We stayed at the Hotel Ranieri Rome for 5 nights. We discovered after the first night that the hotel's location was FAR away from the city center and all of the attractions of Rome. We had to take a bus to get anywhere, the bus stop was very close to the hotel, but we had to wait an average of 30-45 minutes for the bus to loop around to our location. The metro was a 15 minute brisk walk and taxi's were very expensive. We wasted a lot of time and money getting to the main locations (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Coliseum, etc.). The only thing that the hotel was close to was the train station.
The hotel itself is dated, our shower was dirty, the elevator ancient. The "full" breakfast was a joke - we went once and never returned even though it was included in our room rate. Bad food!

Room Tip: Don't stay at this hotel if you want to see the attractions that Rome has to offer. Spend more money on a hotel with a central location - it will be well worth it!!

Dear Michelle S,
Thank you very much for your review. I am very sorry to read that your stay in Rome has been disappointing. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify some of the points you have raised:
Ranieri is located in the historical center of Rome, inside “the aurelian walls” and less than 10 minutes walk from the “Repubblica” metro station. Many of the main attractions, such as Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Quirinale Palace and Galleria Borghese can be reached by foot in 10 -20 minutes.
The hotel has been completely renovated since 2008 including all of the guest rooms. The latest renovation works were completed in February 2014 and we are very proud of the result. I sincerely apologize if you found the shower not perfectly cleaned. The cleanliness of the guest rooms is a matter of utmost importance to us and I have talked to our cleaning team about your feedback.
The elevator is retrò style but the machinery is modern and respects all required safety certificates and inspections. You might be surprised to know that some of our clients consider our characteristic elevator more reassuring than the modern ones.
I am sorry if our breakfast buffet was not to your liking. I do understand that people have different eating habits and therefore different expectations concerning the breakfast. In addition to a standard continental breakfast buffet with sweet croissants, cakes, biscuits, bread, jam, honey, nutella, cheeses, ham, salami, cereals, yogurt, and fruit juices, we provide also tomatoes, bacon and eggs. On request, our staff is pleased to serve cappuccino or espresso coffee instead of the self-service drinks. We consider our selection of food items fairly ample for a 3-star hotel. Nevertheless your valuable opinion will be shared with our management team in order to introduce eventually further improvements. Again, thank you for your feedback. I hope that I have been able to clarify some of your points and if future travels bring you back to Rome you will give us another opportunity to welcome you!

I was alone and the staff were so friendly and offered suggestions on top attractions. I loved Rome so much, i walked to 3 differents train stations from here. Location perfect for many restaurants and amazing ice creams . I had a good buffet breakfast to last me all day.

Quiet area with lots of nice and pricey tavernas and restaurants nearby. Can specially recommend Fiaschetteria Marini at Via Raffaele Cadorna 9 and Osteria Quarantaquattro (44) at Via Aureliana 42/44.
The room was simple but clean with comfy beds. We had the window facing the courtyard: an ugly but quiet place.
The breakfast was really good for being in Italy: different breads, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, cucumber, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, Nutella, marmalade, milk, juice (very sweet), tea or coffee e.g.
Nice and helpful staff at the front desk.

This was a lovely hotel in a handy location for transport, sites, restaurants and bars. Clean bedroom and en suite. Great buffet breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice little bar where we enjoyed a relaxing drink after busy days site seeing.

Just to let you know that a few of us had to overnight in Rome and stayed at the Hotel Ranieri. Found it a great place, with friendly and helpful staff that spoke excellent English
Rooms were clean
Brekki was great!
All in all a good pick!

Room Tip: We all had twin rooms, while mine was great, the one on the 4th floor was a bit smaller and cramped. Other than that I couldn't say
