This is the lowest star rating I have ever given a hotel. We could have just had an odd experience because the other reviews are glowing of this hotel. We were at the end of our two week Europe vacation & it was not a pleasant ending.

It started with reception & the man at the desk being very unpleasant & rude upon check in. He took offense to us not wanting to go upstairs with the bell hop & leave our passports with him at the front desk (which we thought was an odd request to begin with). Once that was sorted, he was never friendly to us for the remainder of the trip. In general the front desk staff was very sub par with the exception of the man that was there at check out. At times it looked painful for them to even speak to us. They were not helpful with directions, recommendations, or even getting us a taxi. We were left to "fend for ourselves".

The room was small. We could not put our suitcases anywhere without stepping in them to move around the room. The shower was even smaller. My husband, who is not a large man, could not close the shower door & then raise his arms to actually take a shower - he literally did not fit in the shower. He is 5'10 & weighs 165 pounds. We have been on cruise ships with bigger showers.

The plugs in the room did not work. We could not charge our electronics with our adapter like we had in the other 4 hotels during our European vacation. When we called the front desk they sent the bell hop. He couldn't figure it out & went to get the hotel adapter. It did not work either. His response was literally "well......" & then walked out. They did start working on our last day at the hotel. I guess magic. It became a joke in our group when we couldn't figure something out we just answered with "well..... "

Every night during our stay, I would wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. When we would go to bed the room would be cooled with A/C but for some reason in the middle of the night, around 4 in the morning, it was stifling hot in our room. It did not help that we were visiting during an unusual heat wave in Italy. It was a very uncomfortable 3 nights of sleeping.

The rest of the room was fine. King bed, good lighting, wifi worked properly. We had a great window that looked down on the street. The breakfast buffet was decent and more than adequate for a quick bite before heading out for the day. The location was good - directly behind the Pantheon & a quick walk to many of the major attractions.

Overall the hotel facilities are fine (with the exception of the shower), we just had a bad experience with the staff & felt uncomfortable at this hotel. We most definitely will not be making a return trip to Albergo Santa Chiara.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel on our trip to Italia. The hotel was clean, but everything was just average. The breakfast was basic (we had hoped for better), and the staff was nice, although they first tried to arrange a cab ride to the airport in other than a 'white taxi' for more than the standard 48 euro rate. There was a small bar with limited hours and staff. There was no mini bar in the room, but they did leave 2 waters every night. If we went back, we would look for another hotel with a bit more of a luxury, personal feel.

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in June 2014. We liked it a lot - it's basically right behind the Pantheon, and very close to Piazza Navona (~10 min walk) and the Trevi Fountain (15 min walk). The room was very nice, roomy, clean, quiet. One night the AC seemed to work perfectly, but the other two nights we were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

My only complaint is that this part of town is nowhere near the Metro, and the staff could have been a little more helpful with tourists finding the bus stops and bus routes - we ended up taking more taxis than I would have liked (...but this is as much our fault as anyone's).

Great place.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel before we left for our cruise. We were very happy with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. We booked the room that sleeps 4, it was my husband and I and our 2 adult age daughters, 19 & 24. It was spacious and the layout was perfect, set up with 2 king beds in separate areas with 2 flat screen TV's! The hotels common areas were charming and cozy and the breakfast each morning was quite good, and included. Almost forgot- free wifi!! As for location, we couldn't have asked for better! Almost everything was walking distance, the Pantheon was right behind us. Plenty of shops and places to eat all nearby. Overall our experience was fabulous and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Rome and wants to be in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: For privacy, ask for a courtyard view- it is so adorable and charming!

The perfect location for our visit to Rome. Down the street from the Pantheon, walking distance to the Collosseum and a short ride to the Vatican.

Very clean, intimate reception with an outdoor seating area.

The rooms are well appointed with good beds, solid bathroom and rockin' WiFi.

Tremendous breakfast with everything you need a short hop away.

We couldn't ask for more.
