“Good Location .. but”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2011

My wife and I stayed at this place recently and here are our opinions.
Rooms - too small , am surprised at how many can be fitted in a floor
But the rooms had new decor with marble flooring, excellent bathroom and flat screen tv. Bed was a bit small for my height (6.2)
Staff - Very friendly and hard working especially during mad rush @ b/fast
Location - Walking distance to Barbarini station , trevi fountain..

Beware , this hotel seem to be favorite among the tour groups hence it gets crowded and its a fight @ b/fast table.

Overall, its good value.

We stayed at Anglo Americano for one week.
The room was quite big, and nice.
It's next to Barberini square but it's quiet and no noice from the street come up to the room.
You can walk to city center without taking the metro, it's very near to spanish steps.
Breakfast room is a little small, so one day we had to wait for a table to sit.
I think after the reconstruction is a little bit expensive ( we've been there in the past one more time).

Room Tip: the rooms with view in the back (palazzo barberini) are quite and have better view.

I spent three nights with my family at Hotel Anglo Americano in July 2011. We had a family room on the top floor. This was not a standard room with two extra beds crammed in, but looked like it had actually been planned as a family room with four beds. The room was of a reasonable size.

All in all the hotel was ok, but rather a standard mid-quality hotel. Breakfast was a bit below average. Breakfast in Italy is never a big thing, but plasic glasses, things constantly missing on the not too good buffet and a breakfast room so packed that you often had to queue for a table did not help.

We arrived on a Saturday, and the electronic key system had broken down, so we could not get our own key until Monday. Every time we wanted to enter our room, we had to be followed up by someone to open the door for us. A bit inconvenient, but something that the hotel could not help.

Except for the breakfast room, service was generally good, the only exception being a elderly, male receptionist who reminded my of the principal in my old school and made me fell a bit nervous...

The location of this hotel is very good; in the center and quiet.
However, it is bad in any other possible aspect:
- The bathroom is small, no bath (in an ordinary room), no place to shelve stuff, the water at the shower always overflows.
- The breakfast room is too smal; no matter when you come in, it is crouded and noisy; no service at all, tables are not clean; the variety and quality of food is limited, not clean, coffie is not served to the tables so you have to go and wait at the coffie machine.
- In the rooms there is no single piece of paper, pen, brochure, phone directory - absolutely nothing!
In summary, it is absolutely not what you expect to get in a 4-star hotel - even not in a 3-star hotel...

Room Tip: not in this hotel...

I was in Rome for a friends wedding, booked this hotel at the last minute but was really pleased with the hotel. The room was really clean and tastefully decorated, not huge but typical size for Rome. Staff were good too, they kindly pressed my posh frock for no charge.

Stayed for four nights in July. Nice clean hotel with decent rooms. The best part of the hotel is the location. You can walk to many of the major attractions in Rome. We are a family of four and our room was big enough to move around in. Bathroom was not huge but spacious enough. The service was good. We would probably stay here again.

Anywhere down town Rome is busy busy busy. Either way, this hotel has an ok continental breakfast (Complimentary), the rooms are decent, and the tv has a couple of English channels.
