, timeless tasteful décor. In its heyday, comfortably elegant, solid. Yes, lift small, era typical, but quite safe. Our large room (#609) had an entry area, bathroom to left and bedroom to right. Brass slats held down carpet divides. Yes, shower cubicle small but bathroom sparkling clean and appeared newly renovated with quality porcelain, tiles and fittings + wall-phone. Handbasin was enormous with a beautiful classic shape. Of course the space had to accommodate the (to us) mysterious bidet. Bedding fresh and comfortable. Aircon took a while to crank up, inadequate for summer, so we had an uncomfortable first night. Yes, a bit noisy streetside, but as tourists, interesting to hear ‘other city’ sounds. Appreciated ice availability.
As a coach tourist, I wanted access to an iron to freshen up some clothes. Sorry, I will not pay in-house ironing prices. I do not buy the fire hazard excuse as so many places have ironing board in-room. If you deal with coach travellers please offer an ironing area. Also, please offer ‘tea/coffee making’ in our room or in a common area. This is cultural, as much as the idea of what constitutes a breakfast is different. Some folk like a ‘cuppa’ after rising from bed to start the day. I do not eat sweets or salads as breakfast but accept that cultural difference; so please, allow us this little custom as part of opening your doors to global coach travellers.
There was no toilet on the lower breakfast floor. For seniors, meant hauling legs/ handluggage up and down staircase midstream. We did not experience a typical Australian (American/Brit) breakfast til Athens.
PS: I need good sleep, aircon, ice availability, tea making tray, iron, I look for a decent light to read by at night.
Overall, this establishment would not fall below 3 ½ star.

I'm not one for long passages of flowery text, so just getting straight to the point:

- rooms are old and shabby

- air conditioning is very loud and to be honest very poor at actually lowering room temperature

- the staff on the front desk (or more precisely the once I have dealt with having stayed here 3 times now) are rude and unhelpful - if asked to actually do anything beyond find your key card

- the breakfast is the worst I have had outside of the Travelodge City Airport in London (and that is bad! :)) although I must say the staff at breakfast are lovely

- you get little, if anything, more for booking a superior or above room

- TV is poor (selection and signal)

- location for central Rome is very poor (although there are some lovely restaurants near the hotel)

Avoid if you can.

Room Tip: Book into a better hotel :)

Stayed there as it was part of our escorted tour.Average hotel. Far away from major tourist attractions. It was the middle of summer and very hot and the AC was not working on our first night. The next day they fixed it but still did not feel comfortable in the rooms. Breakfast buffet (included as part of the tour) was awful. The hotel does not have a fitness center and wifi is not available even in the lobby. You can buy internet access but costs 6 euros ( 10 dollars) for 15 minutes ! If you are staying on your own I would research other options

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and very nice. The staff was very nice as well. The location is not the best as it is somewhat far away from many of Rome's attractions. It is an older hotel but has a lot of character. I would say the happy hour was not so happy as we were the only ones there and it was a poor value for what you got. The breakfast was very good and restaurants in the area were quite good.
