“Good location”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

This hotel is a good location to stay so that you can easily hope on metro to get to sites you desire to see. The internet was spotty in the evenings which hinder my work productivity, but I was able to complete my work. However! it just took me quite a bit longer to complete. We got a double and two singles were put together without actually placing them together so when we laid on the bed the beds separated. We didn't say anything cause we were just glad to have a place to lay our heads.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and the staff working the breakfast area was friendly and helpful.

A great place to stay that isn't right in the middle of the city, which can be nice to get a break from every once in a while. The Hotel Staff is efficient, though not always the nicest - but things could be worse. Our room was well equipped with a sizable bed and wardrobe, TV, fridge, and AC. The bathroom was clean and our room was always cleaned and tidied up everyday. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper since you can hear people in the hallway and doors shutting.
Breakfast was basic, but good.
Great restaurants and Gelato/Pizza spots all within the block. We stumbled upon a little grocery/diner place along the street that had a fresh new meal every day.
All City locations are within walking distance, about 15 min or so depending where you want to go.Termini station isn't too far of walk either - though we didn't feel too comfortable walking back at night.
Good value for price.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Second level can hear the restaurants and musicians at night, but we didn't mind th...

This is a good place to stay for city break. The location is convenient, walking distance to many city attractions, great neighborhood with many restaurants around and Termini station in near by if you need bus or metro transfer to somewhere. We payed for a small room for two persons but we got double room which was big enough and clean. The breakfast was basic but good.

Stayed here with a school group during Easter break, my room was comfortable and clean. Only thing is you can hear people in hallway. Great location walking distance to lots of sights. Staff was helpful and courteous! Next door is pinsere pizzeria which hands down is the the best pizza in rome- good value - I would come back

With only one night to spend in Rome I wasn't expecting much from our accommodation. Having booked our 'small double' room for a great rate I wasn't going to get my hopes up.

However, the Hotel Medici is the perfect hotel for a short stay in Rome. The room isn't massive but it's by mean small. A large bed, wardrobe, desk and side tables give ample storage with plenty of room left over. The generously sized bathroom has been decorated to a high standard with beautiful tiling.

In terms of location the Hotel Medici is perfect. A short walk from Repubblica station makes the sights of Rome a short metro ride away. The neighbourhood around the hotel is great. Plenty of good restaurants are on the doorstep (and best of all they won't break the bank).

If you are thinking of driving in Rome then beware the 'ZTL'. Essentially it's an area in the centre of Rome where traffic is banned unless you have pre-approved permission from the police. The Hotel Medici is on the border of the ZTL so, depending on what route you take, you may fall foul. The hotel can arrange parking for you but I overheard one couple being charged 35 Euros for the privilege.

Instead, consider parking at one of the ATAC car parks situated near Metro Stations. The price is a fraction of the cost (5 euros for 24 hours). We decided to park at Capri station near the Vatican and then get the metro to Repubblica. There is a car park at Termini station but it looked far less organised than Capri (a word of warning - there was broken car window glass on the floor at both car parks - a clear indication that thefts do occur - it didn't affect us and both car parks are still popular places to park)

Some good points include:
1. Really fast, free WiFi throughout the hotel.
2. Minibar / fridge in the room
3. A lovely outdoor patio area at the back of the hotel
4. A good sized breakfast buffet included in the nightly rate

The hotel staff weren't the friendliest I've met in Italy but were efficient and polite.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

She made my stay much more memorable! Rooms were compact but very nice and clean. Central location was great - walking distance to everything and great restaurants nearby. I thought the breakfast was great and was pleasantly surprised to have a safe in my room. Safe area even at night which was important because I was travelling alone. Thanks!

The hotel is some sort of classical 3 stars in its best meaning. The hotel has nice reception area, with waiting room and little terrace outdoor. The breakfast room is on -1 floor and its kind of not spacious enough at the peak time between 8.30 and 9.30. Our triple room was just great. No comments on it.

The place is located in a very decent area, not too noisy. If you want to eat nearby, go to Rossopomodoro, hidden on one of the corners on nearby Piazzale di Porta Pia.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Medici Hotel is the perfect hotel for visiting Rome: the building is close some of the major monuments of downtown, about 10-15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, the Quirinal Palace, Villa Borghese and Via Veneto, the street well known for Fellini's movie "La dolce vita", symbol of "the sweet life" of stars and jet set personalities. The hotel is also close to Termini Station, then thanks to the Metro and public transport it is easily to reach anywhere else in Rome. The Medici Hotel offers to guests large and comfortable living rooms: the TV room, a comfortable meeting room for 8-10 people, the breakfast room where breakfast is served as a rich buffet breakfast (during the summer months it is possible to have breakfast in our beautiful outdoor garden). The rooms have every comfort (Wifi, Safety Deposit Box, Telephone, Air Conditioning, Laundry Service, Tv, Mini Bar, Room Service, Private Bathroom). The Medici Hotel is located within the Aurelian Walls, near the The Gardens of Sallust, a significant archaeological site: for this reason inside the hotel are visible some Roman remains found during the renovation works at the beginning of twentieth century. The area is lively and well served by bars, restaurants, pizzerias and shops during the day, it is quiet and peaceful at night. ... more   less
