“The soul of Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2013

As many properties of Rocco Forte Collection, De Russie has its' own ambiance and style. It's unique 5* deluxe hotel in heart of Rome, but hidden from crowded tourists' paths. Just next door to nice shopping area and several steps from Villa Borghese. The hotel has it's own nice peaceful garden with lemon and orange trees, birds singing around: a perfect spote to relax and enjoy tranquility in the middle of the town.
Regarding rooms: I got Excutive Deluxe room - it was really nice equipped, spacious (about 45 sq.m.) and with high quality materials in it (bed linen, bathrobes, towels, etc.). The bath amentities are brand Rocco Forte and good flavoured. Room service is twice a day.
The staff in hotel is very friendly, with personal touch to each guest (but with a bit italian style :) ).
We have tried an Art Cycling experience: it was amazing to cycle around Rome with Danilo (multi champion or IronMan competitions) and listen to the stories of Rome in early morning, when all the city still sleeps!
For food: the Restaurant in the garden gives opportunity to enjoy delicious cousine with high quality products, the breakfasts are variable and provides many kinds of fresh fruits, cheeses, ham, salmon, milk products, bakery, etc.
In view of above, I can say that De Russie is really great place to stay in Rome probably on of the best.
I hope this information will help you.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with courtyard view - it's really nice to enjoy the garden from the window

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Rome. Ideally situated for all the sights and the shops. The room/suite was very good although quite small in relation to the price! however I think it's common in most European cities that hotel rooms tend to be on the smaller side. The Restraunt is beautiful!! We ate outside for breakfast and lunch/dinner if we weren't eating out. The food was of the highest quality. My husband still dreams about the pumpkin ravioli! The Grey Goose bar in the court yard was wonderful. It's a while since we stayed there and we would return if ever in Rome again. It is very expensive but definitely worth it!

Room Tip: I didn't try the spa, I pressed the rating by accident!

We've stayed there before and had a really good past experience, so I really didn't have bad expectations. Yet, I must say that I am not easy to please plus this particular weekend was busy and hard to handle by the hotel staff, with all the events taking place in the city in the same time. The fact that their street was blocked for traffic by the Rome marathon didn't help either.
Despite all this, the staff was excellent. The transfer driver was visible at the airport and he behaved very well during the 45 min trip, even offered to take a more scenic route, a nice touch I'd say. The check-in was smooth and the smiling staff helpful, together with a kind and knowledgeable tour of the hotel and the room by the guest service agent. Bell staff prompt and discrete, Concierge took his time with us, gave expert and kind advice and reminded us promptly and in time of all dinner or lunch reservations made by them in advance of the trip.
The bar staff spotless although that place is always busy with the who's who in the city, celebrities and socialites. It made no difference to them we were just a couple of tourists not really knowing our way around. They've served us with the same deference as they would their regulars.
Doorman kindly organized taxis in time and generally made it easy to get to places, the check-out was smooth and hassle free. All in all staff was perfect!
The room was always cleaned well and in time, well appointed and rightly furnished. Everything was in working order and the size of the room and the bed generous enough.
The breakfast buffet was decent, the breakfast restaurant charming and the staff efficient and kind.
A true 5 star place I'd say! I will definitely be delighted to stay there again.

Room Tip: Get the deluxe superior double rooms as they tend to be larger but not prohibited by price

Great location and charming rooms. The courtyard was lovely to sit and have cocktails. The lemon tree were stunning! The linens were 5 star along with the staff. Expensive--yes, worth it--yes!! I did not have any meals there so I cannot comment of the food. Our room have double doors that opened overlooking the courtyard.

The location is perfect. You will find yourself near all the main tourist attractions. The hotel structure is great. People are friendly all the time and do their best to make you feel good.
When it comes to breakfast, it is just ok. For a U$ 50.00 breakfast you would expect at least eggs. The room where breakfast is served is amazing. Heavy silverware, the finest linens, but ... they don't even have a toast ... no bread selection ... no hot meals ...
The room is outdated. We were without hot water for 1 1 /2 day.
Overall it is a good place. But, it is overpriced. You can have a better experience for less money.

We stayed in connecting Deluxe double rooms, with 2 children. The hotel is in a great location, beautifully decorated and has calm and relaxed feel to it, which after spending the day sight seeing is just what is required. The staff are amazing and went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. A special thanks must go to the concierge team, who were brilliant at arranging restaurant bookings and prepaid tickets for the Colosseum etc. We only had breakfast in the hotel, which was lovely. The rooms were large, well laid out, housekeeping were excellent with a good turndown service in the evening. Amazingly for a hotel so centrally located the rooms were very quiet. The only downside and the reason it doesn't get an outstanding rating was the bed in one of the rooms was very very hard, we did request a mattress topper, but I don't think they had one, luckily the other room had a slightly softer bed so the children had the harder bed! Also there is no free wifi in the rooms, which I found odd. If we visit Rome again we'll definitely stay at Hotel de Russie again.

I don't know what's write her other than if and when I go back to Rome, I will only stay at the Russie. It is a great hotel. Very charming courtyard, 5 star rooms, top notch service, great food and scene, and yes it is priced that way, in my opinion well worth it.
