This was the first stop on our Italian tour, we booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations and Expedia. Booked early so got a good price. Stayed for 3 nights and found the room to be excellent, small but that's expected, but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very nice. Bed was very comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't sure what to expect. Breakfast was very good, and I got used to the freshly brewed coffee and separate pot of steamed milk. So good. Free wi-fi was great. I found the staff to be "professional" and helpful. Ask what you need and they will get it for you, I wouldn't say they were overly friendly per say as they always seemed to be rather busy doing something behind the counter, but they always answered our questions in an efficient manner. Diner recommendations were spot on, you must try Gusto Pinto around the corner. Great service and food. The location for us was great. We like walking and you could get to almost anywhere from the hotel. We even took the subway back from the Vatican which was easy and saved on the feet. You can buy a ticket for the on and off bus tour at the hotel which was great for us. Hop off when you see something interesting and hop on the next bus when it's convenient.

All in all I would highly recommend the hotel for its amenities and location. I appreciated that it was off the main drag as it was very quiet and after some very long days, a nice quiet sleep was required.

We came to Rome for the first time ever for the bank holiday weekend. Check-in at the hotel was smooth and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the main attractions and other than one day when it poured with rain this was no trouble at all.

Breakfast was lovely - a wide selection and the tea actually tasted of tea which you don't always get in hotels abroad!

The room (and the rest of the hotel) was spotless and housekeeping changed our towels daily. I wanted an extra pillow and we asked our way in from dinner at half 11 fully expecting housekeeping to bring one the next day - it arrived almost as soon as we got back to our room which I thought was very good service.

Overall it was a good value hotel with lovely service and I would definitely recommend.

The only point for improvement is that reception could have mentioned the Rome city tax when we checked in, we'd not seen the sign on the reception desk so it would have helped to have this pointed out at the start of the stay - it wasn't very expensive though so no problem really.

We stayed in Londra & Cargill for 4 nights. It is just 1 km. from the main train station Termini which is a nice walk. It is also on walking distance from the city centre and main attractions. Also very close to Vila Borgeshe. Nice rooms and a good breakfast. There are some nice small restaurants in the direct neighborhood.

Great Hotel, which was all part of a secret trip to Rome planned by my wife and freinds for my 50th Birthday.
Told about this surprise trip 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening, then before i know it, im waiting in the departure lounge at Newcastle Airport 4.30am the next morning.
Good flight, pre-booked taxi from the airport, which drove through the centre of Rome giving us our first glimpse of the sights. Then arriving at the door of the Hotel Londra & Cargill.
When we entered the main doors to the recpetion desk, another surprise was waiting for us down near the bar, two of our good freinds, also travelled to join us for the 3 night break and share in my Birthday treats!
The Hotel itself was excellent. Very attentitive and gave recommendations for good restaurants both nearby and in the city centre. The Hotel itself is ever so slightly out of the centre, but taxi's were reasonable in visiting most of the attractions.
The buffet breakfast was very good, with plenty of options to keep you going through the day.
The rooms themselves were very pleasant, roomy, with beds made up each morning.
Only two negatives i could give (if forced!) was it would have been nice to have had a roof terrace or outside eating area, and secondly, it would have been a nice touch to have the complimentary still water replaced each day.
Would definatley recommend, great Hotel for a Rome visit.

Room Tip: We had floor 4 and our freinds had floor 3, both good rooms. Ask, reception about recommended resta...

Nice enough building and rooms. We even got checked into our room early which was really nice. The death blow came when my wife ask for some simple information on using the bus system (which we did figure out by ourselves - it was route 75) at the front desk and was told just to walk! I am living with a failed knee replacement so often extra walking is a limiting factor.
The man at the front desk should find a new vocation if he can't offer simple information when ask by a guest be it a 1 star or 5 star hotel. In the US we would call that person a "bad fit for their job" Total lack of respect and professionalism.

Room Tip: Many better choices in Rome

This is a wonderful hotel and, at the price we paid on Expedia, an absolute bargain.
All the staff have been very helpful, pleasant and efficient.
The hotel is furnished in a more traditional style. The furnishings are of very good quality. Our bathroom is excellent with a full bath.We have stayed in a number of five stars with furnishings certainly no better than here.
Breakfast is a good continental breakfast. The wifi, which we had included in the price, is fast and reliable.
As elsewhere noted, the hotel is walking distance for those who like to walk from a lot of attractions. Like Dan H, we were also advised by the desk to walk to the attractions and thought it was excellent advice. We certainly saw a lot more of Rome.We made the Colosseum in 45 minutes and the Trevi in about 20 minutes even though my wife is on a walking stick at the moment and so moving rather slowly.
It is also easy walking distance from Roma Termini- less than a kilometre and we walked it. However, dragging bags across cobblestones and trying to cross Roman roads pulling bags is no fun whatsoever. Next time, we would catch a taxi and give the driver a big tip for taking such a short fare.
We absolutely recommend this hotel.
