We chose this hotel because of the price and location. It's just a 5 minute walk from the Termini and was really easy to find. The rooms are quite small but we just wanted somewhere to shower and sleep after a long days sightseeing and this suited perfectly. The rooms looked fairly recently refurbished and were very clean. The hotel staff were all friendly and welcoming and breakfast was included. This consisted of pastries, bread, meat, cheese, cereal or fruit along with hot drinks. It was more than ample to set us up for the day. If I had one wish it would be to have the facilities to make tea & coffee in the room. The hotel will happily make one for you for a reasonable €2 but we were on the 3rd floor with no lift and couldn't always face the stairs as there is no lift. Overall this is a great budget hotel centrally located with great staff. If I returned to Rome I'd definitely consider going back!

Room Tip: Choose a ground floor garden room.

For my 50th birthday we wanted a hotel in Rome that was based fairly centrally for easy access to public transport and all the attractions. The Hotel Select Garden has proven to be perfect for this in every way. Whilst maybe over due for a little spruce up , the hotel and all it's facilities are immaculate clean and perfectly adequate. Our room was a little on the small side but again, did the job we paid for..Comfortable, clean and quiet. With an ensuite bathroom, TV and wardrobe, our room overlooked the delightful garden where you can sit in an evening and have a pre dinner drink under the lemon trees.
Breakfast was continental and offered a huge selection of cereal, cold meats, cheeses, breads and pastries etc.
The staff were all excellent and very helpful.
Within 5 mins there are several excellent restaurants if you don't want to venture further afield by tube to the major sights.
If you want an excellently positioned ( two minutes from the main central transport hub for trains Metro etc 'Roma Termini' ) , then I can't recommend this hotel higher enough.
Basic, clean, friendly and very good value for money.

We stayed here for 3 nights earlier this week after booking this hotel through a package travel deal. The two stars attributed to this hotel are one for service and one for location... Other than that it gets 0 from me.

The good: Staff was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. Location is only a short walk from the main train station and metro station making getting around the city a breeze.

The bad: Our first room was located in the lobby of the hotel and we were awaken multiple times throughout the night by people checking in or general commotion in the lobby. After one night of this We requested a room change which the hotel staff granted us. The next morning we were lucky enough to be awaken by construction noise in the room next to us. This coupled with the uncomfortable beds, we got very little sleep for 3 nights.

The ugly: Our room needed serious remodeling. It was clear that there had been significant water damage to the drywall as it was totally dis colored. Where they had patched it, the work was poorly done and not painted over. In the bathroom there appeared to be mold on the wall and in the shower the grout was discolored and the shower head was held up by tape! I took pictures of all this to post on here for others to see. Finally a panel in the laminate flooring was installed wrong with a large gap and slid back and forth.

If this hotel decides to renovate the rooms, it could be good. Right now, I would strongly advise staying elsewhere.

Very nice friendly hotel, but the room are very small, the garden room we stayed in was ok, the metro can be heard, this can be a little annoying when heard when just dropping off to sleep, but soon get use to it, and it stops about midnight,
The toilet/shower room is very small, backing onto the toilet can become an art form,
No coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms
breakfast is good

Room Tip: if given a choice pick a room within the hotel, the garden room are across a small forcourt , ok if...

We stayed here for 4 nights during March 2014. The hotel had been recently been refurbished and our room 338 although small was excellent. The bed was huge, two singles joined together, and the quality of the fittings and finish in the shower room was fantastic equal to any 4star hotel. There was a flat screen TV, fast free WiFi and a fridge mini-bar. There was also air-con in the room but we didn't need to use it. The window overlooked the garden and lemon tree. The buffet breakfast was served in the basement which had also recently been redecorated. In the summer we understand that breakfast is served in the courtyard garden which is unusual for the centre of Rome. The buffet breakfast was very good with bread, rolls, ham, cheese, salami, croissants, selection of cake, jams, chocolate spread, cereals, selection of yoghurts, prunes and tinned fruit salad with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit juice to drink. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Milena who served the breakfast, she gave us tour hints, directions and bus numbers - a great help! She also offered to make "real Italian cappuccino coffee" rather that the stuff from the machine! It was delicious!! The hotel is well placed being only 5 minutes walk from Termini station, the bus station, lines A & B on the Metro and where the airport coaches drop off. It's not very salubrious around the actual station, it never is in any city, but the hotel is in a quiet road we were never disturbed by noise. All in all a fantastic budget hotel. We feel that earlier negative reviews must have been before the refurbishment. Although there is not a safe in the room, the reception staff are more than happy to put your valuables in an envelope and put it in the hotel safe. Be realistic and remember if you choose a 3* hotel do not expect 5* facilities!!!! It's our third trip to Rome, it's a beautiful city........ But do beware of pickpockets! Keep your purses, phones and wallets safe!!!

Convenient location to Termini station. Breakfasts were okay. The lady was very nice serving breakfast.

The room was so small and no window. Do not stay in the room on 1st floor. It's small, noisy and no air. The bathroom was very small and old.

Service was very good for breakfast.

Reception service was okay, there was an old man at the reception desk.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on 1st floor. Make sure get a room upstairs
