“Our stay at Hotel Gabriella”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We stayed at this hotel in June of 2014. Our experience there is mostly positive. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They understood English enough that we were able to ask questions or get help in navigating this wonderful city. The subway was just around the corner and about 3 blocks, very close. The room was always clean, a little tight, but I think normal for a moderate priced hotel. There are several cafés on the street, and very good, the breakfast in the morning was pretty good, after our stay in Paris with eggs and breakfast meats, it didn't quite match that, but it was good enough to give us a good start for our day. If I had to give any negative, and I think this is typical for this priced hotel, the air conditioning during the hottest part of the day was not as good as we would have liked, it was very hot while we were there, and after a morning and early tour in the afternoon we might stop in and try to cool off before dinner, and the room air conditioner just didn't achieve the goal. If someone asked me if I would stay here again? My answer would be yes, because of it location, and it's wonderful staff

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful 5 night stay at Hotel Gabriella. Granted, the accommodations are very basic, and the building is old, however from what we've seen and heard, if you want to stay close to the important sites in ancient Rome, this is par for the course. On the down side, we had to ask for help to get our air conditioning and TV to work, and our phone didn't work at all. However, what really excelled about our visit was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They gave directions, helped us make phone calls from the front desk, and even translated over the phone to help get us tickets for an opera and ballet program nearby. Breakfast was nice, with fresh pastries and fruit, and assorted lunch meats and cheeses. They even will make you a capuccino on request. The fantastic location for subway transit and an abundance of great sidewalk cafes very close by make this place all in all a good choice. We would stay there again!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Gabriella in February for 4 nights on a B&B basis. I read a lot of reviews on here that I can never believe or understand. So here is a simple review of this hotel from an English couple staying in Rome for the first time.
Location: Amazing, two minutes walk from the Termini, where the two metro lines meet and trains in and out of Rome depart and arrive. Set on a quiet street so not kept up all night by city noise. You can even walk to most of the city's main attractions.
Room: The room was clean, and had all the facilities we needed. The hotel is a little dated, ie it's not modern and stylish. But neither are most hotels in Rome. But the beds were comfy, the rooms were sound proofed, so lovely and quiet, and the en-suites were fine. There is also a safe, which you leave a five euro deposit for. The staff in the hotel were very friendly, and always helped us whenever we needed advice. They all speak good English. The breakfast had a few oddities in it. But we were always well fed for the day, because you can eat as much as you like and they will make you hot drinks or bring you whatever you ask within reason.
Value: If you are wanting to push the boat out, an have a luxury break in Rome, this hotel is not for you. But, if you are looking for a hotel with a perfect location in Rome, a comfortable, quiet room close to everything you need at a good price then the Gabriella Hotel is the one for you. We would recommend it to anyone. If you have booked this already, you are in for a great holiday.

I picked this hotel based on location. Very close to the Termini Station so easy to get around Rome. The room was clean & comfortable. However on the 2nd night our air conditioning had been turned down so the room was really warm. The windows need to be sound proofed as we could hear the traffic from outside at all times. Based on the price & location the hotel wasn't too bad.

We found our 3 night stay at Hotel Gabriella to be satisfactory. On the positive side, we liked the location of the hotel very much. It is only a few minutes' walk from termini, the main train and subway station, so that was extremely convenient. It is also walking distance from National Museum of Rome and some other minor attractions. The restaurants right around the hotel were great! I found the area around the hotel to be very safe and we walked around late into the night.

The decor of our room was very charming and we loved the shutter windows opening out to the road. Like most Italian hotels, our double bed was two beds pushed together. I will echo other reviewers who said the room smelled like sewage. I really don't know what the issue was but the bathroom smelled terrible. We kept the door to the bathroom shut all the time to keep the smell out of the room. We did not pay the extra for breakfast. Overall, a perfectly adequate hotel with some flaws in a very good location.
