“Great accommodation in a great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

We stayed in Relais Teatro Argentina for 3 nights and couldn't recommend it more highly. The location is great, really central and only a 25 minute walk to Colosseum and about 5/10 minutes from Pantheon, with delicious restaurants really close by.

Our room - Verde - was really spacious with a really powerful shower and comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and served in our room when we were ready (there is an option to eat on the pretty balcony but due to wet weather we opted to eat in our room.)

Our hosts were increadibly welcoming and really helpful, providing recommendations of sights to visit and restaurants to try. They also kindly helped us book tickets to some attractions.

While in Rome i'd recommend buying the Roma Pass if you're there for a few days and want to visit some of the key sites - it gives free/reduced entry, queue jumping option and free travel on bus & metro. We ate at Rosciolo (Via dei Giubbonari) very closeby to the hotel which was delicious - a deli/winebar restaurant (booking recommended); also Pesci Fritti (via di grotta pinta 8), again delicious and far more wide ranging than the name may suggest! We also had the most delicious pizza at a local pizzeria just over the river in Trastevere, nicknamed The Marbles due to the marble topped tables.

Room Tip: We stayed in Verde which was really big and spacious. Good double glazing so no noise from the stree...

A lovely "hotel" in the heart of the city in easy walking distance t some of the best areas. Just 8 rooms (ours was huge by European hotel standards), very quiet and clean and a super comfortable bed. Paolo and Carlotta had lots of great tips for "back door" experiences that weren't even in Rick's guidebook. Tomas was very attentive at the generous breakfast, either in our room or on the terrace. An amazing value in the off season. Note that this is a walk-up on the second floor (third if you count the ground floor as 1).

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Relais Teatro Argentina. The staff was extremely gracious and helpful, and the location was excellent. Breakfast on the terrace was very enjoyable. If you're looking for a full service hotel this may not be for you; because of its small size there was no staff available starting mid to late afternoon. This was not really a problem for us and the charm and location made it the right choice.

Loved the location - we walked EVERYWHERE - all the way from Vatican to Colloseum. Paolo was a gracious host, and Tomas tended fabulously to our every need. Nice breakfast on the little terrace. The room was huge and bed very comfy. A bottle of wine was waiting for us (it was our 10 year anniversary). Would definitely stay here again!! Paolo arranged a driver to take us back to the airport, it was great!

We stayed at the wonderful little B&B based on reviews on this site and they were "right on." This is a very small and cozy spot that couldn't be more conveniently located, being within easy walking distance of all the major sites. Our arrival was very humorous as our driver struggled to figure out how to get to the door of the hotel. It is on a very narrow side street surrounded by one-ways and while the driver knew exactly where it was, it took a number of try's to actually arrive at the front door. If you arrive by taxi, be sure you are not on the meter!

Our room was at the rear and faced the terrace. Noise was not an issue, either inside or out. The room was very spacious, well furnished and clean. The bathroom was modern and also very clean. A nice continental breakfast (breads, cereals and yogurt) is served at a time you request, either in your room or on the terrace. As mentioned, breakfast is not available until after 8, so you may need to take a walk for an early cup of coffee.

Restaurant recommendations from the host were exactly what we were looking for...spots not frequented by tourists. We had dinner at Pesci Fritti, a small seafood spot 3 blocks from the hotel, and were the only English speakers in the house (besides the waiter). Dinner was great.

If I return to Rome, I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend it for a touring base in the city.

Room Tip: Our room facing the terrace was very quiet.

We stayed here 4 nights and were happy with our choice. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The dual-glazed windows were quite effective at shutting out the noise of the city. Of course it couldn't block out the noise from the restaurant below and also from the neighbors, but that wasn't too bad. We liked the general cozy feel of the place. It is very conveniently located near buses and the taxi stand. We were able to walk to most of the major sights, but chose to take the taxi to the Borghese Gallery and the Vatican Museum. Since the hotel doesn't serve breakfast until after 8, most mornings we walked over to Cafffe Camerino and grabbed a couple of cafes and pastries for about 6 euro total.

Our stay at this charming 6 room boutique hotel in Rome last week was absolutely delightful! Our room was spacious, elegantly appointed, and very quite despite the fact that we were steps away from one of the most popular Piazza's in Rome, Campo de Fiori, Thomas and his lovely wife went out of their way to make sure that our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed ... including breakfast served in our room or on the lovely little terrace. The location was ideal ... walking distance to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Vatican, and of course all of the great places to eat in the Piazza. We also loved being right next door to the Teatro Argentina! Bottom line, this was a wonderful retreat to return to after a long day of sightseeing! We can not wait to return to our new friends and our "home away from home" in Rome. Bob and Bobbie from Washington DC
