Would definitely stay here again in the future! This trip was out of season. Freshly baked croissants & pastries for breakfast, helpful staff especially Ivan, very near the Termini train station and walking distance (if you like to walk) to Trevi Fountain & Spanish steps.
Room was newly renovated, not very big but adequate for what we needed.

Room was small but very clean. Location was convenient, just a few blocks from Roma Termini. Free WiFi and breakfast were bonuses.

My best friend and I stayed at Hotel Sonya for a week based on the Rick Steves' Rome book. The freshly baked goods by Farhad were a delight to start our day and he and his kitchen staff were ready with out coffee even before we sat down to eat. The desk staff was amazing and helpful and the convenience of calling for a cab to wisk us off to any location in Rome was a Godsend. Cabs arrived in less than 2 minutes often. Beds and pillows were comfy and super clean. The room, immaculate, was a bit smaller than I had hoped for the price and the lighting somewhat dim but we were treated to a computer in our room for ease in communicating home. The location is great and Strega Restaurant down the way is a nice place for a late night dinner or snack.

ten min walk from the train station, really easy to find. check in no prob, room quite big with nice clean bathroom and had everything you needed although you do have to pay for the tea in the room so wouldnt be a bad idea to buy some tea bags or coffee in "de spar" and leave it in your room.
breakfast was really good and the morning staff were more than helpfull, good selection of food and drinks.
all main attractions are within walking distance if you are prepared to do a bit of walking, for example the furthest walk we did was to the vatican which was a gud 45 min walk but this way you got to see a lot more of rome.
all in all an excellant hotel and trip.

I chose Hotel Sonya from all the great reviews on Trip Advisor, and we were not disappointed. We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. The hotel was 10 minutes walk from the Termini train station, and was really easy to find. We arrived really early and although the room was not ready, the staff were more than happy to take care of our cases for a few hours so we could stroll round before we checked in.
The room was on the 5th floor, reached in a beautiful old style cage lift. We were shown to the room personally, and all the controls for the TV and air con were explained to us.
The room was a lovely size, bed was huge, very clean with a double shower in the bathroom. The windows when closed let no noise in, and when used, the shutters kept the room dark.
We were amazed at the proximity of the hotel to all the major attractions, we reached everywhere by walking - apart from the Vatican, which we used the metro from Republica station a few minutes walk away.
When the staff realised we were celebrating a 40th birthday, they knocked the door with a bottle of wine and a letter to say 'happy birthday' which we thought was a really lovely touch.
The breakfasts were great - we particularly enjoyed the pizza rustica! Warm croissants, ham, cheese, cereals and yoghurts were more than enough.
The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, service was excellent and someone was always on hand with information and advice. The free wifi was a godsend too for being able to email all our photos home! We didn't use the mini bar but it was lovely to have a fridge in the room. There was a small supermarket (Carrefour) on the opposite corner of the street
On checking out, the hotel again offered to watch our cases until we departed for the airport, which gave us time to get some last minute sightseeing in.
I would definetely return to Hotel Sonya, and would without hesitation recommend it to friends. From the outside it looks small, but inside is wonderfully welcoming and friendly! Well done to all the staff!!
