We stayed 4 nights in the Smeraldo and found it was a great location for walks along the river and to the Pantheon. Also it's not to far from the main shopping district and then war memorial. My wife and I found to we could walk to the Coliseum in about 1/2 hour and ended up never taking a bus. There's a great cafe across the street (15') for morning espresso or evening wine & prosecco. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was very good except for the coffee (Get a cappuccino across the street).

This is NOT a luxury hotel, but it's clean, quiet and safe and provides great value in a great location.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter

We stayed in Hotel Smeraldo (party of two) during Palm Sunday weekend and really enjoyed it! Rome is very busy at this time of year but thanks to the location of our hotel it was very easy to get around the city. The farthest place to walk to (Vatican City or Colsseum) is about 22 mins or 10 euros on a cab. The staff was very friendly and helped us book tours and taxis whenever we needed one. It is only a 2 min walk to Campo di Fiori and 10 min walk to Trastevere, where the nightlife is in full effect! We will definitely stay here when we come back to Rome.

Room Tip: Single room (1 pax) in Europe means "one person" not one bed. Please make sure to book the...

The location is perfect for tourists who want to be in the historical center since it is situated between the Vatican and the Colosseo near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. It has a friendly and helpful staff, small but clean rooms. I look forward to staying there again, and I always recommend it to all my friends.

Room Tip: I have stayed in several different rooms and have liked each one.

The hotel is good, but the location is fantastic. Great value for location. Don´t forget to ask to book in main building. There is also an another building and you must walk on the street to eat the breakfast.

Perfect location in the historic centre, friendly and welcoming staff, pleasant atmosphere in the hotel and nice restaurants in the neighbourhood.
As far as I am concerned the perfect starting point to explore Rome!

Our intention was to see Rome and use the hotel as a base, but I was very pleasantly surprised, the staff were friendly and efficient, the place was spotless and the location was all you could hope for. We intend to return!

This hotel is very well located if you want to do all the traditional sight-seeing in Rome, the distance to the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Vatican being easily walkable. We had dinner in the nearby Campo de'Fiori piazza every night which has a good selection of restaurants. The room itself was very clean and nicely decorated, and despite being quite small the bathroom had a large basin and the size wasn't really an issue. Breakfast was a traditional continental breakfast and the staff were friendly and helpful.
