“bad so so GOOD excellent”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

A solid "good" rating on my Italian hotel scale. Small, clean and nice decor. Reception desk usually busy, business like, don't like to get friendly, so expect short answers to questions and don't get too conversational or you will experience some rudeness, which is typical interaction in many Italian big city, high tourist traffic hotels and restaurants.. Excellent breakfast. Good location, very walkable to Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

This hotel is in great location, steps from Pza. Barbarini, tons of busses and metro. Hotel was recently renovated and at first seems great, but in fact the room renovations are of poor quality. Think all Ikea furniture. Of 8 lights in our room, 4 were broken. We were 4 people (adults + 2 tweens) and there was enough space for us and our massive luggage. Bathroom is quite nice, but to sit on commode, your knees touch the sink. Beds are comfy.
Room faced the main street - street noise didn't bother us, but slamming doors in the middle of the night were quite loud.
Full and spacious shower and bathtub - we were on 2nd floor and water pressure was excellent. B'fast was nothing great, but free is always good --- croissants, pressed ham and cheese, capuccino, vat of scrambled eggs, yogurt. No fruit :(.
People were great, helpful, funny. Although we liked it, it is not a 4star hotel, as claimed. Be careful of the number of starts -- the mandatory Rome City tax (always paid in CASH) is lower for 1-3 stars, and higher for 4-star.
As for clean factor -- bathroom glass had lipstick and bathroom floor had long hair on it.

I stayed with my wife and baby daughter in this hotel for our first ever trip to Rome. We did not exactly get off to a welcoming start when i was informed that since one of the hotel floors was having water supply issues, we were being shifted to another hotel! Well....thank you but whatever happened to the good old way of informing beforehand? Anyways, after stressing that this is not being appreciated at all, we were finally accomodated in the same hotel. The front desk was generally quite helpful, esp Alizeh and the bellboy too. There was this one tall gentleman at the front desk who proabably needs to learn a thing or two from his younger colleagues in client management. Anyways, we were given a room on the second floor and i did not see any lift/elevator-so quite some task carrying the baby stroller to and fro every time we were to go out.

Rooms were modernly furnished-small by most standards but perhaps OK by European standards. Bedding was generally ok. Breakfast was nothing to much write home about but adequate and would feed most mouths as far as i could tell.

Location is perhaps the biggest/sole advantage of this hotel. Practically a few steps from Piazza Barberini (which as some fellow traveller has rightly mentioned, every taxi driver knows) and 7-minute easy stroll to the fascinating Trevi fountain as well as a 10m walk to the Spanish Steps. Taxis are easily available from Piazza Barberini and to every other major attraction that we went to via taxi (Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Colesseum), i did not have to pay more than Euro 5-7 per trip. Vatican is some distance off from the historic part of the city and costs about Euro 30 if i recall correctly.

Will probably try a few other hotels near this one next time since location cannot be beat....did i mention location? :-)

Room Tip: There appears to be no lift in the hotel, ask for rooms on first floor if possible.

My daughter and I went for a 4 day trip to Rome and we booked this hotel because the price was very attractive for a 4-star hotel in the city centre of Rome. We had a very pleasant stay in a totally renovated hotel with well furnished rooms equipped with air conditioning, refrigerator and noise isolation. The room wasn't big but we had enough space for two persons. Also the bathroom is rather small but still not too small. The location of the hotel is great, just around the corner of Piazza Barberini and at walking distance of all major sights in Rome.

We will certainly come back to this hotel in the future!!

This hotel is brand spanking NEW. I was scared when my travel agent booked us there after reading the reviews from last year. He assured us that the place is new. He was correct. The place is spotless. This hotels decor is contemporary chic. More like the boutique hotels I have stayed at in NYC or Washington DC. Every modern convienience was put in. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms new and clean. My room overlooked the Palazzo Barberini out one window and the Vatican out the other. The staff was also very friendly and extremely helpful at our every need. Example of the staff going over and above thier job: My 17yo sons girlfriend arrived in Rome on a school trip the same week. He didn't know where they were staying or how to get in touch with her. We gave the staff the little information we had, and after several hours of detective work they were able to locate her group and put us in contact with her. OMG amazing ....NO other hotel would have done that. My friends wouldn't have done that. It is obvious that the people in charge of this hotel took seriously the need to overhaul. That they did. I will return to this hotel next year. I give this hotel my highest positive rating. Tony from New Jersey

We stayed here as our first stop for our honeymoon and it was a very nice experience. The rooms were fairly contemporary and clean, with a very modern and nice bathroom. The free breakfast every day was enjoyable, they have a cappucino machine for self-serve, eggs, and the usual Italian breakfast foods. The only bad thing was there was no free wi-fi, and cost $2euros for 5 hours or something. It was really close to the subway and train stations, easy to get to the major attractions. Noisy if you leave the window open in the mornings, but overall quite nice for an European hotel.

Room Tip: Book through a travel agent for a wholesale price

Some very expensive cosmetics were stolen from my room. Hotel staff dismissed it as it was not jewelry and was not in the safe. Who keeps their cosmetics in the safe?
Breakfast really poor. Stale bread and few options.
