“Very enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 29 March 2011

We were stayed here many times and written a couple of reviews. This was our third visit in last time and we had still and excelent stay. And we will back here in August again. The location of Hotel Abruzzi is great - just in front of the Pantheon and in the hearth of Rome (ideal position for everything). Room was super clean. The hotel staff is very, very friendly and helpful - very nice people /Antonio, Simone, Nicola/. Romantic breakfast in the Caffe just in front of the Pantheon has good choices - fruit, meat, cheese, bread, scrambled eggs, dolci, tortes, youghurt, cereals... They make very good italiano cappuccino. We higly recommend . We love Rome and Hotel Abruzzi, too.

If you are new to Rome, this is a great place to stay - within reasonable walking distance of many of the main attractions. However, you will need comfortable walking shoes to cope with the many narrow and cobbled streets. There are more places to eat and drink in the immediate neighbourhood than you are likely to visit in any single holiday in Rome. Most have outside dining - with heaters - and we only ate one meal inside during our 4 day stay.
Rooms are as the guide book will tell you (Berlitz Pocket Guide). If you book on-line, the hotel will organise a taxi in from the airport - reasonably expensive (like everything in Rome) but well worth the hassle free trip. If/when we return to Rome we will stay at Abruzzi again.

My wife and I spent eight nights of our honeymoon in Hotel Abruzzi, the experience was wonderful.
LOCATION: Wonderful! This was our first trip to Rome, we wanted to hit up the usual spots in ancient Rome and we were not disappointed. The hotel is actually located on the Piazza Rotunda which was recently closed to automobile traffic, so the atmosphere is extremely charming with restaurants, live music and people all around. We spent an enormous amount of time walking the city and it was always a relief to enter the Piazza Rotunda and our Hotel Abruzzi.
STAFF: Very accommodating, friendly and helpful with directions.
HOTEL ITSELF: Very, very clean and all the comforts we needed. Rooms were not huge, but we were in Rome and the idea was to stay out of our room anyway. I thought internet was cheap at an extra 10 euro for 24 hours of actual usage, could be spread out over your entire stay (4 hours on Tuesday, 2 hours on Wednesday, yada yada). Laundry service was very expensive at 6 euro for a shirt, 2 euro for socks, and so on. We used a laundromat near Piazza Barbarini (5 minute walk) for 8 euro per load, took 90 minutes total and we just had coffee and shopped.
BILLING: I booked directly through their site and got an email quoting a price and saying I "would get an additional 15% off for stays over 3 nights". But apparently that 15% off is already calculated on the price they initially quote you. I don't think they were being intentionally deceptive with that, but it was something we had a difference of opinions on. They gave me a discounted price on my final night to make things right, but it's something to confirm with them anyway.
OVERALL: This is the place I will be staying on every trip to Rome and I'll be sending my friends and family there as well! Wonderful restaurants are all around, you're five minute walk from six or seven of Ancient Rome's most historic and beautiful places. We easily walked to Spanish Steps, Coliseum, Pantheon (obviously), Plaza Novena, Trevi Fountain, Plaza Barbarini, and everything else we wanted to see. 8 euro cab ride to Vatican, 12 euro cab to Via Appia.

We really enjoyed our night at the Abruzzi. It was our first time in Rome and we found the location perfect for exploring the city. The double rooms were larger than expected but the quad suite would probably be better suited to a family with children then four adults if you are staying more than a night or two. The staff spoke great English and was helpful and friendly. If we are ever lucky enough to go back to Rome, I would certainly consider staying here again.

Just back home from a recent stay here with extended family. The hotel staff including reception, cleaning ladies and maintenance were all extremely professional and friendly. The views from the hotel room and location in centro storico is the main reason we chose to stay here (and the fact that I stayed here with friends 12 years ago!). The breakfast across the Piazza is lovely, totally comprehensive and kept all of us going each day! I would definitely return here if i am luck enough to return to Rome.

A fantastic hotel in a perfect location! To wake up and see the Pantheon outside our window was very surreal. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. A great breakfast was included at a a nearby restaurant (in the same square as the hotel and the Pantheon). Although not free, the wi-fi was fast and always had a great signal the entire time we were there. The rooms were very clean, though quite small. but thats to be expected in a European city anyway so it was not a negative. Next time I visit Rome, i will definitely be staying here again.
