“Non efficient sercice, good food, still recommend for dinner”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

Its started bad. First we arrived at 18:30 and we realize that this restaurant start on 19:00. It's common in Italy.
We decided to skip and go elsewhere and come back day later.
The restaurant is outside sitting and great potential.we arrived and we were lead to the table.  Table beside us were smoking and we ask the guys to replace the table. Funny thing, they really didn't know what to do and become confused.  Last, they did change the table after a while.  After we set down,  we wait almost 25 minutes for service, and i was become angry.  Big restaurant with  no real management, and alloof ignoring costumers.
The Italian guys is so nice so we forgive them.
We decided to go against the prediction reaction, and we gave them a chance. From this stage,  we order bottle of wine.  Six euro,  big dishes, all where ok,  and the atmosphere become great. We ordered 5 dishes, wine, 2 large water,  3 deserts and pay decent price of  56 euro......
Forgive you guys, but truely you must change the method and logistic and efficient service.

“Wont return”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

I went there because I am staying at a nearby hotel and read the reviews.I would never return. I ordered a caprese, tomato and mozzarella dish...terrible..the tomato was nearly white and hard as a rock...left most of that on the table. Made a mistake and ordered bruschetta which also contains tomato...same thing. Had swordfish...it arrived as a 1/8 inch slice, dry, and with a fishy smell that Ive never had with swordfish in Italy. The servers were friendly, but took the order, delivered , and never returned to check. A side dish I ordered was not ever delivered to the table, but it was included in the bill, and I was charged twice for bread. Honest mistakes, no doubt...they were busy so these things happen. Yes there are a lot of locals, but Id bet its mostly pizza. If you have only a few days in Rome, dont spend a dinner here. There are few restaurants in this area of Eur, but. short ride on the metro puts you into areas with truly good restaurants. Not sure I understand the consistenly glowing reviews...this is definitely below average for italy at the same price point.

Stayed at hotel pulitzer two minutes away from this place. Took our mom for her birthday and we had a lovely surprise. The food was soo good and very good priced. We had everythong we wanted =4 people = 100 ?. Lovely staff and nice honely place. We saw no turist but the place was packed with large italian families and friends. I really rekommend this restaurant. (Dont get scared of the location or the outside)

“Friendly, neighbourhood restaurant”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

Lo Convento was recommended to us by staff at our hotel (Pulitzer) as its nearby and pretty good. Its a little hairy to get to it you're walking (you basically have to walk down a slip road) but its a friendly, family oriented place with reasonably priced good food. I had the fettucini with mushrooms with roman artichoke on the side, both of which were excellent, and my wife had the fried calamari, which were frozen so a little chewy but with good flavour and the spinach with butter and parmesan, which she didn't care for but I loved!

With dessert (pannacotta) and a couple of large bottles of water it all came to around €43 which is pretty reasonable for Rome!

The only downside was the service which was 'relaxed', lets say. But that was partly because there only seemed to be 4 waiters in action for a big place that was soon packed out. And waiting to be told what was for dessert does give you plenty of time to digest your main course.

Overall, then, the food was good, the atmosphere was great and so what if it takes a little longer to get the bill. Or the bread …!
