“Lovely hotel in an excellent position”
Reviewed 25 July 2012

We stayed at this hotel in May 2012 and would highly recommend it. We had a family room which was spacious, clean and even had a small balcony over looking the roof tops. Our room was made up every day and the breakfast was sufficent, with lovely pastries. We found all staff to be very pleasant and helpful, they also let us keep our room until 1pm for no extra fee.
We found the hotel to be in a safe and central position, we walked every where and enjoyed the cafes right outside the hotel for a late afternoon cold beer!
We loved Rome, and having thrown a coin in the Trevi Fountain, will hopefully return one day!

My wife and cousin and I just spent a week with these folks on the recommendation of my daughter, who’s lived and studied in Rome for several years. Not surprised to see the extraordinary number of “excellent” reviews, as we agree completely. Can’t imagine a more gracious and accommodating staff. They even winked conspiratorially at my daughter as she joined us for the breakfast: it was too good; she couldn’t resist.

After “perfect,” what can anyone say about the location? I suppose you could sleep right there in the Piazza San Pietro (if they’d let you) but failing that it would be hard to get closer to the Vatican. No vehicles allowed on Borgo Pio is a wonderful bonus. Everything you need is just steps away: fruit and produce shop, bakery, deli, wine store, pharmacy, excellent gelato (careful though, or they’ll overcharge), and delightful dining all right on the block or one up or down. The Vatican Museum is 8-10 minute walk; St. Peter’s is five. Buses three short blocks away will take you anywhere else you might want to visit, although we walked everywhere: trips to the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps--to name a few--gave us the chance to see Rome as the Romans do. Well okay, they aren’t doing as much gawking.

After three days this was my neighborhood. Seriously, it felt like home.

When we first booked this hotel I was somewhat concerned of the location because it was right around the corner from the Vatican and thought that it would be far away from restaurants and sights. This hotel was perfect in everyway. The location was great. There were at least 10 restaurants within a block of the hotel with at least 5 right on the same street. There were shops, cafes and the best pastry.

The hotel was very clean, welcoming and the rooms were very affordable. We took the city bus to all the major sights and later we took the metro train over to the spanish steps and trevi fountain.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a perfect stop in Rome.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the main street which was fun to look at. They also had rooms with balconies ov...

Hotel Sant Anna is a real jewel! Beautifully furnished, very clean, quiet and the buffet breakfast is exceptional! The staff was very friendly, especially Andrea who did his best to advise us with sightseeing and to help us with the booking of our plane tickets, he was a delight to talk to.
The hotel is only a few steps away from the Vatican. We stayed 5 nights and will definitely stay there again.

After a mistake in the reservation in a nearby hotel, we arrived there by chance at 1 am, and were lucky enough to find that one room was still available. Under such circumstances, we had no great expectations, but soon found that the place was really good. Good taste, clean, competent and friendly staff... Do not miss the little outside yard, which is very tempting -even though there is so much to do in Rome, and so many nice places to seat...

This hotel is on a lovely street just steps from St. Peter's Square and about an 8 minute walk to the Octaviano metro stop. The hotel staff was wonderful in helping me plan my days, recommending good restaurants, and arranging airport transport. My room was large and very clean and breakfast was delightful. I highly recommend the hotel. The only catch was I had to keep up with some work and the internet is a bit intermittent -- but that's the case just about all over the country.

Room Tip: I had a ground floor room next to an outdoor cafe. I'm fussy about my sleep, but the street qui...

We stayed at Hotel Sant' Anna for two nights at the recommendation of two different friends. We wanted to be within walking distance of the Vatican. This hotel is almost in the Pope's apartment! It is only a block from the Vatican.

The hotel, while small, is clean and neat. The rooms are nicely decorated and quaint. Staff is pleasant and courteous. Room rates are reasonable for Rome.

It is on a street with numerous restaurants having tables set outside right on the street. For a nice reasonably priced dinner, consider the Tre Pupazzi, about three blocks down at Borgo Pio 183.
