“Fantastic location and lovely hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

This hotel is in an amazing location - very central and we loved being able to walk down the Spanish Steps in the morning before the crowds appeared. Our room was quite small, but it was clean, comfortable and had great air conditioning. The owner and staff are very friendly and we were grateful that we were able to check-in a bit early. The breakfast was good and it was nice to eat it on the rooftop terrace. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

It isn't as big and "grand" as the chain hotels but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm and friendliness. The rooms are not overly large but the bed is comfortable and above all the room is COOL with tiled floors and air-conditioning (essential in a city that is still 20C at midnight!). The roof terrace has a view that is second to none in Rome - left to the "Wedding Cake" (War Memorial) and the Colosseum and straight ahead towards the Parliament building and the Piazza Navona. And the breakfast is good. When you are in Rome you do not want to sit about in a lounge but see the sights. This fills the bill - which is not as great as some hotels in the area. Well worth a return visit.

The location is phenomenal - close to EVERYTHING. You literally step out of the front door of the hotel and you're greeted with a beautiful view over the top of the Spanish Steps. The rooftop terrace was wonderful, too - lots of plants with a beautiful view of Rome. The lobby is practically nonexistent (which was a bit disappointing) and the room was OK. We'd booked a quad room and the room looked MUCH smaller than what we saw on the internet. Would we return? Possibly. We've stayed in the Hotel Lancelot in past years, and would likely stay there before the Hotel Scalinata Di Spagna.

This hotel is small and older, but is clean and beautifully appointed. There is plenty of food at the breakfast buffet, there is a sweet terrace on which to eat or just relax, and the people are friendly and helpful. I loved the location. At night we went out to the plaza and took pictures of the moon rise over the dome of St. Peter's. And for being right in the middle of the city, it is surprisingly quiet. Good shopping, a pharmacy, and lots of cafes in the area. I would recommend it for couples, friends traveling together and families.

We stayed at Hotel Di Spagna in June 2014. It is a very nice, quiet harbor in a busy city. It is well appointed and comfortable. The people at the reception desk were wonderfully helpful and often went above and beyond to assist us. The breakfast was very complete and provided us with a nice start to the day. It was also great to be right at the Spanish Steps to begin our touring each day. Ask for the room with its own baclony--that was an awesome benefit and I believe there is only one.

This hotel is very sweet and small, but the perfect location. The staff always wants to help out and are willing to bring you anything you need. Breakfast was good, not great but perfect for early mornings in Rome. I would recommend this place.

We stayed at the Hotel Scalinata Di Spanga, for three nights last week and really enjoyed our stay. The location was good, close to the top of the Spanish Steps, and very handy for the metro. The breakfast was good eaten on the terrace, which was open for coffee all day. We had a good room on the same floor as the breakfast bar which was clean and comfortable. The staff on the reception were very pleasant and helpful and recommended a good restaurant only a few minutes away. Would definitely stay here again.
