As all other Rocco Forte properties, this one is also great. Location is perfect, nearby Spanish steps and shopping area. Rooms were nice and staff is well trained. Garden area for drinks or breakfast is beautiful. Overall, a great property for a romantic or a business trip to Rome.

We visited this hotel while on a business trip and found the staff to be very accommodating and the facilities beautiful. Our first visit to Rome You will see lots of tourists and congestion on Rome But this is a great place to stay if you want to pay the price.

For me the main problem with the hotel are the rooms with the courtyard /garden view facing north and this is disturbing when you're supposed to be in a meridional sunny city like Rome. Also the hotel does not occupy the building just opposite the courtyard and one can see office activity through the windows and people smoking on their terraces during breaks. The high price does not translate into the size, most rooms on offer are on the small side, especially the ones facing south on Via Margutta. On a positive note the service is quite professional and the staff especially attentive.

Room Tip: If you want a sunny room ask for the 4th and the non smoking 5th floor at the very end, overlooking...

We were very pleased with this hotel and its location. We experienced a very warm welcome on arrival, which was nice. We had a huge room with a balcony on the sixth floor, having been upgraded. The room seemed very quiet, and we didn't experience any noise from the street. It was nice to be able to walk out on the balcony and see the Piazza del Popolo from there.
We found the service was excellent, and very helpful when it came to booking guides, or asking advice. Nothing was too much trouble. We thought the location was excellent, with the added advantage of having a taxi rank on the doorstep.
I hesitate to mention a downside, but we ate dinner at the hotel twice during our stay and found the food to be indifferent. The light lunches in the bar were no better, although it was fine for a drink or a cup of tea. The gardens make a lovely setting, but it is a pity that the food does not live up to expectations. Apart from the disappointing food I would have rated the hotel 5 out of 5.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are probably quieter. We were on the sixth floor and found it very quiet.

If you are looking for class and elegance in Rome this is the hotel. The location is great! Don't be put off by the stark facade which in turn opens up to one of the most magical gardens which can be enjoyed while having breakfast lunch or drinks- all of which we did. Nello in the restaurant was delightful and went out of his way to make sure my child was happy with everything. We had a snafu during check in, in that the type of room we reserved was not available upon our arrival, but when we brought this to the hotel's attention they offered to move us the next night when they had availability and we were given a very nice upgrade to a delightful suite which more than made up for any inconvenience. Do be aware they charge extra for rollaways for kids. The spa/ hot tub area was also a plus and my daughter loved it after a long day of sightseeing. I have tried three other luxury hotels in Rome and the Russie ranks above the rest. We would definitely return.

Living in Rome, I walked by The Hotel de Russie almost daily. The Hotel de Russie is a luxury five-star hotel located in the heart of Rome between the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo on the Via del Babuino. The location, close to the Northern Gates of Ancient Rome, is within easy walking distance of most of Rome’s attractions… but far enough away to avoid the the crowds and noise at the Pantheon or Trevi Fountain hotels.

The Hotel de Russie has a clean, modern styling… which is not what you expect when you walk in from the streets of Rome and beyond the rather plain facade of the hotel. I’ve been there often and have always been impressed by the tranquil, almost serene feeling you get entering this hotel. It’s so quiet you forget you’re in a bustling city of 3 million people. It’s the perfect “in-Rome” get-away. When you’re in the hallways, it’s like you own a palazzo! Service at the hotel is prompt and professional. The concierge staff is polite, and very accommodating.

I was able to recently visit The Hotel de Russie and spend time with Giusy Guarracino, Sales Manager at Rocco Forte Collections. With Giusy as my guide, we were able to do an extensive, “behind the scenes” tour of the grounds.

My favorite feature of The Hotel de Russie has always been the secret garden and Le Jardin de Russie restaurant. Known as the “secret garden” because it’s hidden from the busy Via del Babuino, this extensive, terraced garden is a calm oasis in chaotic Rome. Soft lighting completes the beauty of the garden, which hosts the Stravinskij Bar in the spring and summer. A great place for dinner, but also for a caffe’ or appertivo!

For a break from walking the streets of Rome, the hotel also has one of Rome’s best health clubs and spa offering a hydropool, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish steam bath, beauty treatments and gym.

Giusy took me into several rooms and there at least eight room categories available. They include:

Double Deluxe Room – Size: 40 sq m (432 sq ft)
Superior Deluxe Room – Room Size: 45 sq m (486 sq ft)
Junior Suite – Room Size: 55 sq m (594 sq ft).
Classic Suite – Room Size: 60-65 sq m (700 sq ft).
Executive Suite – Room Size: 65-70 sq m (753 sq ft).
Vaselli Suite – Room Size: 53 sq m (572 sq ft).
Popolo Suite – Room Size: 50 sq m (540 sq ft).
Picasso Suite – Room Size: 80 sq m (864 sq ft).

The Superior Deluxe Rooms feature a small sitting area. The Junior Suite might be best if you have children, as it has an open plan. Executive Suites all feature Secret Garden Views and some even have a second toilet.

The Vaselli Suite features a small private terrace. The Popolo Suite which is located on the top, 6th floor with great views of the rooftops of Rome and Piazza del Popolo, also features a terrace – and this terrace is about twice the size of the Vaselli Suite terrace.

The Picasso Suite is the Presidential Suite, also on the 6th floor, features a stylish mosaic bathroom, a guest toilet, a study area, and a private terrace with seating.

Bang and Olufsen televisions are in the Junior Suite, Classic Suite, Executive Suite, Vaselli Suite, Popolo Suite and Picasso Suite rooms.

The The Hotel de Russie is beautiful and decorated in a very elegant, traditional Italian style. The “secret garden” is an excellent sanctuary after spending a busy day touring Rome.

I would suggest a room as high up, far back, and facing the garden (The bar and restaurant are open late). Or if you like city views, opt for a room with a private terrace and enjoy your “private space” overlooking the rooftops of Rome!

The Hotel de Russie – because of the service, the food, the concierge staff, the rooms, and the Virtuoso Amenities – is one of my favorite hotels in Rome. If you stay here, it will also become one of your favorites!

The De Russie exudes luxury. Its rooms are comfortable, warm, and cheerful.Behind a facade that is deceptively plain, there lies a charming beautifully designed and appointed building (Rome abounds with buildings that look drab to doubtful from the outside and delightfully surprise on entry). The interior garden, which serves as both the focus of dining and a lingering libation, is just lovely. The staff is helpful, especially those who attend the concierge desk. The location is wonderful, When in Rome, you can do no better than the De Russie.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the interior garden are a delight
